Does anyone know if applicants have to have a strong commitment to Christian principles in order to be considered?😕

There are ppl accepted that are not completely religious. However, they do give a lot more preference to Seventh-day Christians in particular.

I swear this school forgot about me. Does anyone else who was verified early still not have a secondary?

Call them or email to make sure they have everything. When I applied I had to resubmit it all because their system said my application was in, but they didnt have anything. I got my secondary about 3 weeks after resubmission.

How strict is LLU about requiring LORs from pastors? I was raised SDA, but for the last several years have been attending church at a place that doesn't exactly have established leadership. The only pastors I have ever known well haven't seen me in 12 years.

any idea how LLU feels about LGBT issues? I tried to look on their website but couldn't find anything.

I read through their handbook to see how strict they are, esp with the complaints regarding their lifestyle policies. I'm pretty sure I remember that you are to refrain from premarital and homosexual activities while enrolled. As for how you identify yourself, I don't think they can do anything about it but it's probably frowned upon.

Did they give you contact info when you received your secondary? I was verified the 1st of June and still don't have my secondary but I don't know what number/email to use to call and inquire about it. Would you mind pming me the info?

Awesome thanks! I didn't want to yank a random number off their website and then be bugging the wrong person. I really do try not to be a neurotic pre-med lol

Grrrr they supposedly sent it June 29th!!! Yet trust me when I say i have no secondary from them.

I'm kind of worried because I submitted the secondary on 7/9, and AMCAS sent my letters of rec on 7/21, but still haven't received any email saying I'm complete.

Anyone else submitted early and haven't been notified of completion?

I wouldn't be afraid to call. Their admissions lady was super nice.

Question...It says to enter your highest degree. Does that mean you can't enter two? I am both a BS and BA student. Is one considered higher than the other. How do you enter a double major?

I had same problem, I have a BS in Bio Sci and a BA in Psych.

I think I just put my BS.

K. I'll probably go with that then. Thanks. I was already leaning that way anyways since my BA is English Lit. which somehow doesn't seem as relevant as Biology.

Your major doesn't have to be relevant. Class of 2014 has 165 students with 46 different majors 🙂 there are people that have double majors, doctorate degrees, master degrees, all kinds of stuff.

Has anyone received any interview invites yet? When do they start coming out?

What LLU does is that they go to the adventist universities and interview people. After they are done with that, they'll start interviewing on campus. Last year I was part of the group that interviewed on campus for the first time and my interview was thanksgiving week. I got the invitation sometime in October. Also, if you are not SDA then interviews will be after January. You have to be patient 🙂 after my interview it took 3 months until they called me to tell me I was accepted.

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go : I will guide thee with mine eye" Psalm 32:8

To add to that the earliest anyone will hear about acceptance is December right before Christmas so even if you interview early no worries. Or that has been our experience at one of the SDA schools with the regional interviews.

Hi!

Can anyone weigh in on about how long it took them to update your LORs? I completed my secondary 8/24 and had my letters submitted to them via AMCAS 8/31. According to my application summary on their site they have not received my LORs yet. Anyone in the same boat?

Thanks!

got the complete e-mail this morning, but i submitted the app like 2 months ago.. they've had my LORS for a while. this process is too slow!

I received an email August 13th stating that my LORs had been received and just today received another email stating that my LORs have been received and my file is now complete. I see some other people had this issue too.

For those of us who are not SDA but another Christian denomination, should we be waiting until after January for interviews? And where did you get this info? Thanks!

Yeah wondering the same thing. Got the email that my file was complete sept. 14...now...crickets. Anyone get any interview yet and care to share? Thanks!

I was complete on 9/1. They may have already passed me up, but if not, it looks like a minimum 4 week wait.

I'm sure interviews will be given shortly. My guess is by late-October someone will have gotten an interview.

I interviewed at LLU last year in late November, we were the first group to be interviewed on campus and we were all SDA's. From what I have seen I would say that all of my classmates(class of 2014) that are non-SDA they interviewed after January. So you have to be patient because you probably won't know until December when they start asking for interviews in January. They send their invites through mail. I think they interview all the way through April and maybe May. If you are SDA and you don't hear from LLU by January don't freak out because I have SDA classmates that interviewed in February.

(Psa 32:8 NKJV) I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.

If any of you have questions about interviews, program, school, life as a LLU student or anything about this school/town you can email me at [email protected] make sure you put LLU question or something related to that at the subject line. I am a first year student and I will be happy to help you guys out.

God bless you guys and best wishes for you application process

For those of you wondering when non-SDA interview at Loma Linda, I just wanted to note that last year I received an interview invite just before Thanksgiving and interviewed on January 27th.

Thanks for the info and heads up. I'll be looking for the invite around Thanksgiving 🙂. And thanks Carol for your email and offer regarding info! Hope you are enjoying your first year!

So I got swamped with work and did not complete my secondaries, is it even worth sending them in anymore? I was somehow consoled by the fact that some of my friends didn't even get their MCATs back until two weeks ago, but now I'm really bummed about not having sent them in.

BCPM grad: 4.0
Overall grad: 4.0 (6 credits only)

I would at least try. As far as I know normal interview invites aren't out yet. They are still in the midst of all the regional interviews.

Interview invite via snail mail today!! Really excited bc this is where my family wants me to go to school.. Come from a SDA family. Sent my seconday in the middle of August and got the complete e-mail on September 21st.
Anyone else out there with interviews? Also anyone know what kind of questions they ask and how the interveiw format is? Thanks and good luck to the rest of you!

I did a regional interview on October 12th so I am guessing the format will be a little different but here is my experience.... Since we have met with him before and he has asked me the difficult what you would do in X situation questions before he didn't this time. However, he seemed to be trying to get me on the defense. He asked me a relatively offensive question right away and he kept on after that. He drilled me about every potential weakness in my application--have a good explanation. He also asked the typical why medicine, career goals. I included my relationship with God in my answers early on but if I hadn't I am relatively certain he would have followed up there. I had research experience and he asked why not phD. (I have never been published so I def didn't see that one coming. I am pretty sure my answer was atrocious 😳).

lol sorry. Well I did a regional interview so it is always one guy Dr. Nyiradi, one on one and only him. I think at the school it is multiple people or at least someone else doing the one interview from what I have heard (I could be wrong though). Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck and Congrats on the interview!!!

Does anyone know how many people they interview and how many people they give acceptances to? Also can anyone remember any difficult questions off hand? Thanks for the help!

The tricky thing is they interview all of the SDA kids at the SDA schools that want to regardless of whether or not their stats are competitive. My guess is they don't actually count those as interviews. If then don't your numbers will be off because a fair few from SDA schools will be accepted. If they do the numbers will be off because another fair few was never really considered in the first place just interviewed. (I really hope I am not in that category lol). I would be really interested to learn how Loma calculates their numbers? Does anyone know?

I'm SDA and I interviewed in the first round on campus last year. I think there were like 20 people interviewing that day. You get two interviews, they can be two faculty, one faculty and one student (3rd or 4th year) I had low MCAT scores so I was asked about that a lot, I got asked to explain my research project, and things about my applications, like why my GPA went down during my junior year. I don't remember having any controversial issues questions. I don't know how many get accepted, our class is like 175 people, I know some people came out of the waitlist. Dr. Nyirady does interview people, He did mine but since it was a last minute change he basically read my application as we went along. Best wishes for the interview 😀

Got an interview invite on Monday via regular mail. I'm scheduled for the 23rd of November, I'm so excited.

This is my number 1 choice! I'm nervous but hopefully I do great 🙂

Congrats! Are you Seventh Day Adventist? Just wondering if they started sending out invites for non-SDAs already

Thanks for the response🙂.. Do you mind telling me what your MCAT score was? I am on the borderline with sub par mcats (9,9,10 and 11,8,10) and just wanted to know if I had to prepare for answering similar questions. Thanks !

24 (8,8,8), 21(7,6,8), 26(11,5,10). Proof that applying to med school is not all about the MCAT 😀
