Arrested Development has very very memorable characters with their quirks and the plots are always hilariously interconnected. Definitely one of my faves.

Did anyone see yesterday's Curb? Near the end of the episode, I had to stop watching for a little bit because I couldn't bear to keep witnessing the awkwardness

Mad awkward. I almost died during the pie scene though, so hilarious.

Sorry! Hmm... I'm not quite sure hotel-wise, but I do know that the x28 is an awesome and cheap way to get from the airport to the Oakland area in Pitt.

Located in Oakland at the corner of Halket Street and Boulevard of the Allies. This hotel offers a reduced rate for Pitt School of Medicine applicants; ask for the intern rate.

79.99 for the night

Okay hotel (worst in terms of the room) but they have a good shuttle service to the school. Its also walking distance from the school, I just walked back instead of taking the shuttle.

When they say that Pitt is hilly, they aren't lying btw

Why does Pittsburgh need to delay its admission decisions if it will put many people on the waitlist anyway?

secondary complete: 10/17/09 PM

interview invite: 10/20/09 AM

SO STOCKED!!

Thanks man.

Speaking of the 28X, maybe someone can benefit from my stupidity. So I'll preface this by saying I have almost no experience with public transportation. Anyway my flight was scheduled to leave at 5:20 and I get to the 28X bus stop at 3, at which point it's supposed to arrive at 3:03 according to the schedule. A bus comes at 3:01, and a bunch of people get on, so I'm thinking cool, it's a couple minutes early, here we go. At this point I also have an absolutely horrible headache, so I find a seat in the back of the bus and try to sleep. I rest my eyes for a while, then look out my window to notice we're not on the highway yet. This is around 3:40, at which point we should've been well on our way to the airport. So I get a girl's attention and ask what bus we're on. She says the 500. So I'm like oh f&#! When will we get back to Oakland so I can get on the right bus? Um, about 45 minutes with traffic. So I get off out at the next stop, call a taxi who says it'll take 45 minutes to get the airport from where I am, and he gets to me at 4:05. Of course, after paying the taxi $42 and getting to the airport 35 minutes before my flight's departure, I find out my flight is actually delayed an hour. Tainted my memory of the interview day unfortunately, even though I thought Pitt seemed great.

🙁:meanie:

The 28x is money. You'll want $2.60 for each trip. And yes, make sure you get on the right bus.

interview invite!!! was not expecting this one with all the talk about pitt already giving away most interviews, so for those of you still waiting there's definitely still hope 🙂🙂

Anyone know, what's the last interview month? Thanks.

I feel like Pitt is a really hot girl who has my number but just went on vacation...come back! Call me!

Yes I agree, but whether that girl is gonna call me for another date or to break up with me is up for grabs :scared: (or a third option, "lets take a break, but I may give you a ring sometime")

Oh, so the first quality you look for in a girl is personality, that is noble my friend, truly noble. (but agreed, OSU has a spicy personality)

Cheaper date yes, but high class elsewhere 😛

The worst part is that during the vacation, Pitt is seeing other people and comparing them to me.

Hey, I'm looking to book a hotel for the night before my interview... any recommendations? I'm looking for something that's within walking distance of campus or has a shuttle to campus or something (basically, I just want it to be easy for me to get from the hotel to my interview early in the morning lol). It looks like Shadyside Inn and Residence Inn by Mariott are the closest ones.. anyone used these? thanks in advance

oh and also, is the best way to get from the airport to your hotel using the Port Authority 28X Airport Flyer Bus?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Oakland, and it was clean, safe, and convenient -- everything I was looking for. They have a shuttle to the campus, but it is no more than a 10-minute walk. I used Hotwire to book the room, so I didn't know what hotel in the area it would turn out to be, but it turned out to be this one, and I got a good rate (79.99+tax).

Quality Inn is a decent choice too, free shuttle to wherever you need to go in the Oakland area or a ~10 minute walk. Ask for the med school interview rate.

28x is awesome. Just use google maps to figure out where you need to get off, and have exact change (I think it was $2.60).

The Shadyside Inn is not very close at all, and the Residence Inn is not far, but not within walking distance. I always recommend the Wyndham next to the Pitt campus. It is the closest hotel to Pitt!

I saw that place while I was there. It is pretty much right across the street from campus, but it looked pretty expensive. What did you pay?

There are free student hosts! But I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and found it to be affordable and within walking distance.

Good luck, maybe I'll be seeing you guys (or interviewing you if you come after 11/1)

Yea, but just know that if she picks you, she'll be loyal to you, but you can still date other girls until may 15th.

I'm dyin' here for this decision. C'mon Pitt, make it the first of November!

...if only there were an anxious emoticon, there'd be so many of those going around these threads!

this is me:

well that might be dramatic

but seriously Pitt. I know you've made a decision about me.

ok thanks, maybe I'll go for this one then! The reason I'm not staying with a student host is that this will end a long series of consecutive interviews and traveling around for me, and I think I just need one good night in a hotel for R&R...
