Should be the end of the last week in April. I have to look up the date.

Would you look up the weekend? I want to see if it conflicts with BU's second look weekend, as these are the two schools I am trying to decide between and this would make matters worse as I would only be able to go to one of them.

Thx!

Second look is the weekend starting on 4/29. Hope you all can make it.

20 degrees on thursday, 50-ish yesterday and today. Interesting weather haha.

I'm pretty sure this won't be my last trip to Pitt tho 😛

So a bunch of people heard back last week about getting off the waitlist and none this week. Does that mean that they're done pulling people off the waitlist?

A few people posted about it, but honestly, I seriously doubt that they are done yet. Its only early March. I would expect with a lot of the March notification schools letting people know right now, there should be a lot of movement still to come. Definitely in May but I would think before that as well.

+1

Last year, there was a day in mid-March where >15 people posted that they were accepted off of the waitlist on a single day. People were also accepted later in the year as well. I would not call 3 people being accepted on a single day as a large movement. I believe that there is still plenty of room for waitlisted applicants.

Decided to come by SDN, since I found it to be such a valuable resource last year, and poke my head into the Pitt thread!

I'm a first year here at Pitt, and since the more recent discussion seems to be about the waitlist, I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring here. As has been said in this thread, a very, VERY large number of our class came in off the waitlist (myself included), some of them as late as July. So, if you're interested in Pitt, you shouldn't give up hope. What you SHOULD do, is send the admissions team love. They like to know you're interested. Tell them.

If you are accepted, you should come to second look. I came last year, and it was what solidified my decision. If you do, perhaps I'll see you there!

Ugh, I would hate to wait till July... Hopefully there's a lot of movement after the non rolling schools (Harvard, Columbia, Yale, Duke, Penn, Cornell) finish releasing decisions.

Thanks Latetotheparty! I have sent some updates and I am hoping to get off the watilist here too.

@pittsburgher. I hear ya. Lets hope that we are in the earlier bunch. Maybe even early enough to be able to attend revisit weekend.

Cheers!

What's special about March 15?

A lot of schools make all of their decisions on March 15th. Like Penn. Penn just released decisions for 2015 today. People who got in to Penn might take themselves off the waitlist at Pitt if they decide to go to Penn.

So there'll be movement for the rest of us. 🙂

Hopefully financial aid packages will bring some movement around as well.

ACCEPTED TO PITT!!! just checked status page cuz I saw someone was accepted via status-I was accepted to!! Looks like I better prepare a Uhaul!

PS-accepted off waitlist

Accepted via status page. No email, but thank God for forums. SO EXCITED that I just woke half my family up via phone. 😀

Accepted off the waitlist this morning at 8:40am EST!! I was completely expecting a rejection from another school, so this was such an amazing surprise!!

This might be the big wave we were talking about.. the timing is right. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be in it! 🙁

Accepted off the waitlist w/ a status change (got an e-mail telling me that I had a status change). So glad =]

*edit*

Forgot to mention. I e-mailed in a letter of interest exactly 1 week ago, directed to the Dean of Admissions Beth Piraino. I received a nice response from her the following morning thanking me for the update/LOI, saying that I'd be a good fit for the school, and then saying that she'd add the e-mail to my file. I really do think that the LOI had a big impact in getting me off the waitlist.

Same here, keeping my fingers crossed. Glad that for some the wait is finally over!

By the way, for those of you that e-mailed Letters of Interest to the school, did you ever get a confirmation reply that they had received them? I never did.

No pleasant surprises for me yet. I guess it's time to bust out that letter.

Hey all -- for those who got accepted off of the waitlist, do you mind sharing when you interviewed and whether or not you submitted an LOI?

thanks!

No confirmation for me. I feel like I should have sent it directly to Dr. Piriano now.

Did the same thing last week. Never got a confirmation but I called and made sure they received it. No word today either. 🙁 Pitt is by far my top choice.

I sent in a LOI on March 2nd, and I asked to receive a confirmation to make sure that they could open the file (I wrote it on a Mac). I received a confirmation on March 3rd, which said the letter had been added to my file.

Also accepted this morning. I sent an additional LoR last month, and an update 2 weeks ago.

+1 I sent one about a week ago but never received a confirmation. :luck: Best of luck to all of us! I hope we don't end up waiting 'till June... :scared:

I just got accepted off the wait list yesterday as well - interviewed 12/17, did not submit a LOI.

Interviewed way back in October. I sent a LOI in late Jan which included some updates as well.

I interviewed VERY early in the season and sent an update letter/LOI around early February.

I am wondering if Pitt will let another wave off the waitlist before second look weekend...

Oh, they've gotta. Unless they're holding off on some acceptances for students they KNOW will attend and don't need any enticing. I'd guess they'll have some more each week. Just a hunch (I have no solid--or even rumored--evidence to support that).

Anyone have information about the availability of Darragh Street housing?

You have to fill out an application online I believe. I would definitely call Property Management to confirm as the spots fill up pretty quickly.

Anyone hear about PSTP yet??? 😕

I bumped into the PSTP director last week. I was told that decisions should be made by Thursday, and he also mentioned today as a possibility. I have not heard anything yet. I forgot to ask whether decisions would come by email, regular mail, pigeon, etc. Anybody know the answer to that?

Are these apartments one-, two- or three-bedroom apts.? How do you get matched up to other people?
