I don't think they normally give out invites more than 2-3 weeks in advance

Why assume you're going to get a UTH interview because you got a UTSW and Baylor interview? Obviously you think there must be something about your application which would make them all come running, and apparently that's not the case.
Face it, UTSW and Baylor largely filter applicants based on numbers.
A lot of my classmates (probably half or more) have spent a year or more working outside of school, and many have graduate degrees.
for the most partWe're also a very friendly, cohesive group. 🙂
I'm wondering what my chances of getting an interview are at UT Houston. I got two other interviews very soon after my TMDSAS application was verified (on 8/12) but I have not heard anything from UT Houston. Do they invite everybody they want for interviews right away or is it possible that I might still get an interview invitation later? Thanks!!
when you are "verified" do you get an email from TMDSAS? Under status, it reads "Submitted to TMDSAS." I submitted my application on 9/2/09, had AAMC send out my MCAT scores that day, and expedited payment on 9/3. I know it will be at least a month before I *hopefully* get offered an interview, but whats this verified nonsense all about?
Yes, you should. Or you should say "I will be in Texas on ____ for an interview. I am trying to schedule as many interviews as possible during this time frame. Please let me know..." yadda yadda.I just realized that a lot of Texas schools send out interviews very close to the date (10 - 15 days in advance, it seems like). I'm currently overseas (for the whole year) and just received an invite from a Texas school (not UT-H). I'm in a bit of a dilemma as it is the first school I have heard back from (TMDSAS verified sometime like August 25th?), and I don't want to book an expensive flight until I can schedule as many interviews as possible in as short a trip as possible.
Should I send an e-mail to all Texas schools stating that I am overseas, and would like more than a 10 day heads up about any interviews so that I can plan my trip better?
I am a Texas resident, and am hoping to do 2 trips this interview season - 1 trip for Texas schools and 1 trip for out of state schools.
Thanks! 🙂

hey guys I know im late but I just submitted my app on 9/14 so I dont think it will be transmitted until sometime in october. do you think it will be too late for schools to consider me by then?
Being later in the cycle doesn't help your cause. But, you should still get a look. Each Texas school varies...if you read up, you'll see that some schools in Texas offer most of their seats during the prematch, but others prefer to carry a lot of open seats into the match. UT Houston is one of those schools that likes to get most of their students through the match (per Dr. Kellaway). A&M, on the other hand, basically fills their class during the prematch. I believe A&M said they only ended up matching a single-digit number of students to fill the remaining open seats.
hey guys
what do u think my chances are for UTH
i have a 3.9 and 28M MCAT
i hear the school is really amazing and the med center is nice too
oh and do yall know what the average mcat for them is?
oh okk thanks
do u know anyone that interviewed there with a 28??..do u think i have a shot?
👍 also, your GPA is really good so that's always a big plus!i dont know if anyone had a 28 simply because i didnt ask anyone, i thought it would be rude. but yeah, i think you have a chance. if your ECs are good and you interview well i dont see why not.

I think your mcat is too low for UTH..you probably will not get an interview..sorry just keeping it real!!
i was just worried bc the mcat avg of 32 is pretty high
guess all i can do is hope for an interview

I was ecstatic to find out that I received an interview for 10/23. Annabananas there is certainly hope. While I am not aware of you situation I can tell you mine which seems kinda similar.
I have a 3.88 GPA and have a 28O MCAT. I know plenty of others with lower GPAs and 28 MCATs who have also received interviews. Good luck! Oh and last time I checked I though it was a ~30 MCAT across the board?

I think you'll be ok. Mine was the same way. Though I did appreciate being addressed as "Dear Future Doctor" 😀Hi. I got an interview invite today but the email looked a little different...almost as if it was a forwarded email (didn't look like any of the emails from other schools). Did any of you receive the email for the interview invited with this in the subject line "FW: UTH Interview October 16!" ?
I know I'm probably being paranoid, but I'd be so disappointed if this was somehow a mistake. Also, my name is nowhere to be found in the email. Was it like this for all of you?

Looks like it 😛 Any idea how many people they invite at a time?I second that analysis. Same email that I received. I love the outright optimism in their email.
JustDance when is yours? Mine is 10/23. Am I going to have the pleasure of seeing you twice lol?

Maybe they could get one of those Domino's pizza tracker things. "Ramon is evaluating your MCAT scores" or something.
oh okk thanks

I think you have a decent shot with a high GPA and if your MCAT breakdown is even (if you scored like a 14 in one section..then I would be really worried, but if it is, say 9-9-10 I think you have a decent shot).
Good luck!
Oh, and I will be interviewing on 10/23 as well! I'm from Houston, so if anyone is OOS or doesn't know the way around, PM me. I live about 10 minutes from TMC.
and your tour was awesome, right? (I helped give the tours last week)just interviewed last friday. they do 2 groups - each about 50-60 people in each. two one-on-one interviews. one more about you as applicant, your grades, personality etc. another one about your reactions to specific scripted questions.
dr. kellaway is amazing. she is incredible. UTH has the nicest admissions office i have ever encountered. they want to make everything fun and comfortable. uth hardly does any pre-match offers. their policy is people who interview the first day in july and the people who interview the last day in january have the same chances of being admitted (direct quote from dr. kellaway)
I can ask, but in the past it hasn't happened on 10/15 like you would expect. Usually OOSers don't find out until around or after pre-match offers have been made, more around the match. I don't know if that's official policy, it's just a trend I noticed last year in the "out of state for Texas" thread.thanks for the info tuldtd! And army, do you know when they start accepting/rejecting OOS since we don't go through the match? TIA

What? are you sure about that statement that the people that interview in july have the same chances as those of january??
I thought they accept as the go? i mean that would defeat the purpose of applying early right?
Oh and do you know how many pre-match offers they give?
They said they only fill 10-20% of the class pre-match and that most people will be accepted in the match. When I interviewed she didn't explicitly say that people who interview in July have the same chances of those who interview in January but she did say that they don't want people interviewing in December to feel like they are interviewing for waitlist spots. I think the biggest advantage to applying early at UTH (similar to any non-rolling school) is that you should be more likely to get an interview.
actually it is true that the people who interview in July have the same chance as those who interview much later.
it's also true that they only accept a very small percentage of the class pre-match.
