[edited] It's interesting you mention that; limiting/refusing clerkships/residencies for other NY medical graduates and IMGs. For those outside of NYS, the issue--several notable Carribean medical schools (ie. Ross, St. George's) have "bought out" a number of clerkship/residency spots for their graduates and, in doing so, dilute the medical training of NY graduates (please refer:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/23/nyregion/23caribbean.html?_r=1) --is huge and is becoming more heated as time passes on. I personally don't have any negative opinions about those who've applied and/or attended medical school abroad, however, I don't want to compete with them for limited resources. I think the issue wouldn't be so severe if foreign medical schools would arrange for training opportunities in states besides NY.
I know this is totally off topic, but seeing as though we are all waiting to hear from Hofstra anyway, a little side conversation wouldn't be unwelcome, right? So... What are your takes on the matter?
