I hope you're right! On a side not though, the facebook group dropped from 77 to 75 within the last hour. hope that means people just withdrew! As you can tell I'm optimistic lol.

Ok, what now?....I haven't got any emails yet but just the ACCEPTED sign on my status....Are they gonna email me the notice with the link to pay my deposit online? Is that true it will take few days for the system to accept my deposit since I just got accepted? If I choose to pay by check, can I just send them a $100 check solo or do I have to wait to receive the snail mail and send the check with some form?

Hey...Anyone here from NY knows if we still have to apply for in-state residency for medical school? I come from Queens, NY and got considered as in-state student for undergraduate..not sure if I still have to apply for it as a med student....thanks!

I'm thinking that if you were in-state for undergrad, you should also be considered in-state for med school, with no need to reapply. Your primary residence was listed as Queens for at least the last 4 years?
 
Do you guys think that the waitlist is moving slowly here? At other schools it seems to not be moving but here I feel it is different? What do you think? Also, has anyone called admissions to ask them how it is going?

Well, it was moving at a very steady pace for a while, and it seems to have slowed down for now. Another wave could be coming soon, though.
 
Does anyone know if a calendar for the 2011-2012 school year has been posted yet so we know when breaks and such happen? I can't seem to find one.
 
Accepted this morning via e-mail from Dr. Severin...I'll most certainly be matriculating! 😀

Hey guys...Anyone knows if there is a deadline to withdraw from a med school? I was also accepted to a DO school and I will withdraw for sure cause I will definitely go to buffalo. However, I kinda want to wait until I get back to the US (July 7th) to tell them....and I want to know if that would be a problem. Thanks!

They usually only give you a week or two to withdraw after any post-May 15th acceptance. I would do whatever it takes to withdraw from the DO school right now. Even an email to the admissions office should be fine.

Thanks Max... I actually got accepted on November 2010 so I guess it is still fine for me to tell them now. Anyways I just emailed them about my withdraw and hopefully they won't punish me or anything lol (I understand the deposit is not refundable, which was $1500 🙁 )

Well that's not nice. Why is the deposit so huge for that school? Other than losing out on that money, you should be fine now.

I think it is a common thing for DO schools (Another DO school I withdrew last year was asking for $2000 but I withdrew without paying anything)......I think they are afraid that the students they accept end up going to MD schools so they charge you ridiculous amount of deposit....but people who get accepted to MD schools would definitely go MD anyways so yeah it is not nice and stupid!
 
been calling admissions all day and nobody's home. Maybe no acceptances today? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
My friend was on the middle of the list and got in recently (either today or friday)... so middle tier still moving =)
 
Hey all- I was accepted this morning! This is my number one school and thus I fully intend on going! Two of my friends were also accepted this past week from the mid third and they will be withdrawing so there is hope still!

I know you do not recognize my name. Truth is I have been that person who stalks this website but hasnt posted. But I truely appreciate all you have done to help me keep on top of this process. I wish everyone on this list the best of luck -- you clearly all deserve to get in. Especially thank you to maxwell-- your posts gave me hope when there was none. Good luck with everything.

Not much has happened lately, but there could be some more movement soon. Last I heard, Mr. Rosso estimates that people in the middle third have an approximately 70% chance of acceptance.
 
The waitlist hasn't moved in a while, but that could change soon.

From what I've heard, starting this week, anyone newly accepted off the waitlist will have to respond immediately within hours (or else be left behind).

Make your phones ring loudly and obnoxiously, answer every unknown call no matter what (pull over if driving), check email and the status site 100 times a day, do whatever it takes!

For anyone holding an acceptance to another school, be prepared to make a split-second decision to either switch to UB, or keep the current acceptance (difficult, I know).

Thanks man. Downstate is my top choice school, so I will go there no matter what. Buffalo is an awesome school too, and I really hope you can get in man.

Oh yeah. You really need to make sure you have your phone next to you 24/7 man (and make sure they have all kinds of reachable numbers of you). They literally call you out of the blue and tell you that you are accepted, and have few hours to decide. For me, from 10:30 am to 4 pm.... So if you already hold on to an acceptance that you are not quite sure of, make sure you start comparing buffalo to the school you got accepted, so when it comes to the acceptance, you can make your decision faster without much struggle.
