Does anybody have #'s on how many acceptances are offered out of the 600 applicants that are interviewed?
It's about 200, give or take.

Hi
How many of you guys have gone from OOS wiatlist-> accepted?
Thanks

aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! interview invite for march 23!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats OperatingRoom! And thanks for posting, it's great to hear there's still some hope for those of us in the small pool with interviews being scheduled for March.
I've been small grouped for awhile OOS. I was wondering if they still accepted pre-interview updates?
Unfortunately no, I tried.
Good luck!
is it common for student hosts not to reply? i wrote two students, but haven't received any response.
To the ppl who recently heard back post interview, when did you interview? Just wondering what dates the adcom are working on right now.
I interviewed 2nd week of Feb
If it helps, I was told at my interview today that the adcom will meet for our decision on April 1st, and we will get a response within a week and a half.
Has anyone (OOS) post-interview been either rejected, or waitlisted-->accepted here? It seems like nobody (?) has been rejected, lots have been waitlisted, and a few have been accepted right off the bat. Wondering whether the waitlist is just what everyone receives who doesn't get an initial acceptance. Any thoughts?

Thanks! I'm from sac too lol. What did you think about Vermont? I'm glad they accept a lotta oos applicants.

I'm in the same boat. Everyone says that they don't accept updates, but I think some people had success with letters of interest. Comments on this anyone?

I am on the waitlist post-interview---on my status page it says:
"It is not necessary to submit additional letters of recommendation, letters of reference, etc., as these will not influence your place on the waitlist. If you would like to submit a letter reaffirming your interest in the UVM College of Medicine please do so via email to [email protected]."
I am sure this is the same for pre-interview hold. From everyone I've talked to, it seems like they respond really well to letters showing your continued interest in the school. I mean it can't hurt!
Hey,
Does any one know if any of the interviewers asked questions regarding ethics or touchy situation questions? (abortion/malpractice/insurance)
Did any one get asked about healthcare reform or i.e. What do you think is wrong with healthcare in this country?, etc
Did you get asked these questions or have you heard if others had to answer them?
Thanks! I know most interviewers dont want to put you in a awkward situation, but sometimes these questions can reveal a lot about the applicant (by gracefully being able to roll with the punches, whether thats being PC, positive, caring, etc.)
I ask mainly because... It's Vermont. I'm not quite sure what to expect.
uh yeah, all of the be above. and ethical questions. its not like its uncommon
I interviewed in the middle of January and heard back at the beginning of February. Committee was held during the first week of February and I heard back that same week. I sent out an letter reaffirming my interest a week later.
As far as the interview, mine was very laid back, more of a conversation than anything. First I was asked why I wanted to be a doctor. Then my interests outside of school, where I saw myself in the future, and what I thought was wrong with medicine...which led into health care reform. Not anything too tough, and they honestly want to hear your thoughts, not just how much you read up on a subject and the facts that you can spew out. You only interview with one person and mine took about 45 minutes, I think there is an allotted 1 hour chunk of time. The best advice I can give you (I know it sounds lame) is be yourself. At this point in the game they don't care about your grades or your scores, they just want to know you as a person and whether you will fit in with the school.

Thanks, Yeah thats what I figured... just wanted to know if it was less or more of a component of Vermont specifically.
I'll just be prepared, just like any other interview...
Where did you guys stay while you were there?
Sheraton?
Try staying with a student host. I wasn't asked any of the "touchy" topics, just stuff from my app. Like everybody else said, they basically want to get to know you. The dean encouraged us to be proactive during the interview, if you feel something important about urself/app hasn't been discussed, then bring it up yourself.
Brooksie's post above is really accurate.
Thank You. I really appreciate it.
I think it might be too late to try to get a student host. I'll send some emails, but if it doesnt work out, I'm tryin to stay at the cheapest place with some sort of shuttle service.
I could not find a host and ended up staying at the Best Western Windjammer (about a mile from the campus - I actually walked there a few days before my interview). I highly recommend this hotel. It was $75 a night, and they included a $10 restaurant voucher (the pub has good food) and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies each evening. They also have a shuttle service to and from the airport and UVM (I scheduled a shuttle the night before my interview).
What the heck. I emailed them because I was going to be in the area and they said all their interview spots are filled up. (I have been small pooled). Why dont they just reject me then if they are filled up instead of keeping people hanging.

That's the nature of the beast. Not sure if you applied to GW, but they recently sent out an e-mail to pretty much everyone waiting saying all their interview slots are filled....but there's still a slim chance that you'll get an interview invite and we're just going to keep your file active just for the hell of it.
I'm still pre-interview small-pooled. I sent an update letter in early February and never heard anything back (I've since learned that they don't accept them, so that's all find and dandy). Anyway, I was thinking of sending an email with a letter of interest. Would it be worth it at this point? I really don't wanna go down without a fight. Any opinions?
