I just submitted 2 days ago and this was my first interview invite, I'm super thrilled! I put a lot of thought into my apps...33Q MCAT just over 3.5 GPA. Unusual major and ECs, also had a parent who went here...I'm sure that helped but it is not an automatic interview cause my sis also applied this year and has interesting credentials and has not yet been invited to interview. When I scheduled mine there were tons of dates in December open, only a couple left in November. Interview season is definitely not over for them! I'm not sure what they look for but I sure hope I'm it.🙂 It is such such a great school. Anyone who has interviewed this year wanna tell me what to expect? It would be much appreciated. Good luck to all!

Congrats!!! Expect the tour to take a little while bc UPMC is expansive. Also expect blind/closed-file student interviews and open-file faculty interviews.

Hey so I was complete 7/2 I do believe. Should I pretty much assume rejection by this point? Is it worth sending an email update or anything like that?

send an update, they are almost done with their interview spots i believe. nothing to lose now.

That can't be true.
I just got an invite today, complete 9/18.
Stats around their averages.
There's interview spots open all through, late november, all dec and jan.

Does anyone know how long after interview pitt gives an answer? I know it says 8 weeks, but really?

oh someone earlier in this thread said they were upto dec/jan (and i think they stop interviewing january/feb?). i could be totally wrong

It's January, they may occasionally go into early Feb, but that's it. Also, I haven't seen a case of someone getting invited after being complete for more than a month(unless you submitted a month or so before they started handing out interview invites). Mass rejections are gonna start usually a little past mid October.

Anyone know how many % they admit of the interviewed? I looked all over their weby and couldn't find it. :-(

Hey, I know who you are! It was nice meeting you that day, best of luck to you this cycle! Unfortunately I couldn't stay for any of the talks.
And to you too, as well...I think I'm pretty easy to pick out...
And...I think I know who you are too, right? You sat nearest the asst. dean and she kept asking about philosophy as an undergrad, right?

The amount of self assured conjecture taking place in this thread is unreal. Should I be taking anything on these forums as truth?

when I called to try and change my interview date, they told me that everything in Nov was filled up... so if you just got an invite and you managed to schedule it in nov, maybe you got lucky and took a spot that someone dropped?

As far as what percentage of interviewees they accept, the number I have is 36%... however, as someone else also pointed out, they accept a lot less at first- many of these 36% come from the waitlist. Also keep in mind that they interview like 1300 people (around 20% of applicants), which is a lot higher than other schools.

100% of my posts are irrelevant and unhelpful. just to let people know if they can't figure it out.

I've been lurkign here for the most part... but i'm confused today

Did a lot of people get interview invites today? In the morning, I saw a lot of dates for october and November interviews... Now I only see December... Were they all filled up in the span of the day when i was searching for flights and housing????

Did you see the dates open on their website? By the time I got a chance to check at 5PM, Nov 24 was the last date

Yeah, actually when I first looked yesterday there was still a date in october, and a bunch in November, lots in Dec/Jan. Then after searching for flights, etc, for an hour or two it was down to 3 dates in November, still lots of dates later. I think they definitely sent out a bunch of invites yesterday. Who told you 1300 interviewed? I was also looking all over for stats but I couldn't find them anywhere. Where are people getting their info from? ! I also really like to know where this is coming from...earlier peeps speculated 1000 interviewed. do tell.

For the Fall 2007 Admission: 5616 applied, 1229 interviewed, 443 were accepted, 146 enrolled

I have been complete since 9/2 without a word

I wonder if we can change to an earlier date if people drop their interviews after october 15

some MS1 from Pitt said the interview number was at 900 this year, but again im just kicking ****

I got an interview request 20 minutes after my MCAT score was released. note that I submitted the rest of my application before my score was released. Makes me think they have an automated system that sends bids to high MCAT/GPAs. I'm a 40/4.0 from a top 10 undergrad.

so do we get a status update on the 15th or wha?

I think it's about 4 weeks. I looked at the threads from last year, and people who interviewed near my interview date (Sept 18) heard around the 20th of October. So I'm not expecting to hear on Oct 15, but I'll be checking it from that day on :scared:

so does the status say accepted or a decision has been mailed to your rejected ass

Nah, I was the Indian guy who kept talking about Pittsburgh sports, haha.

They told us they had reduced the number of applicants they were planning to interview to under 1k. They also lost a few days due to G20 and weren't planning on adding more dates.

Good luck to all of you.

man thats gonna be intense

good luck to everyone!

Yeah especially since there won't be an email telling us our status has changed, as far as I know. It'll just be like...WHAM! Admissions decisions. Scary!!!

Good luck all!!!

Do you think we'll know on Thursday? Or maybe it will take them an extra day or two?

:scared:

i checked last years thread and i dont think i will find out til late october (and i interviewed exactly mid sept)

Hey what's going on everyone,

So I had a quick question for you seasoned vets out there..

I was stoked this morning to find I had received an interview invite from Pitt 🙂

Their only avail. dates are Oct 16 and the next one isn't until Dec. 9....what should I do? How much worse off would I be by interviewing in Dec vs. a few days from now?

Thanks for the input!

Good luck to everyone and hopefully this will all be over soon! 😀

congrats! i would just take the soonest date and go with it. in the end, i think you will find that delaying doesnt help. pitt is supposed to have fun/relaxed interviews, so just go for it man.

OH MAN! If you got a spot that opened up on the 19th, GO GO GO. It's worth the extra cost of flying earlier (assuming you're flying). Pitt is VERY rolling so it really benefits you to go almost 2 months earlier. Jump on that if it hasn't closed up already!

Agree with this. Getting in front of them early is beneficial, period. And my two tips for the actual interview are to be ready to walk up and down hills, because the tour is massive, and relax, because the interviews are very friendly.

Correct me if I am wrong, Pitt also posts their decisions on the status page...will this go up at 12:00am??? hehe getting neurotic now I know
