Good news may come tomorrow!!!!!! (or on Tuesday)

I'm not so sure. When my group interviewed (middle-ish of Oct) they told us 8-10 weeks and it hasn't been that long yet. I'm guessing they didn't meet last week due to Thanksgiving. Maybe next week?

I could be wrong- let us know if you get a call!

Not to be a downer, but our estimate of calls every two weeks probably isn't that accurate. I just browsed through last year's thread and the first few rounds of calls were on 10/15, 10/29, 11/19, and 11/25. Not that regular.

Yeah, I too doubt they met during the holiday break. I feel like they told us on our day (also middle of October) that it'd be a 4-6 week wait. Next week seems to be the most reasonable guess.

I called the admissions office and I should be hearing back within a week (two weeks max).

I interviewed 10/22. Hope that helps ppl

Good luck to everyone who is supposed to hear back soon! I actually interviewed at Vandy on 11/5. I hope that I'll be considered within this batch. I am at the 4 week point right now 👍

anyone who interviewed first week of Oct still not hear back yet? cause I have not either

I apologize if the answer to this question is buried in this thread somewhere, but would someone mind telling me how the interview lunch works at Vanderbilt? I am interviewing there next week and I'm a vegetarian, but the correspondence I've received from them didn't give any specific instructions about notifying the admissions office of dietary restrictions. Some schools let you pick your own food from a huge buffet (like UVa, yum) -- others give you a lunch with meat in it unless you specifically request otherwise. Anyone know? I don't want to spam them with my eating habits unless it's necessary. Thanks!

I interviewed awhile ago but I do remember they brought a bunch of sandwiches for us to choose from. I believe there was a veggie option, but I'm sure if you called the office and told them, they'd be sure to have one for you.

Thanks, ksmi! That's very helpful. I will call the office -- or email them, phone-phobe that I am.

just signed up for an interview on January 18th! Anyone else interviewing that day?

They had half sandwiches, chips, cookies, fruit, and drinks to choose from. I randomly picked a sandwich and ended up with the Mediterranean veggie one (it had some feta cheese in it...don't know if you're lactose intolerant). You might want to give them a heads-up, so they make sure there's enough vegetarian sandwiches there.

When I interviewed there, they had a ton of veggie sandwiches and made sure any vegetarians had first priority when it came to picking them. I think out of 15 or so sandwiches, there were probably 7 Medit. veggies. You'll be alright.

I'm a veggie - there was a mediterrianian 1/2 sandwich that you can grab. You might have to be a bit aggressive and go for it first to make sure you get it. Others don't grab it on purpose i'm sure; but if they randomly grab it, they might run out.

Duno if you've had panera sandwiches before - but the medi veggie is pretty damn awesome 👍

Thanks for the lunch advice, everyone! It sounds like there will be some veggie options there, so I probably won't call or email them. I am not afraid to throw an elbow as I lunge for the Mediterranean wraps.

Yeah, during lunch they place a box full of Panera sandwiches and cookies in the middle of a table and let everyone grab what they want. You'll have to move pretty quickly if you want a cookie!

You are so funny! hahahahaha yeah but it's true!!! move quick or else you'll end up with a sugar cookie instead of a chocolate chip cookie

Did anyone else get the loaf of French bread? I didn't see it on the table, and then out of nowhere, people started passing around a loaf. Don't think I didn't see you fellow applicants struggling to tear off a chunk...I was watching.

I interviewed on 10/12 and STILL haven't heard back!! anyone from that date hear back already??

i didn't move fast enough and i didn't even get a cookie 🙁

I didn't even know they had cookies, I just went for the Sun Chips.

this. Sun Chips are vital.

I interviewed with a crowd of delicate Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and Harvard people who took all the bottled water. me and the other guys from the no-name colleges all got the cokes. I think that was the most awkward crowd of people I've interviewed with yet...over half the people were from top-notch undergrads and it was in August so everybody was really nervous and was trying to impress everyone else.

If they were so delicate, why weren't you able to beat them out for the water? 😀

Did anyone get a call from Vandy today?

If not, then I guess it's gonna be on Tuesday or next Sunday..

Can't wait to hear back from them..

Psyched for Vandy interview this week. And super psyched for Panera Bread sandwiches. Yum. I have my priorities in order.

I didn't realize that they made phone calls on Sundays. Do they really do this? o.o

yea, i got my call on sunday afternoon. i think they've only done it once though

has anyone who was initially WL'd gotten an acceptance yet? I think last year WL movement started in Nov/Dec...

also, has anyone heard anything about scholarships yet? they started giving out merit aid around this time last year...

If the waitlist should be moving soon, then does that mean that interview invites are done? Because I have yet to hear anything...

I did some creeping on the 2008-2009 Vanderbilt thread and found that someone got accepted off the waitlist in late November. So theoretically, we're in waitlist movement zone. We need to bear in mind that once the interview season is done and there is an official waitlist, very few people get off. So hopefully some of us will get some good news soon :xf:

hope you get off the waitlist man, you seem to have good reasons for wanting to attend Vandy. and when you do get in...feel free to withdraw from Pitt for me...

thanks! I would definitely withdraw from Pitt if I got in here. but, I'm only on the Pitt waitlist, so don't know how much that would help you...I guess one less to compete with is good

hey rockaction - whod you send your loi/update to?

hey, I can use whatever help I can get.

Nope. Waitlist movement here isn't like other schools -- each time the committee meets to accept people, they review people on the alternate list. So someone could possibly get put on the alternate list on their first review, but get in the next time the committee meets.

Also, I think someone just scheduled their Vandy interview for January, so I would guess there's plenty of spots left.

soooo does anybody on the inside know when the next committee meeting is or whatever?

I'd hope if anyone heard, they'd post here. But yeah it was right around this time last year. If Vandy gives me money, I'll almost definitely go there over anywhere else. 😍 Vandy!

Also, :luck: to the WLers. I hope some of y'all hear soon. :xf:

you'd really go to Vandy over wash u or johns hopkins?

I interviewed on Nov. 5th! It's been a little bit over a month. I really hope I hear back soon!!!😳

same here!! i absolutely loved it when i interviewed! the only question now is money bc my state school is UVA, which is also a great school and much cheaper...

I think I'd go to Vandy over WashU if the cost was the same to both. I just liked it more. Cost equal between JHU and Vandy, I'm really not sure what I'd do. Both are awesome places and have different things I loved. I mean I obviously can't make this decision now, but I'd definitely be happy at any of the 3, so I think money will play a substantial role in my decision.
