Guys, how bad is the weather in late November? Also, does anyone have a better alternative to this plan? I'm coming from Chicago.

Fly CHI-BOS. Then take the Dartmouth coach. The problem is I'm not too sure about the weather and my flight and/or bus might get delayed. Thoughts?

Been a couple of years since I was there but it does get cold at the end of November especially at night. There is a chance you could see some snow.

There are also nonstop flights to Manchester (Southwest, United) which are sometimes reasonably priced - I've seen it $85 each way on Southwest. At that point, depending on the airfare in and out of Boston (which can get a bit nuts around Thanksgiving) it might be cheaper to fly into Manchester and rent a car.

The weather's not likely to be a lot worse than Chicago in November. It was 65 and sunny today (and it'll be in the 40s tonight) but we've already had snow once. By the end of November, it'll probably be in the 30s-low 40s during the day and probably in the 20s overnight.

The Boston flight is fine (although kduck was definitely right about cheap flights from Chicago to MHT). From Boston you can either take the Dartmouth Coach up (what I always do) or flight into the Lebanon airport. This has the added benefit that if it snows you don't have to drive.

complete since early July and no word. is this the time for a letter of interest/update letter?

I would go for it. I was complete early July also and just got the rejection letter a few days ago. The worst thing that can happen is you don't get an interview, so it really can't hurt you. Just make sure they accept them so you are not writing one that will never be read.

They take them.

Anyone else checking out that keynote from the Surgeon General on Wednesday. I happen to be there that night so I will most likely go see it.

has anyone heard of any notifications going out post-interview recently?

i know they said most wouldn't be going out till early next year but this wait is so looonngggg.

What exactly do you write in a interest letter?? 🙄

You write that you are interested in their school.

Just kidding. Anything that you think will interest them- changes to volunteer activities, awards, presentations (RELEVANT presentations), notable updates to your application...

Thanks for the info!

I was planning to submit sometime this week too!
Another last minute Canadian here as well

Out of curiosity, why did you both wait so long?

Here in Canada, the application process works a bit differently. I didn't know I wanted to apply to American schools until after my MCAT score returned in October (test date was Sept 2nd).

Exactly the same for me. I wanted to wait for my MCAT to see if it was competitive enough.

Sorry it took so long to reply to you. I have to go on an SDN cleanse (so to speak) before my UK interview. I received the file complete email on August 18th and the rejection email on October 26th.

Pre-interview? When were you complete

I interviewed a few days back and I was wondering if it was too soon to send a letter of interest/update letter?

Where do we send the thank you notes? Or did they say not to send them?

Wow interview invite for mid January! Very happy to hear back from this school. I was complete on 08/26. Do people who interview this late have a reasonable chance of getting in, knowing that they have already started giving acceptances?

I was complete 10/6 and still no word. How long did it take you to get an II once you were complete?

Interview invite Nov. 20th; complete early August. 37S 3.9 gpa. I will definitely be going as it's within driving distance. Excited and honored.

Interesting. I received my invite last week and it is for January. I suppose they give you extra time based on state of residence? I live in Texas so the two month notice is perfect.

Also, great to hear DMS has small interview groups. Anyone now how many people they interview? I know they accept around ~250 people, but have not been able to find how big the interviewee pool is.

It's about 620-650.

havent heard anything from em since august...

this normal?

Submitted my secondary in August and recently got an invite. Very surprised as my stats suck. Not sure if it's even worth my time considering I still think it's a long shot at this point.

But for what it's worth, I love this school for giving me my first, and possibly only, interview invite. 😍 I am a lucky and humbled.

Congrats! Remember...you only need one. 🙂

Update: According to the MSAR, it's around 650-700.

At the interview they said between 600-650 I believe and accept about 250, but they are very cautious not to have a class bigger than 89
