I am in a similar situation. I have been waiting for weeks past the estimated response time. Has anyone asked the admin office why they are doing this? I am OOS btw... Is anyone waiting for more than a month and are in state applicants?

I interviewed late January and heard back in about a month, in state.

I've been waiting more than a month, too...I'm from PA and my permanent address on AMCAS is there, but I go to school out of state. I'm not sure if I'm being considered as an in-state applicant based on the long wait, which is frustrating. Hopefully this will be the week, good luck!

For anyone interested, I'm also In state, interviewed on 2/25 and still have yet to hear back.

I am in state and have been waiting since 2/25 so don't worry it's not just OOS.

I think it's just going to take longer since it's the end and they have a LOT of applicants to make decisions on.

Just hang in there everyone it shouldn't be much longer.

does TCMC have a second look day? if so, when is it? thanks.

I interviewed on February 18th and I just called TCMC, they said the decisions have been made but, they are still waiting for final approval and will hopefully have the decisions out in the next 2 weeks. SIGH.

I guess I can stop praying now since my fate has already been determined =/

ANOTHER 2 weeks?? sigh what does final approval mean...

Hmm...yeah what is "final approval" exactly? If decisions have been made why not just release them?

Knowing that they made a decision but are holding off on telling us is going to drive me crazy!

Gave up my acceptance last night. Hope this opens up a spot for someone else. Good luck

Its probably a good thing actually. They may be waiting to see if some more accepted spots open up (because they may want to accept you ASAP, but don't have the spot). Hold tight.

See but have they been holding off on decisions for everyone or just for some? Because if no one has been receiving status updates for a while then there's bound to be a decent number of waitlists and rejections when decisions are finanlly posted for us.

How many of us are still left waiting? I've only seen one person on here who received a decision (it was 4 weeks after) who interviewed the same day as me.

i believe that person was md/phd...their deadlines probably differ from the regular MDs

Yeah, Im curious about his stepping down too. Why exactly is he stepping down? Anyone know? The article just said because he wants to pursue other opportunities...whatever that means. Is this a normal thing to happen/abnormal??

I was talking to my parents about this and they think it sounds like he was asked to leave... If that's true, I wonder what he did. As someone who is on the waitlist and already accepted to the MBS program, I feel rather unsettled about this. Hopefully at the Second Look Day they will have an explanation.

I don't think he was asked to leave. They would have found a permanent replacement before asking him to step down. The fact that they have an interim dean makes me think that he just wanted to pursue other opportunities. I really expected him to stay at least until the inaugural class graduates, though.

That's definitely a possibility too. Either way, the timing is pretty awful.

Hm, as TCMC being my first choice thus far, this might make me think again at my other options. Anyone else concerned as well?

We (the students) at TCMC were pretty surprised. There are a lot of rumors, mostly regarding him being asked to step down, but nothing is substantiated so it's just depending on what we've been told (which is the same as in the article.) It's a bit of a tumultuous time at TCMC but we're working through it. Dr. Clifton promises to be a good acting dean for the interim.

Will there be any kind of meeting with the students so they can voice their concerns? I'm just worried that a change in deans will mean a change in curriculum, tuition, etc. Are any of the other students worried about those things?

As an incoming student, I am. I was pretty set on TCMC over my other options until I heard this, now there is a bit of creeping doubt.

I don't understand everyone's trepidation. A dean does not define a medical school. It's a community made up of students, faculty, staff, etc. Changes to curriculum are no doubt proposed and implemented by a committee and not strictly the dean. As for tuition, that's definitely set by a board of trustees. TCMC is going to have a brand new, state-of-the-art facility next year and I'm sure the new dean will do a great job. They don't give those jobs to just anybody, after all.

I'm sure you're right about those things...but the dean is still the leader of the school...I mean, he must have some influence over matters of how the school is run, etc. Right?

lol penndoc just nailed it. I was going to pretty much mention the same thing. The dean is a leader, but not the main guy. I wouldn't be worried about him leaving. The faculty at TCMC are all leaders and good people. Lol when we interviewed, we saw the Dean for what 5-10 minutes on our interview day? Big woop, so we don't know who he really is. Just relax, the faculty and new dean will do a fine job. Ya, TCMC will have a very nice facility. I wouldn't worry about going to TCMC b/c of the dean leaving.

For me, my problems don't reside with the dean or his replacement... I think it's quite obvious that a dean doesn't make the school. However, I feel that his abrupt resignation could reflect internal issues or instabilities within the school itself, its administration, and its direction/future. Furthermore, now that this has happened in addition to the fact that no one has received an admissions decision in over a month suggests a lack of reliability, transparency, and responsibility. If we're expected to shell out $60k a year for our education, I think we reserve the right to be concerned about the internal status of our medical school. Don't get me wrong, I love TCMC and look forward to attending it... just voicing my opinion is all. Oh well.

the fact that no one has received an admissions decision in over a monthQUOTE]

Yeah this will be week #7 for me so I'm hoping they'll get the final approval to release our decisions soon (and hopefully good ones for us :xf:).

In a way though, like someone previously mentioned, maybe this extended time could be a good thing. If say someone drops an acceptance, someone who would've been waitlisted (and would have to wait until May 15 before being ranked and given another decision) would receive an acceptance instead.

I kind of feel like this is more likely the situation at this point in the interview cycle. Either way, I've been in contact with the admissions office and they seem to be running full steam ahead with things like the Second Look Day, Financial Aid, and other information.

Okay let's take bets...how many of you think we'll hear back a) this week, b) next week or c) the week after?

We can make a game out of this to prevent losing our sanity!

when's is/was the last interview day?

when's is/was the last interview day?

Well on their website they said they offered interviews until March, but there was someone on here who had an interview on April 1. I'm guessing that was most likely the last interview date.

Edit: Actually they said that there was also an interview date for April 4 so maybe that was the last day?

Withdrawing from TCMC this week. It's a great school, but I was lucky enough to get into a school on the west coast. Good luck!

Thanks for letting us know and congrats Esteban on the west coast acceptance!

I bet you that means that most of us who haven't heard back were rejected. They probably decided to waitlist a few (as we've seen), and only are not sending out the rejects because they aren't having a good feeling about how many people are going to give up their acceptances and go elsewhere with the news of the Dean leaving. Why they don't just send out a bunch more waitlists I'm not sure..

This is just what it seems is happening... who knows though, maybe the reverse is true and most of us still waiting are sitting on acceptance letters :)

This doesn't make sense to me. Why wouldn't they send out rejections before waitlists? If they are sure they don't want someone attending their school, they're not going to transfer them from the reject pile to the waitlist pile. It makes more sense that the ones who haven't heard back are on waitlist. Because, if those who have acceptances turn them down, then the waitlist will move.

In any case, I don't really think it's productive to make guesses as to why people aren't hearing back, or what decisions have been made because I feel like it's more complicated than we can theorize. Plus, I'm sure the case is different for everyone.

Keep hope alive, people.

Agreed. As random as their process might seem to us, they have a method to their madness. All that we can do is be patient and hope for the best.

However, I am still sticking to the "no news is good news" idea that they emphasized at the interview. Like dctrAM said I don't think that they would keep holding off on making a decision about an applicant if they knew that they weren't going to offer him/her a seat.

Not just TCMC holding back on notifications. I'm betting the people waiting to hear are being held because they don't want to wait list you because the class is full/near full. They're probably waiting for people to drop their spots so they can hand out acceptances rather than wait lists. I like everyone's attitude in here! Keeping it optimistic.

guys, what have the admin people said on the phone when you have called about all this waiting?
