They really do get tons of emails! Took them nearly a month to respond to one I sent.

I'm still confused by the vmail greeting on the status check phone line - it sounded like a generic cell phone one if you never set up your vmail account, not something professionalish like "Thanks for calling the Admissions Office. We'll get back to you!"

you can only hold one acceptance by may 15th, so that's usually when most of the movement is made. As people withdraw their acceptances, however, others will be taken off the WL





on another note, has anyone been rejected/WL for the MD/MPH program?

Yes, I interviewed for both the MD and MD/MPH. I am on the alternate list for both.

I'm OOS, so that might have something to do with why I didn't get in right away even though I interviewed really early.

And yeah, I figured I'd have to wait forever. Thanks.

I got an email today thanking me for submitting my photo, is this a common occurance? I replied to the email with a question about whether they consider "in the area" emails. I got a reply within 5 minutes!

Maybe they just like me more than everyone else 😛

They replied with a thank you for my photo, as well. And when I emailed back with a follow up question, the email was promptly returned. So I think my "month" wait for this email had to do with where I fell in line and what the topic was.

damn, sorry man. I'm OOS too but still haven't heard anything.

FWIW, dean Weisman said they expect much more movement this year than last year, but who really knows with this process.

I may have went a bit overkill, I sent it snail mail then called the admissions office (they are always very prompt by phone) and was told to e-mail it: [email protected]
I sent the e-mail Dec. 1, yet to hear back, but they usually take a week or two to get back with e-mails.

However, I interviewed for the MD/MPH but it doesn't indicate in the email whether I got in to the regular or the combined degree program. If I got into MD/MPH would it say so in the email??

My email said "The Admissions Committee at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has accepted you to our 2011 entering class at the medical campus here in Miami!" (obviously just a part of it)...I'm assuming that if it were for the MD/MPH program it would specify that? / I'm guessing that it's just the MD because it says the medical campus in Miami and doesn't indicate the regional campus or anything. I'm not entirely sure, though. I applied to the MD/MPH program as well, but I was originally just doing MD. I just turned in the MPH portion a few days ago, so I'm guessing mine's for the MD.

I interviewed on the 15th and was told that the soonest we would find out was before thanksgiving. But I just found out yesterday, and so did someone else I interviewed with. I think they are a little behind. Good luck!

I think...it's very unnerving when practically every school you've applied to is deferring, wait listing, or just plain rejecting you. You start to wonder what's so wrong with you and so right with everyone (well it seems like everyone) else. Not saying this is true of you ceng2doc, of course, but I'm sure some people feel that way and the later on we get into the application cycle, the more intense and worrisome the feeling becomes. It kind of helps to feel you're not alone.

Dude what is up with you? You go on the Fl. boards asking everyone randomly what their scores and major are. Like its actually relevant to your own individual case. Yet you have a link for mdapps but none of your stats and stuff showing on there.

Its quite annoying.

Just cuz one person has certain stats doesn't mean someone else will get an interview with the same stats or major because there's a lot that goes into it then just looking at the numbers and even with the numbers its not just looking at final GPA stats but the trends and other stuff, like where you went to school, etc. Do you look like you are unique, not just that you had a harder major but did you study something different then others that may make you stand out? Like my friend at GW was able to impress interviewers at GW and SUNY Buffalo with her religious studies major which was one of two majors she did plus a MS in molecular med and some grad bioethics courses.

So stop going around asking random people such questions when it is largely irrelevant to your own situation.

If it annoys you, just stop reading it. Don't answer, okay?

It is May 15th but keep in mind that at Miami if you are holding both a regular MD and MD/MPH acceptance you need to decide between the two by February 15th. That's an internal Miami deadline.

I had my stuff submitted just a little before you (of course that doesn't mean they looked at me then) and UM is my alma mater as well. Still waiting.

However, we have someone on here who is a student (LStone13, right?)who waited a while to get the interview, so don't lose hope.

haha thanks. yeah, i hope they haven't passed us by. i love UM so much and really hope they at least give me the chance to interview! i wonder how far through their application cycle they are by now/if there are still open seats in the class? :/ can't help but be a bit anxious at this point, but trying to keep hope afloat! good luck to us both and anyone else out there waiting.

I don't think it's necessary. But I don't think a nicely worded letter of interest would hurt you in any way.

ugh! i sure hope not! I am still waiting on an invite as well... when i emailed the admissions office a couple weeks ago, they told me they interview through march. no idea how many slots are still left at this point though. praying for one.
