I know it's super early for this, but I've set up a facebook group for everyone coming to The Ville next year. Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to all still waiting to hear. Just type University of Louisville School of Medicine Class of 2015 in the search box.

I could find the 2014 group, but I didn't see a Class of 2015 when I searched. Not sure if I'll be here or elsewhere yet, but I'd like to join anyway. 🙂

Not yet. I don't know if the system hasn't updated or if I got rejected. Still waiting!

My interview group was told that we probably wouldnt be looked at until the 4th Tuesday...but I was hoping for today...

I hear you. I just want to know *something*...it's making me nervous not hearing anything yet. But I've also heard the school server doesn't update until 4 or so (I don't know how true this is), so maybe that plays a part of it as well?

To those of you that have already found out...about what time did you get an email?

My file hasn't been reviewed yet, but the last notification email got to me at 10AM. Still haven't heard today though.

I haven't heard anything either. Myabe they haven't sent out the e-mails yet?

I just really would prefer to hear something today instead of right before Thanksgiving...

Just got a status update:

"The University of Louisville Admissions Committee has not made a decision on your file. Your file has not been wait listed or placed on hold and therefore, will be made available to the committee at subsequent committee meetings."

Guess they haven't got to our files yet. Oh well. At least it's not a rejection!

When was your interview date? I interviewed in late September and got the same "no decision" email.

Accepted! Got the email around 2:30 PM.

Good luck to everyone!

I interviewed October 28th, so I didn't really expect to hear anything this round, although I suspect that a few from my date heard, judging from the way Pam explained files are presented to the committee.

I interviewed on the 28th as well. I didn't think I was going to hear anything. I really doubt they got very many done from that day. There were at least 20 something interviewing that day.

I am sure you will find out sometihng on the 24th.

I hope the news I receive on the 24th is good! It would be nice to have an acceptance in the bag before all the holidays start!

How did she say the files are presented to the committee?

Anyone here interviewing on December 2?

I have one scheduled for the second, but I was accepted elsewhere higher on my list, so I think I may withdraw. Good school and really nice people there though from my limited interactions with them.

Littlestar, when is your interview?

i just got confirmation today that my interview will be on december 1st!

anyone know what the chances of getting in once you've been invited for an interview are? (percentage of people they accept vs people they interview?)

Littlestar, I was curious about the ratio of interviewed to accepted as well. Any med students on here that have a ballpark?

According to last years MSAR:

IS
  • 392 Applicants
  • 250 interviewed
  • 120 accepted
OOS
  • 2,100 applicants
  • 134 interviewed
  • 40 accepted
The only problem with these numbers is that they are people who actually matriculated, not people who were offered acceptances. There is a book called "The Best 168 Medical Schools" which has data like you are wanting. I think it has a ratio of acceptance offers/interviewed. I will try to remember to look in it when I get home.

Hello my interview is in Dec. this is my first choice school. I am so nervous....anyway I rented a car for my interview and I want to go out to dinner the night before the BIG DAY...Can anyone tell me of a reasonable price place please? How long should it take to get to the school during rush hour?

Thanks

Depends on your definition of reasonable and what kind of food you were interested in. Lots of good food choices here. It also depends on where you are coming from for the rush hour traffic info.

Here are the numbers from the book I listed above...

# applied (total/OOS) - 2,479/2,085
# accepted (total/OOS) - 253/78
# enrolled (total/OOS) - 160/40

Then it goes on to say..."About 40 percent of interviewed candidates are accepted on a rolling basis."

good to know! i think if you're in state and get an interview, you have a pretty good chance. crossing my fingers that everything goes well on the 1st!!

hey, interesting that you're from NYC but louisville is your first choice? do you have friends/family here? traffic will depend on where you're coming from. on average, i'd say it usually takes about 20-30 min during the morning if you are within a 20 mile radius (and not coming from the indiana side). there isn't really a "rush" hour in louisville, that is, if you're from new york and are used to traffic there. anyway, i'm kind of a foodie, and love eating out. i've reviewed a few good places on yelp. PM me if you want more info!

2008 admissions stats...

total: 2332 applied, 386 interviewed, 256 were accepted, 155 enrolled

in state :432 applied, 279 interviewed, 185 were accepted, 120 enrolled

Out of State:1900 applied, 107 interviewed, 71 were accepted, 35 enrolled

I'm guessing this is the totals accepted including waitlist movement... but based on these #'s, interview seems to offer about 2/3 chance of getting in...

Yes I will PM you🙂 Thanks. No I have no family or friends there, so I will be real dependant on my UofL family to take care of me. I got accepted to a NYC school, but I am hoping that I am able to say UofL wants me. I am interested in the rural program and research at the school. Most of all I want the small town major, feeling cheap cost of living in the city of Louisville. I am not a sports fanatic, but I know UofL is a division one in basketball. Please wish me luck I want to be here next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍

i replied your pm... not sure if it went through though, cuz i did it on my phone and i can't find it in my sent folder. !

Agreed. Not looking forward to Black Monday though.:scared:

First year, about a month in I think, all your classes' first tests are on the same day. It's a Monday, and you have a whole day of tests, one right after the other. It is gonna suck. At the end, the second year students have a barbecue set up and waiting for all of us. Rite of passage I guess.

I was just perusing this thread and saw this. I'm a 2nd year at UofL and I just wanted to let y'all know that they don't do Black Monday anymore. It used to be the day your first Histology test and Gross Anatomy test were on the same Monday in September. Now there's a small Histo test sometime at the end of August, your first Gross test is on a Friday in mid-September, and you second (bigger) Histo test is that next Monday. It's called "Grey Weekend" now.

However, starting the second semester first year it switches to our famous block schedule where every 5 weeks you take all your exams together in six 1-hour blocks with all the subjects mixed together. There are 3 each semester.

I had an in interview back end of October and Im OOS. But still havent heard from them with my decision. Good luck!!!

Yeah, I was there. You got lucky by not having a *certain* interviewer who specialized in the weird questions and comments. I feel like I handled it a little better than others, though, based on their reactions.

I'll send you a PM soon.

haha yeah i think i did get lucky, considering some of the other experiences today. thank goodness for sdn's interview page, which is how i prepared for the cell question, even though i wasn't asked it.

I just found studentdoc today! But, I interviewed Oct. 5 and found out I was accepted on Oct. 16! I was also accepted to UK the next week. It's difficult to choose between the two. Such awesome schools!!!!! Good luck to everyone that is applying or on hold!
