That'd probably be a good idea given wait list specific questions like this one: Will our web status indicate our waitlist position or do we have to call?

ACCEPTED!!!!!!
My first acceptance!!!!!!!!!!! The interview was my best so far. 1 student and 1 doctor. It was very conversational, and they just wanted to get to know me better. The school itself was amazing, and the people couldn't be friendlier.
I'm still in shock 😱

i was rejected a while ago 10/15 but yea this place's interview is tough. i had 2 interviews, one with 2 medical students (same time), and another with 2 doctors (same time). some questions were tough and it was difficult especially with the 2 doctors because they kept interrupting each other and asking different questions and making comments...
That's odd. As far as I know no one on my interview day (middle of September so pretty early on), had any 2 on 1 interviews. I found some of the questions a bit odd, but some of them were also really interesting and made for a nice change relative to the standard interview. At any school there is the chance that the interviewer will just not get along with you. I haven't heard of this being a particular problem at Buffalo. Is anyone else interviewing on the 12th of January?
has anyone who has been accepted received any further packets/mail/information from buffalo after sending in the signed letter and deposit?
hey maxwell. yeaaa, i'll probably end up calling soon, thats my best bet.I haven't heard of anyone receiving any additional materials yet, and completely wish I was in the position to ask your question (anxiously waiting on the waitlist).
I take it you are accepted? When did you interview, and was the acceptance outright or off the waitlist?
Your best bet is to call the admissions office and ask when to expect more materials.

and i interviewed in mid december, and was accepted the next day. it was my first acceptance - i was soo happy/relieved.
ive seen you on the forums for some of the other schools we both applied to - i'm not much of a talker on them tho.
i wish you all the luuuck with your waitlist and interviews!! im sure you'll get in to UB - youre incredibly passionate about going there. gluuuuck!! and thanks =)
Can any current students comment about the safety of the neighborhood surrounding the school? And how is the cost of living here?
thanks
I'm not a medical student (yet), but I have lived in Buffalo for my whole life, and attended UB for undergrad, where I had classes on both campuses.
The immediate area surrounding the campus for UB medical school is honestly not that safe. You have to watch out for crime in the University Heights neighborhood of Buffalo, but if you don't venture deep into that area, you will be fine. The campus itself is safe enough.
There are plenty of nice and safe suburban and urban areas to live if you wish to attend UB medical school. Amherst and Williamsville are very nice, and Kenmore/Tonawanda isn't bad either. If you want to live in Buffalo city proper, North Buffalo and Elmwood Village aren't bad at all, and there are also lofts downtown with very reasonable rent, where some med students choose to live.
In most cases, it is an extremely good idea to own a car if you move to Buffalo. Public transport options are available, but are minimal compared to what you might be used to in a bigger city. On the plus side, traffic is very reasonable here.🙂
Have you been accepted to UB, and when did you interview?
Hey guys
Is UB still giving out interviews for this cycle or are they done?
The Waitlist Thirds will be released on Feb 1 in the morning.
Still hoping/waiting for an interview here!![]()
👍. He is also very active with first and second years, so I would definitely look forward to interacting with him in med school should I end up at UB. I also interviewed with him and really enjoyed his take on things. It was definitely one of my most enjoyable interviews.I have been lurking around SDN for a while and have yet to show my love for this school. I interviewed on 11/17 and was accepted. I absolutely loved the dean of admissions, who was one of my interviewers. He was so straight forward and his attitude towards the process was incredibly refreshing. Buffalo does not jerk you around- and I love it.
I am not sure whether I will go here, but it is definitely up there as one of my top choices. I wish all med schools were like Buffalo- the process would be a lot less painful.
I just got an email fromt the school saying my application is now complete, I had sent in my aplpication on the 10/4 but they needed a copy of my green card but I had gotten my citizenship so it was a big mess. Do you guys think I still have a shot at an interview?

Just got an interview invite at this school! Completed back in July. That was one hell of a wait.

You'll be fine. And at SUNY-Buffalo a waitlist position is not a bad spot to be in, since it moves quickly (have to reply w/in 24hours to hold your spot), and many many people matriculate that way. A classmate of mine didn't interview until late Feb/early March last year, was waitlisted in April, was accepted mid-June. Congrats on the invite and good luck!
Ha, you posted that while I was typing mine. Beat me to it.![]()
Haha guys...thanks sooo much!! Can you also disclose something about the actual interview day? 😉 I want to prepare but really don't know where to start..it will be helpful to know the composition of that day, the type of questions they like to ask, and etc....Thanks!!!
Just received an invite today.... but I'm considering withdrawing my app at UB.
