So for the first question (full-time activities) can we list being a full-time student? I have a part-time job but I guess I shouldn't list that?

Yes, they say you can list academics. Just list everything you're doing for the next year. I don't think there's anything wrong with listing a part-time job along with your academics. I think they just want to see you're keeping yourself busy and doing something productive so list both.

It's tough but don't make this question harder than it really is. I just put whatever I'm actually doing this upcoming year. I'm a full-time student, listed all the paid work I'd be doing, all the volunteering, the clubs I'd be involved with and my research projects.

Literally, whatever you are doing with your time (that is productive and not taking place in a bar. Unless you work there.).

Why wouldn't you list your part-time job?

If I remember correctly though, the question asked what are you going to do if you have graduated from college... but I could be wrong. It was a while ago.

Anyway, if you do fill it out, don't sell yourself short. That part-time work means you have more obligations to work around while you're in school.

It doesn't refer to graduated. It simply asks what will you be doing for the next year that accounts for full-time activity (30-40hrs/week), and in parentheses they include activities such as education. They just want to know you're being active and not sitting at home on the couch all day.

Ahh, nice. Good call. I couldn't remember what it said.

I completely agree with their reason for the essay.

Just got the secondary!! Hopefully it's not too late in the process. I'm going to try to finish it and send it in a couple days. I'm still waiting on one more recommendation letter though. Hopefully they send it asap so I can get everything in! I really like this school!! :xf:

I have gotten my application verified by AMCAS, sent in the secondary, and got the email that GW received my secondary. However, I'm also still waiting for one letter of rec to come in. Those of you in the same boat...what does your status message say? Mine says that my application has not yet been verified by AMCAS...same for you?

I got an email saying that my application was "complete"--all materials were received.

WAY too early to start worrying! Its not even august!

Interview people, did they email you to check or was it just on your status page?

I got my interview on the 23rd...and they emailed. They also included a date on which we were to show up.

Now on the "on hold for re-review" status. Hopefully this ends up as an interview!

Hey Guys,
What did u talk about for question number 3??😕

Now on the "on hold for re-review" status. Hopefully this ends up as an interview!

Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that in order to do a thorough review of your file it may be several weeks until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process.

Is that the message you have?

I really can't believe they are already sending out interview invites!!! That's crazy!!! I thought it would at least be a few more months until they would tell anyone!!

Anyone who got an interview, would you mind sharing your stats? Just curious 🙂

31R, 3.6 science, 3.8 all other.

AMCAS verified 7/15, sent secondary 7/19, complete on 7/22, interview invite 7/28, interview 9/24.

ridiculously excited.

On hold for re-review...guess they hate me :-(. Was complete on 7/21.

Or that it is still July and there are still over 7 months left of interviews and not everyone gets to go first.

Or that...but I'm demolishing my self-esteem now so that when I do get an invite, I'll be high as a kite.

Anyone other than hono get an invite yesterday? Please let us know your completion dates if yes. And CONGRATS hono!

Your strategy is excellent 👍 I'm adopting it pronto! Imitation is the best form of flattery 😀

Nope, its a nice way of saying that they looked at your app and now they are going to wait a little bit and then look at it agian before they make a decision.

secondary received july 7, complete july 20
34P, 3.5 sGPA, 3.7 cGPA

interview september 24!

ok im getting rly sad now- I was complete on like 7/5ish- I got the re-review stuff. urgh. I wonder what process they are doing this by. I have 3.75 sci 3.65 cum and 33S composite mcat.

It appears they are doing some kind of weird cutoff system where my composite mcat doesnt cut it even though theya re the only school ive seen that says they take the best subsection scores! :scared:

I will hang in there but will not be happy if i dont get invited till like december
As for the rest of you good luck with interviews hopefully ill be there one day! :luck:

I dont think there's a cut-off system. I'm guessing its more subjective than that.

interview invite for 9/28 woot!!!

my mcat score hit the 20th and the invite came the 28th.

Nope. Applicant from Yale, sGPA 3.9, cGPA 3.8. 38R, years and years of research and volunteering. Put on hold.

Looking at last-years thread, on-hold is basically a waitlist - some people (a small percentage) get taken off and given interviews much later in the cycle, but most people get rejected starting in October. The VAST majority get rejected.

Handsomepete is bummed out.

With your stats, you'll definitely get in somewhere...unless you REALLLY wanted to go to GWU then I'd say...be happy!

I actually wanted to go here and had decent stats for it.and was put "on hold" *tear*

Same, what's up with GW!? Sigh, maybe I wasn't good looking enough in my photo.

Interview on 9/23.

I was complete on 7/23, heard about the interview on 7/30.

3.96 sGPA, 3.98 total, 32R MCAT.

Well a few people on here had the "on hold" status before getting interviews. So maybe there's still hope for us!!!

My finance' is a law student in DC. GW is my top choice med school regardless, but having my personal life in the same city as my professional life is a huge perk. Do you think this is a good thing to mention?

It's good that GW is your top school regardless. You need to have good non-fiance reasons why you want to attend the school.

I've heard it is a good thing to mention because schools want to offer acceptances to people who likely would go there given a chance. Having good reasons, on top of having a fiance in the city, would make you very likely to go there if they like you enough to offer you an acceptance.

Hi fellow sdners
Can some do me a favour. I am really keen on applying to GWU and have submitted by application but am waiting for the primary to be verified, which will be done soon. I will be leaving the country for a few months and wanted to mail off my GWU pdf document before departure. Can any kind soul please PM me the secondary as an attachment? Thanks so so much

They are tons of variables including activities, essays and so on. There is no equation for this so just hold on

re-review status here. i'm not surprised, esp considering how many applicants they get.

You have to snail mail it. They specify it is because they require original signatures.

Ahhh this sucks!
They have received and acknowledged my secondary but I'm still not verified with AMCAS. 😡
I know I submitted kinda late - July 7th (didn't make the decision to apply to non-TMDSAS schools until July) but still...

Anyone else waiting to be verified? Or how long after verification + secondary received were you offered an interview? Thanks

just got the re-review status too. do they put everyone on that status or do they actually reject people at this point? has anyone been given an interview who was "on hold for re-review"? (someone asked this question earlier in the thread but no one seemed to respond)
