haha i know it's not much shorter than 8 weeks, but i heard in a little less than 7 weeks (Aug 24 to Oct 16)

So, does this mean that interviewees are definitely reviewed in chronological order? I know some schools have somewhat random interviewee reviews in their AdCom meetings, so I was just curious about Vandy.

Some schools will let the people they really want know sooner than others, but Vandy seems to stick to the 6-8 weeks schedule, regardless of the applicant.

This is what I was wondering specifically. I guess it will be a long 8 weeks.

No one interviewed after Nov. 3 has heard any news?

Does anyone actually get rejected at this point from Vanderbilt post-interview? I just received the waitlist letter the other day (interviewed Nov. 10th). It sucks, because I loved Vandy and it was my first choice, but talking to my interviewer was like talking to a wall and I'm a relatively outgoing person. Worst interview experience I've had but I would have done just about anything to go there. Oh well.

sounds like we had a similar experience

Sounds kind of like my interview.

my interview did not go like this at all. mine was very talkative, inquired about the origin of my family and last name, asked about my family, my interactions with kids (i have lots)....we even had about a 15 minute conversation about sports, the NFL (cardinals, saints, vikings), college football (specifically the BCS game, the Cincinatti vs Florida game, and Bradford, Tebow, Pac-10, Gerhart, etc)....mine went quite smoothly however, one of my tour guides (an MS1, who happened to have the same interviewer I did) said she thought her interview went terribly and she got in.

as far as rejection, no i'm pretty sure no one (or very few) is rejected and most everyone is on a waitlist that isn't immediately accepted.

and no one that isn't immediately accepted gets in

so said my interviewer (who was also a brick wall)

well, i know that Pat Sagen (director of admissions) told us at orientation yesterday that "quite a few" get accepted off the waitlist. this was different than what i was told by an MS4....who claimed it was 2 or 3. I am going to lean towards Pat though, being she is in charge of admissions.

either way, i'm sorry you did not have a good experience interviewing. that's never fun 🙁

Same with mine, we had a really good conversation and talked about a lot of different things. If I don't get in, it won't be because of my interview. It's a really competitive school (my fellow interviewees had the most impressive undergrad backgrounds of any interview day yet) and the chances are low. With the interview, letters, and secondary essays all reviewed for the first time at the committee meeting, there's just too many variables to chalk up your result to any one thing.

Here's to hoping! :luck:

I interviewed on Nov. 17 and haven't heard anything...
Anyone else interviewed around that date?

I am starting to worry...

ACCEPTED last night via phone call from the admissions committee!! I interviewed wayyy back in August and was put on hold afterwards so I had pretty much given up! Very excited... loved Vanderbilt and it seems like all the students there are so happy.

Congrats to those of you who have recently been accepted! This wait is going to kill me! And I interviewed this month!!

Congrats!! They called you at night? What time did they call you?

Any 11/30ers receive the good news yet?

I interviewed on 11/30 too. They said 8-10 weeks minimum right? 8 weeks is next week. Judging from everyone else that's posting, we could be waiting much longer than that.

I'd give my left nut to get in. maybe i should tell the dean of admissions

They called around 6:30 but I missed it so they left a voicemail. I was COMPLETELY taken aback... literally stood there for a couple of seconds with my mouth open. Just a message to everyone on hold... don't lose hope!

Congratulations, that is wonderful news! Did you send a letter of intent or any updates that would have tipped the scales? I'm considering a letter of intent, but I'm not sure how much good it would do.

Nope I haven't had any contact with Vandy since October when I was put on the waitlist. But I am sure that a LOI can't hurt!

waitlists are sent through email, i imagine? so i guess i won't check my email for the next 3 weeks.

i sent an email to my interviewer recently telling him i really wanted to go to vandy. he said he'll let admissions know of "my continued interest." should i have contacted the dean directly? would that be more useful?

waitlist/continued review letters are sent through snailmail, actually

got the waitlist letter today.

Interviewed on Nov. 17...

Good luck, everyone! Vanderbilt is an amazing school! I would love to do anything if they let me in...

Ok, got waitlisted, what now? Those of you who got in off of waitlist did you send LOI?

Interviewing on 1/25 (Monday)! Hoping it goes well...Vandy is my top choice!:xf::luck:

Anyone else here interviewing that day? 🙂

those who got off the waitlist did not send letters (even people last year). there are a good number of us (myself included) that sent letters but have not heard anything since getting waitlisted. it seems to be that letters do not substantially boost anyone at Vanderbilt, but it can't hurt. I think that most of the waitlisted people who get off were really borderline and as the class takes shape, they get bumped up. there are some of us on the waitlist that will never get off, but of course Vanderbilt doesn't tell us which person we are.

it's been awfully quiet. anyone hear back, particularly people who interviewed on 11/30 or before that?

wl letter dated 1/21, received yesterday. interviewed third week of November.

Can someone please tell us if there is a confirmed date for second look weekend. Can't wait to go back!😍

Same here. I was so impressed by their facility, faculty, and their happy students. Waiting patiently~~~

I was waitlisted about a 2 weeks ago and sent a letter of intent.

Anyone know about how long it takes to hear about getting off the waitlist (if I get that lucky), if there is only a waitlist for non-accepted applicants (as opposed to waitlist and rejection), and how much of the incoming class gets in off the waitlist?

i think you're asking a question no one knows the answer to. even if there were 2 separate waitlists, they obviously wouldn't let that be known to us. as for how long you have to wait, you should just go back and read other people's posts. seems like people had to wait months.

Thanks. After I posted these questions, I went back and read a lot on this thread and it answered most of my questions (and destroyed some false hope I was harboring).

hey, i'm sure i'll be in the same boat as you. i'm waiting for the letter to appear in my mailbox any day now.

Sigh. Vandy called and I missed it, but no worries, they called back. It was about Second Look. Who's excited?? Less than 2 months!

i'm sure you aren't intentionally rubbing it in our faces, but rest assured, our faces are rubbed.

the school-specific threads shouldn't just be threads for waitlisters to wallow in their misery. people who got accepted are allowed to post here too.

Yep, one of their second years called. What a sweet gesture. 🙂
