Hey you guys. I also received the financial aid e-mail and I think I read that instructions will follow. I haven't heard anything so far. Have you guys already started filling out your financial aid forms? Should I just log onto FAFSA and get started or do I wait for the e-mail with instructions and everything?? Thanks!

You can fill out FAFSA even before being accepted. I'm not sure when the priority deadline is for new students, but as a current 1st year, my priority deadline for FAFSA is Feb 28.

I am an Idaho resident. I wasn't complete until 12/17, but found out last week that I would be getting a formal interview invite sometime this week to interview the last week in Feb. I see lots of good info on how to prep. I was just curious as to how many other Idahoans are going to be over in Seattle for those three days of interviews and how many Idahoans have already been accepted/rejected.

Very few idaho ppl have been rejected, very few have been accepted as well. there are 20 spots, somewhere around 5 probably were given out after the boise interviews in january. Basically they interview 45 in boise and 45 in seattle with most of the decisions being made after the seattle interviews. from what I have seen about 65 idaho kids end up going to medical school in a given year, so about 30% end up at UW

Thank you for the info patientence!

I see you interviewed in Boise, did things go well? Have you heard back from the AdCom yet? How many others interviewed the day you did? From the schedule on their interview page it looks like just 6 applicants a day, that would seem to me to mean that only 42 Idahoans will be interviewed since they are doing all the interviews in 7 days (four already in Boise and three more to come in Seattle).

Anyways, I just received my official invite for Thursday, the 24th. I am the dead last Idaho student to interview. Hopefully they decided to save the best for last!!! 😉

My day in boise there were probably~15 ppl interviewing, i would imagine it was pretty similar for the other days. I read somewhere that they interview around 90 idaho kids total. good luck, it was a good interview day, they definitely don't take it easy on anyone and the interview was very short for how intense it was, gotta make the most of 30 min.

I just got an interview invite today (totally crazy, an absolute honor, and totally unexpected!!). I'm an out-of-state applicant, and I've never been to Seattle. I'm flying into SEA, arriving at around 11am, and I was wondering what the cheapest way to get into the city was. Also, does anyone know if student hosting is available? Any tips about the city and figuring out how to navigate it would be insanely helpful!

Thanks!

You can take the light-rail from the airport to Downtown. That would be your cheapest option, and it's pretty convenient if you pack light. Just follow the signs to the light rail once you land... you'll have to walk through the parking garage but it's clearly marked. You can get off at the last stop (Westlake). The University District is northeast of downtown. If you're staying downtown, you can take the 43 bus to campus. Search for King County Metro for details on the bus and schedule. I think it's $2.25 now.

Good luck!

congrats gocard! student hosting is available, go to this website

http://uwmedicine.washington.edu/Education/MD-Program/Admissions/Pages/Directions-Lodging.aspx#hotel

and scroll down to the very bottom where it says "student host program". There is a link to a google spreadsheet that you can fill out and request a host. You have to fill it out at least a week before your interview. That page also has great directions to get to the school, as well as other transportation options (although tomh's advice is the best if you want to save money, and they don't mention the light-rail on that website for some reason) Good luck with your interview! :luck:

^
i think their bus directions are outdated - both the 194 and 174 are now defunct. definitely take the light rail - it's cheap and nice. good luck and have fun in seattle! :luck:

OOS. Cancelled my interview for Feb22. Hope it goes to one of you guys still waiting 🙂 :luck::luck::luck:

Feb. 22nd, that's a WWAMI Idaho interview spot then right? Is that one less Idahoan competing for the 20 seats?

I am assuming you are accepted somewhere else and going there, congratulations! Thanks for leaving room for the rest of us Phospho.

No, sorry not Idahoan. Im from CA, and yes I've been accepted to other schools 🙂
Good luck, I hope you get some good news soon!

OMFG, I received an invite to interview today! They scheduled me for March 1, 2011. I'm OOS, so I know it's a long shot. I'm still super excited though. 🙂

Congrats!

Here's hoping there's a committee meeting soon!

Thought I would post to say hey to all the other accepted applicants and good luck to those still waiting. I interviewed on January 31 and was extremely excited to receive the acceptance email Monday morning, because I did not receive a phone call last week (I did have one missed call last Thursday from an unidentifiable number and no voice mail?).

To those who were rejected this cycle, I interviewed at UWSOM three years ago and was rejected (I was quite naive about medicine with very little medical experience and probably wouldn’t have gotten an interview now that they have abandoned automatic interviews based on stats). I got a job in my field of study and listened to UWSOM's advice. I spent considerable time shadowing doctors, volunteering in hospitals, and reading books and articles about our health care system and I was much more fortunate this time around. If you got an interview this cycle, you are most likely already a step ahead of where I was so don't loose hope.

Hey Dookie: I might remember who you were from the interview day (the one who went to Duke?). I am the only guy who interviewed that day. I’ll see you either this fall or next fall!

Congrats on your acceptance greenpepper!! I was just accepted last week- was your excom Dr. Scott? When he called me, he said he doesn't leave voicemail for accepted applicants because his favorite part of his job is hearing how excited everyone gets 🙂

Congrats again, and see you in the fall!

congrats!!! nice to know someone else from the day got in! and yes, that was me. I definitely remember you, it was nice to have a smaller group. looking forward to seeing you again in the fall! 🙂 I'm so excited!

My excom member was Dr. Eveland, the Dean of Student Affairs (really nice person). Yeah, I just figured if he didn't leave a message he would have called me again, but he must have got busy or something. Anyways, not really something worth complaining about, just curious. See you next fall!

My interviewer left me a voicemail that said "I have some very important news for you. Please call me back at your earliest convenience." Then he didn't pick up for 6 hours lol. I was making rounds in the hospital where I work when I got the voicemail and I was so flustered that I ended up writing his callback number on a doorframe. I bet it's still there haha

Any guesses as to when the next ex-com meeting is going to take place?

I don't know, but I was figuring we'd get another round of 'still under consideration' emails last week and we didn't, so maybe it'll be soon.

Pure (hopeful) speculation, of course.

Got my second UC email. I figure it's better than not getting one!

Edit: received that email early this afternoon

Just got mine as well. And like you said goober, it is definitely better than not getting one!

also got the under consideration email this morning.

my heart races every time....

happy valentines day everyone

Just got rejected today. (Tomorrow is my birthday). Rough day.

I wish they would provide more than such a generic email. Don't they know that this is the dream for most people? I mean, "Best wishes for success in your chosen path" is borderline facetious!

Got my UC today too, trying to stay positive 😎.... understand the heart racing every time you see an email!

ahh haven't seen you post anything since your interview... congrats on making it to the UC group! How were interviews in Spokane?

I believe I'm still in the lead with my FIFTH SUC. Yeah... What, what!

LOL. Hope the sarcasm is apparent.

any MT wwami acceptances from last week? UC here, kinda bummed but hopefully there is still a chance

I am so sad to hear that. I could feel you are really passionate for this school. I know you'll get accepted if you reapply again. And an Exit Interview will definitely help you get back on track. 🙂

My best buddy got accepted. But everyone else I know (which is a good 6 people) got UC from UofM

Thats a lot of people to just get on the UC list. I wonder how many actual acceptances they give to MT wwami before the march interviews. Hopefully there is still a good portion of spots left that are just waiting for me to fill.

Rejected. Looks like I'm headed to the midwest or east coast. Good luck to everyone still in the running!

I got accepted to the Montana WWAMI. Shamefame, I believe we interviewed together at oregon as well. Was your buddy the guy you drove down with?

Yes sir, the red head, Justin got accepted. Congrats to you on getting in! I will be biting nails til after March interviews. Limbo sucks...

ahh haven't seen you post anything since your interview... congrats on making it to the UC group! How were interviews in Spokane?

Interviews in Spokane were very convenient. The tour of the campus was a little overdone, the guide talked way to much, for example over 5 min in the library, explaining what a library does lol 😀 but glad to see he was excited about the campus! I interviewed in the "fish bowl" but I think it went well. I am beyond elated to get UC - not denied is AWESOME! Just keeping my fingers crossed now 😀

anyone know when the next excom meeting (for those who interviewed in seattle) will be?

just from browsing through previous posts, it seems like the meetings have been on Tuesdays or Thursdays, so there may be one today? that's just speculation on my part, however, they might just hold them whenever enough members of the committee are free to meet.
