Just sent secondary, as an FYI, beware if you complete a portion and then save your secondary to finish or print later. I noticed that after I saved it and reopened the file, the Yes/No check boxes go back to default of "Yes", which can be a bit of an issue if you check that "Yes" you have gone by a different name and "Yes" you have been convicted or plead guilty to a criminal offense if these are not the case...

This has got me worried. I can't remember what mine looked like before I sent it out.

I'm pretty sure it's OK, but it could opposite. I don't know if I should email them...
 
I got the same re-review status, but I am waiting for new MCAT scores...

Did anyone get a rejection? How could they not reject at this stage if they have 10,000 applicants...?

On hold for re-review = rejection.

They get so many applicants that they won't be coming back to re-review anything.

I know a guy last year that had a 21L MCAT and 2.5 GPA that got into GW based solely on the artistic content of his photo, it was a tasteful semi-nude in sepia.

I say go for it! Show them your creative side! Who wants to be 'that guy' that follows simple specified tasks?

If it is then I don't think I want to go to GW anymore.
 
I know I have mentioned this before, but for those of you who are on hold for re-review you are NOT rejected. I applied last year in mid or late september and was placed on hold and eventually interviewed. Don't give up hope.

I wish I were kidding. But if you saw the photo you would have agreed with the admissions committee.

Luckily for you interpretation of sarcasm in modern English is not a topic on the MCAT, otherwise you would need a new SDN handle.

If you check out last year's forum, SEVERAL people who were on hold earlier in the app cycle eventually received interview invitations between Nov-Feb. I am on hold myself, but I am not giving up so neither should you guys!

Hmmm I'm another one in the re-review boat. :lame: I'm not sure how to feel about this...
 
Shoot. The secondary asks:

"Have you completed all of your prerequisite coursework at an accredited American or Canadian institution?"

Does that mean that all the physics I took during study abroad is invalid, even though it came from the #1 physics research university in the U.K.? Or should I just call to clarify?

i would call, but if the credits were accepted by your home university, and show up on your transcript, i think they should prob accept it. but yea call to make sure
 
I've had nothing but problems with this application....my status has said that my AMCAS is not verified for three weeks now even though it was verified 7/16 and every other school I have applied to recognizes that my AMCAS is indeed complete. I emailed GW a couple times, got no response....so I called...the woman who answered said she talked to her boss who said he had no idea why my status would say that and that he would look into it and email me by the end of the day...that was four days ago! I don't know what to do because this is seriously stressing me out...GW is one of the schools I am most interested in. 😱
 
Submitted my AMCAS on 8/11 and received a secondary invite today.

Question: for the "most significant non-academic accomplishment" would it be appropriate to discuss being a 4 time published author for research at BCM. I feel like this could be a toss up between academic and non academic

If I can't use this i'll talk about something else, just wondering if this would suffice

I would be conservative with the definition of "non-academic" and not include anything that is related to class work or research.
 
Where are you guys seeing your application status? I sent my application off last Friday and I wanted to see if it was received yet. Do they sent you an email once they receive it with an update? Thanks!

Yes they do send an email. I got an email when they received the actual app, and then again when I was considered complete.

Haven't heard about a retraction of an interview invite. Plus, it's not like you committed a crime or something grave that would make them reconsider your app. I would just submit the info ASAP (wasn't it like three lines on the app) and just plan for the interview. I'm sure that's the last thing they would retract an interview for considering they offered you an interview without that info.

Did you not fill that portion on the application? just curious
 
I filled it out, don't know why they're asking again. I sent them an email listing what I've done so far and they said they were just going to put it in my file. Shrugs.

Lol ok. I think they are trying as much as possible to make this process more evil than it already is

Submitted 8/5, placed on hold for re-review. GWU should have been a sure thing, so this is surprising to say the least. Here's hoping I get an interview invite later this year.
 
Also placed on re-review, which I have been told is the kiss of death since GW has thousands of applications each year. With every passing minute, I am totally regretting not applying EDP to FSU.
 
I sent in the secondary few days ago...no confirmation email from them yet ... :scared:
Anyone know how long we have to wait until we get a confirmation email?

It won't take too long. It takes some time for mailing and then they process it. I believe it took me at least a good week. Maybe a little more or less, I kind of forget when I turned it in. But it was completed fast for a school that gets many apps.
 
Can we submit the secondary without the primary AMCAS being verified and while we still are waiting for our MCAT scores?

Yeah you can. I did that and it worked out ok. When they get your secondary they'll change your status to "Received Secondary but AMCAS is unverified" or something like that.

When they sent me the secondary they didn't tell me about any website where I can check my status 🙁...

Since someone posted the website, I went to check it out but I don't know what ID to use..is it our AMCAS ID and password? 😕
 
I got the "on hold for re-review" status too, yuck. Fingers crossed it will be an interview when I am reviewed again...:xf: Good luck everyone!
 
Yay!! I got a confirmation email just now saying they received my Secondary... 🙂

I know this doens't mean much but it makes me so happy! 😀:xf::xf:
 
For those of you who were invited for an interview, what does your status on their website state? Mine just says something like correspondence has been sent to you via email or something like that.

Also, when you confirmed the interview via email, did they reply to your confirmation? Thanks for your help!

does this mean i'm screwed? does GW really come back to old applications, given the sheer volume of applicants they get?
 
It has been the same status for me. People are saying that it's rare for them to interview you after that status.

Yep mine's says the same thing - correspondence has been sent...

And yes, they replied to my email confirmation 🙂


* I think I had the re-review status right before they sent me an interview. But then again, it was at the way beginning and I received an interview when the first people did too...so perhaps it was just the default one?

I got that too: it means rejection. They don't reject people early on for whatever reason, but with 10,000+ applications, they are definitely not re-reviewing apps. Probably not officially until sometime in 2011. It's theoretically possible to get an interview, but based on last years thread, I can't find any re-reviewed that ultimately did...
