So did either of you attend the welcoming Q&A session the night before the interview? If so what was the attire like? Casual?
Better late than never?

I didn't go to the Q&A, partly because I was there for the interview on Wed. afternoon and I would've had to leave and come back a couple hours later for the Q&A. Mostly though, I didn't go because they really answered a lot of questions during the day. When the med students come to give you the tour, they have lunch with you and there are NO adminstrators/professors of any kind in the room. So you really can ask questions freely and get an honest answer during that period. I felt like all the questions I had were answered.

As for what they said about the evening Q&A, though, they said it was super casual, no dress code, no strict do's or don'ts. Just an opportunity for you to get more exposure to the school and students. GL if your interview is coming up! Here's hoping for good news for us all in Nov. :luck:

I received Secondary invite weeks ago but declined to submit because I was out of money. Will it be too late to submit it now???

Just got an interview invite, my first one! Complete mid-august.

Ejensen2---was this EDP or Early Assurance?

Didn't apply EDP, as far as I can tell Albany doesn't offer EDP or early assurance. I interviewed 9/16. On my interview day we were all told that AMC doesn't usually announce any acceptances until mid-November (MSAR says 11/1). I was also under the impression that regular acceptances can't be announced until 10/15 as mandated by AAMC? I don't know what to make of this!! It is from the same email address as the other admissions correspondence, and has the correct contact information for the Director of Admissions. I emailed, but will follow up with a phone call on Monday. What do you guys think?

Sounds OK.
I am surprised given the 10/15 criteria for acceptance, and given you and others were told that you would not hear until November, but here is one in the bag for you. Congrats.

Interview invite 10/1! IS
secondary submitted Aug 1
don't know when I was completed...

Acceptance already?! woah! Congrats!
Maybe I was awesome/terrible enough that they'll tell me before November...

still waiting for AMC to receive LOR...6 weeks and counting =[

:scared:

I would have my professor send in another letter. I, personally, don't think it should have taken that long to scan in a bar code.

*Whoops for some reason, I misread AMC for AMCAS. I called after my 30 days and the lady downloaded them on the phone for me. She did say that it will take a while to confirm that I'm complete.

Interview invite today! Finally .. first one 🙂 So excited!

when did you get the complete email 2050?

Are you saying they still haven't downloaded your LORs from AMCAS even though they've been there?

If this is the case, just call them! They can update the site for you, although you still won't be complete until you get through the long line that you are already waiting in. But it will make you feel better maybe. They do estimate 30 days so I wouldn't call them unless it's been that long.

I just noticed that the Albany status page has changed to:

"Although letters may be available to us for download from AMCAS, due to volume it may take up to 30 days to reflect receipt of letters on the status screen."

I'm a few days over 30 days now, so I'm hoping they are able to download them soon!

Wow I guess they can't keep up. Must mean a lot of applicants this year...

when did you get the complete email 2050?

I never actually got a complete email from them .. I was randomly checking the status page on their website, and at some point, they switched the "no" to a "yes" in terms of having all the required docs .. but they never sent me anything else before this

Hi all!

So I just scheduled my interview on the morning slot for 10/21 eeek .. I read through old posts, and it looks like general feedback for interviews is positive, which makes me a little less nervous.

For those of you have interviewed, was there any prep you did or would recommend? I'm planning to go over my AMCAS activities and being able to describe/explain them. SDN Interview Feedback mentioned a lot of ethical questions before .. is that still the case? Or pointed questions about weak spots in your application?

If anyone post-interview has any feedback, it'd be super appreciated. I tend to always get panicky and given this is my first one, its like 100x worse... thanks! 🙂

Know your application, know your stance on key ethical issues (physician-assisted suicide, abortion, etc), and be yourself! Try to harness the nervous energy for a good result, kind of like being nervous enough for a test that you knock it out of the park, but not so nervous you get sweaty palms and feel like you're going to barf. Good luck! :luck:

Just got the complete email today. Anyone knows in approximately how long I will hear from them again? Another month seems to be the norm around here.

I just got the complete too! 🙂
Here's to hoping!

Does anyone know how or when Albany does acceptance or rejection notification? Maybe starting tomorrow?

They said during the interviews that they'd start sending out acceptances in early November. Last year it seems to have been early December.

Just a few minutes ago!

3.73cGPA, 3.74sGPA, 33Q OOS

Interview on October 28th!
Complete around September 15.

I sent my secondary in on Sept 10th, because they didn't send me their secondary until Sept 7th... and I'm still not complete. Takes quite a long time doesn't it. They received everything else from me in August.

But waiting is def still better than rejection.

So I got the certified/complete email on 9/1. Still haven't heard anything, though it sounds like people done way after me have... ugh is this a bad sign?

Yeah I'm in the same boat basically... I don't think I ever got a complete email, but I submitted my secondary on 7/22 and it's been shown as complete on their website for months, and still no news...

I'm just glad I haven't gotten rejected yet, since they have been rejecting people already...

not really.... I submitted my apps on 7/21; with everything shown received as received, but it wasn't marked as completed until 8/25.... I just got my invite...

so apparently, it doesn't matter when you were complete since some folks submitted after me, but got complete and interviewed already...

Anyone know why Albany is unranked on US News and World Report? Is this a choice like at Mayo...

About how long does it take from being complete to hearing something from them? I have been complete since 8/27 and have not heard anything. Are they really behind? I know they dont do the silent rejection thing and said they will notify you when the screen is over. Heres to more waiting I guess.... Anyone have a rough idea of the timeframe?😴

Withdrew from 10/28 interview yesterday. Hopefully one of you guys scoops it up. Good luck! I was really excited to see this school, especially the student q & a the night before.

I submitted in July, and I don't know when I was complete...probably like mid August. No word yet either ... seems to be the case at almost every school I applied too...I wish schools would just make a decision one way or the other and not be ambivalent.

Does anyone know how the schools responds post-interview? They said the decision should be made within a week, but is the notification by email, mail, online, etc?

Does anyone have a direct email address for either Joanne H. Nanos, or an admissions officer? I don't want to send my email inquiry to the general admissions email address. Thanks!!

So no one has been accepted here since that poster on 10/1? I was under the impression that you hear back pretty quickly.

According to what they told us after my interview last week .. they committee meets the Tuesday after to review all the candidates that were interviewed Wed/Thurs before .. so in that respect, you are reviewed relatively quickly. However, in terms of actual decisions coming out, they said we should expect to hear something (I interviewed 10/21) mid-November. I don't know if that's the absolute earliest, but that's the sense I got from them .. which is why it was really weird that someone already found out they were admitted

Last year decisions weren't handed out until late November. At least according to last year's Albany thread.

Ditto. Another acceptance makes the waiting easier though 🙂

I have to wonder if the single acceptance by a poster on this forum is for real given that he/she never confirmed it after supposedly talking with the Admissions office. Atleast did not confirm on this forum. Very strange.
