Hmm if thats the case then maybe I am not screwed because I haven't heard anything from anyone yet. I would definitely be shifted toward the bottom. I am just hoping that somewhere looks past the numbers and reads some of those excessively long secondaries.

I think most schools actually don't...🙂

LizzyM mentioned that nowadays schools use a system where "the cream of the crop" rises to the top much faster, meaning since they have our numbers in their computer, they can start reading from the top/apps with highest numbers. So applying early doesn't necessarily mean you'll be earlier than someone who is a day later, it just means you'll be in an early batch.

So yeah, let's hope that's the case anyway!

Hmm, I wasn`t aware of that, but if that is the case...then GREAT! Hope that we will get invitations from certain schools that do not review in the other apps were received!

Oh no, don't be concerned.

1) They screen
2) They're very slow...if you don't hear in at least 2-3 more weeks, then you can "be worried", but even then...they screen, so it could be that you didn't qualify. I don't know you but I doubt that's the case...

i was verified on 6/29 but didn't get the secondary until 7/29 so i wouldn't stress.

I was verified 7/14 and haven't heard anything either. I'm not too concerned. Seems we're still within the time frame it took others verified before us to receive it.

My policy is "roll with it" if it's a valuable, formative experience...and answers the question.

I wrote about my work experience in a non-medical field that shaped my understanding...

Unfortunately for you and me, maybe our approach "was the reason" that we haven't heard back from them! *gasp* I'm just kidding, I doubt that really is it...and if it is, then they have some weird process/wording of questions.....

THAT is a great episode, so is the soup nazi haha. I just watched a great one tonight too, the one where they are in the mall parking deck and can't find the car and they get arrested hahah. Classic.

I am stubbornly optimistic for all of us still. There have only been 2 invites on SDN. Given how the secondary trickled in, let's not despair until there's at least 10 invites on SDN 🙂.

Did they say this year that Thursdays are for detailed status updates? I don't remember seeing that except on last year's thread, which is before they had the whole online status thing through the app website.

Agreed. I think Loyola brings out the warm fuzzy feelings in everyone, even though they're making everyone wait so darn long 🙂 It seems like a school I would like.

Finally got this secondary. Which is good because I have everything pre-written and I'm leaving this weekend so it will be nice to get it submitted before I leave! 🙂

I wonder if these places ever find it odd that they get a well thought out 5 page packet from an applicant that they sent a packet to 12 hours prior.... hmmm

Apparently overnighting it didn't help either, as the overnights come into a separate location to be sorted (IDK.... that didn't make any sense but that's what I was told)

someone else had a similar problem earlier in this thread. I think I recall that they called the admissions office and someone unlocked their secondary so that they could access it again and print it out

There is a page attached to the email. I believe this is what you are referring to. Check the invitation to complete a secondary email and you will see a pdf attachment. It is in there.

If you are missing something from the actual online application simply email or call them and they will unlock it for you. They are extremely helpful and friendly. They did it for me the very next day.

Don't worry my friend. It will be fine. I had a friend do something similar last cycle and there was no mention of it (he was interviewed).

yeah, 25 lines on their app is a lot less than 25 lines in my word processor. Had to make some adjustments on all my essays, haha.

That is so weird cause it was the same in mine. I even went back and checked my final application which I saved. Maybe it varies cause of font?

I did too. Imagine my disappointment when I had to re-word all my essays to get it down to size once I copy-pasted them in. Haha.

If I remember correctly, I think I filled out the secondary, then paid the fee. Anyways, yes they ask about any past convictions-

Have you ever been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic or parking violation? If the answer is yes, please attach an explanation on a separate sheet.

Ya it seems as if they make the interview calls all at once. Looking at last years, a lot of individuals got the phone call at the same time

so I'm OOS with a 32R 3.76 cumulative and a 3.6 science, and I just realized that the email said I had a month to fill out and return the secondary from date of the email. Unfortunately, I got that email on July 16th. I am very interested in Loyola but I don't know how competitive I would be there and I just wanted to see if I was before I pay the 75 $, spend the rest of my night writing/printing/mailing the application and hoping it gets there before the 16th of August. any help would be appreciated!

My statistics are just a smidge higher than yours (GPA wise). First thing I would like to say is go ahead and try to send it in on time, express mail if necessary. However, I'd also consider asking for an extension because of whatever reason you had for not filling out the secondary until today...

Well I'm not necessarily going to speak for bmlax13, but not everyone has the luxury of devoting all their time to doing secondaries (taking classes, full-time work, etc.) In conjunction with people applying to 20 schools, it isn't that unreasonable to see some individuals take a month to return some secondaries.

As someone who applied to thirty schools, I understand that there are times when the secondaries just pile up on one's desk. However, in the email from this institution, the deadline is stated as four weeks from receipt of the email. Most other schools do not have that kind of deadline, so these are the schools that should take lower priority.

Thanks for understanding. Good luck with your application. I do have one last thing I want to say then...express mail it (or something like that), just so it arrives in its entirety to Loyola before your due date. It likely gets sent to some central sorting facility and THEN the admissions office, so that may take some time too.

I'm not exactly sure when it was marked complete because I never got an email but I overnighted my application on 8/3, OOS. 32 MCAT, 3.43 GPA from Notre Dame.
