This is the thread that last year's Wake Forest hopefuls used to speculate on waitlist movement. It looks like the acceptances started to trickle in at this time last year, with a few more in early May, and several more after May 15. Even though the deposit is non-refundable after May 1, it seems like many accepted students waited to withdraw until the national deadline of May 15.

It's encouraging though - several of the posters made it off of the waitlist!!

Thanks for posting this! I'd already seen it before but forgot about it. May 1st is JUST around the corner so I hope many of us get in within the next couple of weeks!

Not sure which to choose. It is a really hard decision.

Right now I am thinking I will withdraw from NYU for a few reasons, but I don't know its scary!

I really liked Wake, but I am born and raised NYC. NYU just really rubs me the wrong way. Loma Linda is a great school, but so far.

That's a great situation to be in. I think if I were you, I'd narrow the schools down to Wake Forest and NYU. In terms of quality of education, I think both offer better than Loma Linda (though I don't know much about the school). I'm heading to Wake Forest so I'm biased but I would still pick Wake Forest over NYU. Though you won't be in a big city, I think WF has a lot to offer. Its students and faculty seriously top notch and students nts match well. Housing is much, much, much cheaper. Since your already from NY, wouldn't it be nice to have a change of scenery for a few years? In the end, though, its which school makes you happy!

So I called WF today.. I was told there are around 200 people on the waitlist. And I was in the top 1/2. ::crosses fingers for a miracle acceptance:: Just thought I would let everyone know.. I talked to Irene, btw.

I called today too. I'm apparently about halfway down, which doesn't sound very good. She didn't sound hopeful, but it seems like its too early to say She actually asked if I was on UNC's waitlist, I don't know why 😕

Yeah she asked me if I were on any other waitlists as well.

This is what I got told as well when I called today - that the waitlist wasn't formed yet. I did not talk to Irene though, and I think this is the key. The secretary that I talked to said that she thought that the waitlist would not be formed until after May 15, and to call later in May and ask for Irene, that she would be able to give me a little more info on the waitlist at that time.

I don't want to wait that long though, if some of you were able to find out as of right now. I think I'm going to call back early next week and ask for Irene straight away 🙄

I wouldn't worry too much about the phone call. I called this morning and couldn't find out any information about the wait-list. Later this afternoon I received my acceptance!!!

Just make sure to write them a letter if this is really where you want to attend medical school. Good luck guys!

I was put on the alternate list at Wake and JUST got accepted on Apr 28th!

I have not received orientation materials yet but they are in the mail.

The way I found out was: I woke up on Apr 29th, checked my mail, and AMCAS notified me 1 of my schools was requesting a criminal background check without specifics of which school it was. 5 hours later I got an email that said "Financial aid award accepted at WFUSM."

So I was like, whats going on... I'm only on the alternate list...

I called the admissions office and told them something is up, they put me on hold, came back, and said "you got accepted, didnt you know?"

Then she said a bunch of other things that I didn't comprehend because I was shaking so hard from excitement.

I also called yesterday and wasn't able to get any information about my standing. She said to call back at the end of may when they had formed the waitlist and started accepting people. Up till now I have three update letters, one letter of intent, and now a phone call. I really don't know what else to do but wait. I want to know before June because either way I'll be moving across country and need to look for a place to live etc. I'm hoping for an acceptance in the next couple of weeks

I think it would probably be really suspicious if a lot of people called next week asking for Irene haha.

I interviewed in January, was put on the alternate list at the end of February. About 2 weeks later I wrote a snail-mail letter telling Wake Forest that I reflected hard over the waiting period after the interview and I still strongly wanted to be considered.

I then got waitlisted at my other top 2 schools. After lots of consideration, I wrote Wake another snail-mail letter about 4 weeks ago that said regardless of what the decisions are at the other schools, I truly believe Wake is the right school for me and I would accept their offer if they extended it. They offered me a spot 2 days ago.

So that means I'm going to Wake now!

Lol me too! Good thing I have a busy week planned so I won't spend ALL my time thinking about it. Its like when we were waiting for interviews 9 months ago all over again!

I was looking at least year's waitlist thread and checked the calendar and it seemed people were getting accepted on random weekdays. And usually more than one went out per day. It'll probably be one or two days from now that they actually start pulling off the waitlist.

So did anyone else who is on the waitlist forget to send Wake their federal tax returns and fill out Need Access by March 15 (supposed to submit them "regardless of acceptance status")?? Now I'm worried that if I get accepted, I won't be able to get financial aid. I did send them my FAFSA, but didn't remember to do Wake's other financial aid stuff since I hadn't been accepted (and still haven't)... I'm probably going to have to call them tomorrow or something

Same. I was simply told to send in my FAFSA form and then more information would be sent to me if and when I was accepted.

I guess no one has gotten in on SDN over this past week? I only sent my FAFSA as well and haven't gotten any emails otherwise. I also wasn't able to get where I stood on the WL when I called about a week ago. Hopefully this week brings us good news 👍

Don't be discouraged. I think we're all getting similar answers. She may not want to get our hopes too high, but it doesn't mean that we're out yet. Last year's numbers are promising for waitlisters like us.

So I talked to Financial Aid, and the March 15 deadline for Need Access/tax returns is a hard deadline, so I would not be eligible for institutional scholarships this year if I get off the waitlist (but could apply for future years). I still would be able to get federal loans, though, since all they need for that is the FAFSA. Kind of sucks...

I think what really helped though was three update letters, one letter of intent, and a phone call. they really like you to show them how much you want to be there.
