these mass rejections are scary... I'm currently on re-review and hoping to survive through today.....:scared:
 
seriously gross... got the rejection email this morning too!
 
Aaaaand rejected. Since I was also rejected from Georgetown a while back, I will not get to visit DC this application cycle. Good to know they actually did re-review my file though, or so they say
 
Did everyone receive these rejection emails in the morning?
 
Wow, looks like a slaughterhouse in here today. Sorry to all who were rejected.

Assuming they don't re-open the guillotine on Monday, it looks like I (somehow) made it through this second round of mass rejections. This looks way worse than the first round, sorry again guys.

To anyone who is still in re-review purgatory with me: when were you complete? I've been complete since mid-Sept and hold for re-review since late-Sept. Wondering if they are just going through and issuing mass rejections chronologically based on when you went on the re-review list, or if it might be ranked in some way...

It looks like the dust has settled and I'm a fellow survivor. Complete 9/8 and re-review status on 9/30. I sent them a letter after being put on hold. I really think this is a good fit and I'm hoping I'll be offered an interview at some point...

Physio, I have about the same dates that you are dealing with. I don't want to talk to loud or maybe they'll come back and get us both :laugh:
Jeez, this was a massacre. Keep your head down................I've been in re-review forever............
 
dont forget to check your junk mail.. my rejection was caught in spamville.

Haha true, that thought crossed my mind before I posted! :laugh:

To nerdtastic: Yep, checked junkmail, as well as logging into their website to make sure I was still in re-review. Didn't want to post before I covered all my bases. 😱
 
*In whisper voice* I was complete in late-August, and have been under re-review since then as well... somehow made it through today...

I was complete on 9/16 and hold for re-review short after that, nothing from GWU today..still on hold :luck:

I was complete since 8/5 and still on hold for re-review. I also sent in an update letter a few weeks ago.

For those in re-review, just wanted tot tell you to hang in there. I was in limbo until February, received an interview invite in March. Although I was placed on a completely frozen alternate list in the end, I did speak with a current M2 on interview day that had interviewed in March and received an acceptance a month later. Keep checking your email being that you might receive an official notice to send a LOI if you're still interested. With this in mind, you might want to hold back on some of the lines you drop if you send an update letter soon.

Sorry, what do you mean by this? Not that I'm taking offense or anything...I just actually don't understand what this sentence means. 😳

FYI, my website status still says re-review, despite having received the rejection email. It probably takes a little while for them to update the webportal. However, if you checked all your email folders, I imagine you're probably clear. Best of luck to all of you still under consideration!
 
I have also, it seems, managed to make it through another round. And just for the record, I have been complete since the end of July. And on re-review nearly that long.

Sorry wrote that the morning after a long night at work. Basically what I'm saying is, if you send an update letter now filled with everything you've been doing between now and the time you filed your application, you may end up having to submit the same information if GW adcom sends an official request for a LOI. I'm not sure exactly how many people on my interview date received the request as I did, but I know there were a handful. My assumption is that at least for those being held for re-review, the official LOI adcom requests is a step before offering interview. I'm only guessing based on my experience though. Good luck!

noalias, would you mind copying and pasting this e-mail? This is the first I've heard of it. I survived the mass rejection, but am still in re-review.
 
The Dean of the medical school apparently just resigned. Does anyone know if it has to deal with the probation?
 
Didn't have time to post b/c I was at another interview on Friday, but I was rejected 😡.

I got an Interview Invite today after being on Re-review for months! Really excited about this school definately one of my favorites.
I thought for sure I was on the "silent rejection" list, but apparently not!! So keep your heads up if you've been on re-review for a while.

I'm put on re-review (pre-interview) and waiting to hear back from admin comm soon, too.
I was completed around Mid-October.

Could you please let me know when your application was completed?

Wow, mass rejections suck. I'm still on re-review. Completed mid-October. Maybe I'm on "re-review" still because they haven't actually reviewed me again yet. Guess only time will tell.

Nope, I was rejected pre-interview. Had been on hold for re-review for about a month.

This whole application process is so weird. I have interviews at some great top 20 programs but not here. Oh well, :luck: to you and everyone else still waiting to hear anything.
 
I also made it through last week's mass rejection.

Complete 7/27. On hold shortly after. :xf:
 
Three weeks post-interview, just got an email asking for "updated information on personal/academic/professional experiences from April 2010 to Present". A bit worried now. Is it good (i.e., "give us further justification to accept you") or bad (i.e., "give me some reasons we shouldn't reject you")?

This is a gap year for me, so I'm a little worried on how to present myself adequately. I have been doing meaningful things to try to fill my time, but I haven't been working/volunteering/studying 40+ hours a week or anything, simply because . . . I know this is the only year I'd have off for quite a while before getting into the next eight years (or more) of med school and residency, and after really throwing myself into my undergraduate work, I'm glad to have time off to relax and spend time with family, who are very close to me. I'm not a lazy person, but the gap year was a deliberate choice to give me time to recover from near burn-out.

I think the first option is the case. Give us more reason y we are making the right decision in choosing you.
Put it in a good way and say how it is meaningful. at least you werent pushed to the side on a WL

I hope you are right. I know it sounds lucky that I even got an interview at GW, but after being rejected from several other schools and hearing mum from the rest of them, GW is pretty much the only school I have high hopes for at the moment, and I would be crushed beyond relief if I did something to make them dislike me at this stage.

I applied on the first day I could (amcas early June were ready, and must have been complete at gw a few weeks later? Don't remember exactly but I was on re review pretty much since July probably
 
Just received an interview invite by email! 😀 They scheduled me for late January.

Secondary was complete around July 6th, then on hold since about mid to late July. So for all the rest of you on re-review, don't give up hope!

3.7 cumulative gpa, 3.5 science gpa, 31S mcat

Quick question. I checked my status and it says "committee has reviewed and you're 'on hold' for a later date"...does this mean that the committee actually reviewed the app and I wasn't rejected? I'm curious as to what this specific lingo means...or they never reject anyone on the first round.

I'm not really sure what you're confused about... it's exactly what it says. There are no smoke and mirrors, nothing to be interpreted. Your application has been reviewed and they've decided not to reject you or offer an interview. GW does reject some people outright, but you (like me) are in limbo... 😕
 
Is anyone as excited as I am to visit D.C?? I'll be interviewing on the 17th and I'll be there for 5 days, making a mini vacay out of it! I've already been looking at housing, I'm claiming my acceptance! I'm ready to move to DC!!!!😀

lol, I live in Maryland, but im also really excited about my interview at GW. I actually drove up to GW a couple of days ago just to look at the school and hospital. Its really a work of art. I interview a day before you... Gluck hopefully we'll be classmates in the Fall.

Well the good news is, if they were indeed bad at their jobs, they will be gone. That means new faces and a fresh start for the incoming class. At least it shows that the school is serious about bettering its organizational structure...
