Does Vandy call MSTP applicants with admissions decisions as well, or do we receive emails/letters?
 
This may have been said before, but I meant to post it after my interview date cuz I know people have asked before. Average step 1 scores for the most recent class with scores back was 245. From Dean Zic, so it sounds legit. Insanely high. Go Vandy.
 
Hey all! I deferred from Vandy last year, and was just checking in on how this years applicants were doing. I'm happy my future classmates all seem so cool, and congrats to all those who've been accepted! I'm sure I'll see you at second look, good luck!
 
The good news: Got calls from the deans of Baylor and Emory with acceptances today. Now accepted to three med schools. Plus just got interview at Wash U.

The not so good news: Got waitlisted at Vanderbilt today as well. What are the odds of getting in now? Have any current students gotten in off the list? What should I do from this point? Thanks and congrats to the lucky ones🙂
 
Is there a separate hold or continued list from the waitlist? Or is everyone who hasn't been accepted just waitlisted?

1. CONGRATS on Baylor and Emory that is an incredible application season let alone single day!

2. Emory started giving out acceptances? **** haha

3. I'm sorry to hear about Vandy, but I do believe there is some (although not much) movement each year. If I am not mistaken, Vandy likes letters of interest in which you describe why you are a great fit for the school. If you believe you are and have a solid argument, I bet that could be a big help in getting off the waitlist. But, I'm in the same boat as you so I would listen to anyone who has actually gone through this more than me!

Congrats on your acceptances. Do you know of anyone else who was accepted at Emory, as no one else is reporting an acceptance on the Emory site. Did they also notify you by email?

To be honest, I'm slightly doubting the Emory acceptance. At my interview they said they will NOT be calling. They said they will be mailing out acceptances only...(I could have heard incorrectly)

Anyways....does anyone know if there is a separate waitlist and a continued list? I haven't received a waitlist letter yet and I've interviewed early September....

i have the same question. i got a letter today that says they "cannot offer an immediate invitation" and will be "reconsidering my application throughout the season". is this the continued list? waitlist? is there a difference?

pretty sure thats the waitlist... its what I got as well.

Your recollection about the phone call is the same as mine regarding Emory...normally there is at least one person on SDN who acknowledges an acceptance for the school and I am not seeing it.
 
I interviewed on September 27th, and still haven't heard any news. Anyone else still waiting?

same, i interviewed on the same week as you. i called in a couple days ago and apparently a decision hadn't been made on my app. they probably haven't reviewed us, and we should (hopefully) hear back next time they give out phone calls or letters.

hopefully no news=good news
 
Vandy has no "continued list"

thus waitlist = continued list = cannot offer immediate acceptance/will consider you at next meeting again

most other schools have a separate waitlist and continued list....Vandy does not apparently
 
Does anybody know if there is some sort of Vandy accepted thread/facebook group/anything else? Vandy was my top choice and I'm eager to connect with potential classmates! 😀

Haha, I'm not lying. . . I'm URM and we get a call from the dean of diversity before the letters go out. He said he likes to give us a heads up for whatever reason, but I'm grateful.

I'm more concerned about Vanderbilt. I really want to go there!
 
so the waitlist at vandy, they say they will reconsider you at the next meeting, right?

well i interviewed there on like august 25th or something pretty early. i feel like if i was good enough, i would have heard immediately. yet, they still mark my application as under review.

whats the difference between me and the waitlist people, if even on the waitlist they still get reviewed at every meeting lol
 
did it really take you guys 6-8 weeks to hear back after the application received email?

No, i got the invite 3 weeks after the application received email, but that was back in August so it might take longer now.

Thanks Acp. I got the email on 10/5 so I guess I have a few more weeks of waiting left.
 
contacting dean zic asking about my status? bad idea?

i emailed dr. sagen and never got a response. i don't want to bother her lol.

I would chill for awhile (easier said than done, I know...) If they say they are re-reviewing apps at every meeting, then they mean it. They are going to be accepting people throughout the next several months.

I looked and didn't see any consistency. Lots of questions as well. I e-mailed them a couple of hours ago about it; I'll let you know what I hear back.

September 27th? I'm in the same boat... still waiting. Let's hope a round of decisions goes out this week!
 
none here! idk why they are so random about the order in which they get back to people. i also cant go home to check my mail for a week so i hope i get in- a phone call would save me that drive home!! 😀

really though, i wouldve figured monday would be a decision release date, so unless none of the three of us got accepted, we are waiting yet again
 
i actually interviewed at the end of august lol
but i called them last week and they still told me i was under review
and i haven't received a wait list letter..

i am getting worried
 
also, i emailed dr. sagen, no response
called and asked what i should do, she said to email dr. sagen again because normally she is good about responding to emails
i tried again a week later with no response again 🙁

i mean i know someone here emailed her and she sent back a copy of a waitlist letter, so maybe its not all bad news, but still

and then i just called back today and said she cant even tell me my status over the phone and that i should be receiving my decision soon, which doesn't sound good at all, but i dont know how accurate it is
 
thats really strange. oh well, i guess just hope for the best. can't really do anything since they're so unwilling to yield. i wouldve pegged this admissions office to be more helpful...
 
Yeah i called back and talked to the same girl who I am used to calling. I really hope they don't think I am being too annoying lol.

Anyways, still under review..
I interviewed in August the week of the 23rd if anyone cares. That is more than 10 weeks now
 
Any word on scholarship offers or anything of that sort?
 
Hi all! I got waitlisted here a few weeks ago. does that mean that I'm out of the running for scholarship even if I do get in? I mean, if I didn't get in right off the bat, does that mean that I wouldn't be eligible for scholarship money. i love vandy, but cost is something to think about.

I hardly think you would be ineligible, but for purely merit scholarships I think it would be a longshot. Just guessing though.
