Maybe we all got a still under consideration email because they won't have another committee meeting this month because of the holiday. Or maybe we all had the same committee member and he's out of town. I'm trying to be hopeful 🙂...

I have another acceptance elsewhere as well, but I REALLY want to go to UW.

Got the acceptance email this morning! I received a phone call last Wednesday, but it's great to see it in writing! For those still waiting in the "under consideration" pool, don't lose heart...I was placed in that category at the previous meeting (received the "under consideration" email on 11/22).

Given the overwhelming number of posters in this thread who received the under consideration email this morning, I'm wondering if perhaps they had a shorter meeting last week and only had time to discuss a small number of candidates. Comparing this forum's mid-November activity to today's, it seems like the committee made a greater number of final decisions at the November meeting than at the December meeting. Lots of people received final decisions (both acceptances and rejections) following the November meeting; this time, it seems that a much higher percentage of people remained in the "under consideration" pool. Just a thought.

Best of luck to all of you!

^Thanks for the encouragement and congrats!!

Yeah I'm hoping the large number of 'still under consideration' emails means that maybe a lot of committee members were out of town or something.

Keeping up the hope!

great observation. i found it quite surprising that there were so many acceptances in november and so few in december. maybe that explains it.

as for those "under consideration" emails, i received one, and a few weeks later got an acceptance. so don't be disappointed at all.

got the "still under consideration" email this morning as well. i'm wondering if there's a difference in the email wording between people who actually did go thru committee vs. people just having to wait longer bec their excom member was absent.

the email i got seemed targeted to the former. it said "After evaluation of your interview and academic record, the Executive Committee of the Admissions Committee considers you to be part of a pool of applicants who will remain under consideration."

thoughts on this?

^Mine has that wording as well. Lets just hope it's an automated email they send to anyone under consideration....

Same wording on mine as well. I'm gonna go with a form email. As I haven't heard of anyone getting an email that specifically states that their EXCOM member was unable to attend a meeting.

Anyone know whether they accept post-interview LOI's? I know some school have a strict policy about not accepting anything other than legitimate updates... not sure if UW is one of them.

Also, it would be helpful for you to update us concerning significant activities that you have undertaken since your interview.

Interview invite for next week! WA resident, mid-Nov complete. I'm excited!

This is one of my top choice!! I wonder what I need to do to get in 🙂 I'm looking forward to seek help, advice, and wisdom from y'all. Congrats to y'all getting acceptance letter. I hope I get to accept in the future, haha. I'm only a freshman so I still have a long way to go 🙂

Happy New Year's eve!!

Does anyone know if additional interview invites will be going out this week? Or do they just meet every two weeks?

Congratz on the invite! wow they schedule interviews very close, huh?

I was complete early december, so I hope to hear back soon!

Thanks! I'm local and luckily my boss is almost as excited as I am and didn't mind shuffling my schedule around 🙂

Seems like about ~6 weeks turnaround after secondary complete so hopefully others will be hearing soon!

Holy crap! Invited to interview! YAY! :soexcited:

That sucks you don't know when it is! But at least you have time to prepare...

Does anyone have any tips for the interview? What is interview day like? I had a nightmarish experience getting lost in the basement of the UW health sciences building on Monday and I'm afraid to go back for any reason, let alone an interview.

Interview day is very relaxed! The staff are very friendly and I really enjoyed talking to the other applicants. As for the actual interview, that can vary quite a bit. I know people who believed that they had very confrontational interviewers who questioned them aggressively, whereas my interview panel was exceedingly friendly and nice! You need to be prepared to discuss *anything* on your primary or secondary applications, so make sure to review those thoroughly. Also be up-to-date on healthcare policy and check out the UW Bioethics website to get a feel for how to answer ethics-based questions.

Good luck! :luck:

Hey there!

Thank you! Good luck on your interview, im sure you will do great! My interview was at 3pm, and I was freaking out the entire day. However, once I walked into that room and met the panel, all fear and nervousness were gone, and the interview itself was actually quite pleasant and conversational.

In fact, I was worried after the interview that I was TOO relaxed and let my guard down... Because it just seemed like a friendly conversation and not at all an intense interrogation that I expected.

Don't worry too much about interview, just prepare and do your best...

Good luck! Hope you get accepted!

Any OOSers complete late nov/early dec get an interview invite recently?

I am a OOS applicant. My secondary was completed on 12/14/10. I am still waiting for an interview invite. Let us know when you get yours!

anyone besides Ivan been accepted this month?

Yup! 🙂 I got the phone call from my excom on Monday, too, and then received the official e-mail yesterday. I firmly accepted and withdrew my application from all other schools.

UWSOM it is! I am so excited!!

What state? I remember that scenario last year as a MT applicant.

Nevermind, I just noticed your screen name. Montana interviews are February 7-11.

I don't think idaho applicant will hear until after the second round of idaho interviews in feb. so ~6 weeks at the earliest possibly

From what I understand, the "must have" applicants recieved acceptances on January 7th (5-10 applicants) and the rest have to wait until February. I'm hoping however, that they only accepted 2 or 3 leaving 17 or 18 spots still open.

Anyone know when the OOS interviews will be held? I was told im getting an interview about a month ago, but still havent heard back about the date. This is my dream school and im praying it works out!

Rejected post-secondary this morning. OOS complete early December.

Good luck all!

edit: I'm really impressed by how fast this school gets back to you.. I wish all schools were like UW!

THIRD "Still under consideration" e-mail this morning... do I still have any hope at this point? I would feel honored to even be waitlisted!! 🙁

I got a second still under consideration email this morning. Anyone else get this?

Same here, third one this morning. This is just getting sad and I'm losing hope.

My understanding from reading previous threads is that the best apps get accepted immediately, the worst get rejected, and everybody else remains "under consideration" until the final EXCOM meetings in late March. A few people might bubble to the top and get accepted in the mean time but most have to wait until March.

Don't be discouraged if you are still under consideration, it is relatively rare for applicants to be accepted right after the interview, and I know many people who were under consideration but eventually got in. Even if you get wait listed, UW has been drawing a substantial number of students from the wait list. Last year the number from the waitlist was at least 40, so nearly a fifth of matriculants were pulled from the waitlist, which means an even greater percentage of matriculants were once still under consideration. It may be a long haul but stay positive, just getting the interview means they believe you have a lot to offer.

I couldn't agree more! I know a handful of M1 students at UWSOM who got that "still under consideration" e-mail and didn't find out until March. One of them had even interviewed at Stanford and Harvard! I also know a couple of people from this round who were rejected shortly after an interview early in the cycle, so UWSOM is proactive when they know someone isn't a good fit. Definitely best to stay positive 👍
