I took the Dartmouth Coach in from Boston and then out to NYC after the interview. It's the fanciest bus I've ever been on for sure.

my recommendation is fly to boston logan and take round trip darthmouth coach from airport, super convenient and inexpensive

Agreed. This is especially true if you're coming in Jan-mid March. You probably don't want to be stuck at an airport, unable to get to Hanover because you rented a car and there's been a blizzard. It would have to be an unbelievably bad storm for the Coach not to run.

Also check Southwest and Manchester, new Hampshire. There were really good rates (even better than flying into Logan) when I lived out there.

Just called the Office of Admissions. Interviewed on 12.15.11 and was hoping for a status update. Their office will be closed from 12.22.11 to 1.2.12. Just FYI. Happy Holidays all!!

Guys,
I have a question regarding admissions decision. At the interview, they rank applicants after the interview. They accept people at the top and reject people at the bottom.

I hope I will be somewhere in the middle. Did he mentioned when we could expect to hear by?

Does anyone know if Dartmouth is receptive to pre-interview updates/letters? I have been complete since July and I would love the chance to interview here...

Yes, they are! I sent them one last week and they responded within a couple hours with a really nice note.

Tried checking the thread but not sure if this was worked out. I had no way of previewing my secondary and when I look at it now, my pdf shows some odd characters in the place of commas and quotations marks. is this an issue? I called the Wake admissions office for this issue on my application there, and they said it was fine, but not sure about dartmouth.

Furthermore, the odd characters actually pushed some of the words of my essay out of the viewable frame by extending the length of each line, thus making my essay read poorly. Surely this can't be ok, as even if the admissions committee gets past the symbols, they will be confused by the missing words.

I plan on calling admissions tomorrow. Has anyone else contacted them about this or experienced similar problems?

A similar thing happened to my essay, and it ended up being fine (I didn't contact admissions, but got an interview). I don't think it's something you should be worried about.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate the response. It was really troubling me. They didn't answer their phone today on the 3 occasions I tried, but I will try again tomorrow, simply because I had one line in my essay that had 4 or 5 of those odd symbols, so it pushed words from that line off the page resulting in the main idea of the sentence being lost. Congrats on getting an interview btw! 👍

To add some perspective, I had a whole sentence in the secondary that was grammatically incorrect that I didn't catch (the result of editing so many times and not taking out the "leftover" sentence).

I've been complete since early fall, and I have pretty good numbers. Can anybody comment on how "normal" it is for applicants to Dartmouth to go this long without hearing a peep? Thanks!👍

How is this possible? I am 99% sure Dartmouth doesn't send out first round acceptances until January...

Congratulations! Would you mind sharing stats?

We were told that very few decisions are sent at first (to the very top and very bottom interviewed applicants), and that the rest will hear back in 2012.

After looking at last year's thread, it seems that acceptances/post-interview rejections/waitlists start to go out late February and continue more-so through March, as there are people who had interviews early March that were also accepted late March (for those who are in the 2012 wait to hear back)

Re: Metallica1936 wondering about long complete --> invite times, I was complete July 12th, and just got an interview invite this morning. (Possible dates, 2/14, 2/16, 2/23)

Rejected today (pre-interview), was complete in like July or August

mexican american, 10th of 11,1st gen college student, i got a 3.93 my last three years, if that helps, haha. I wrote my undergrad thesis on retinal neuroscience, was president of the premed club and have done volunteer medical work in New Orleans and rural Nicaragua and in rural washington state. Id like to think that i work pretty hard, but everyone makes their own opinions.

wow guitarista, that's great, it honestly makes me happy to see individual's who have worked hard toward their goals, actually get there (regardless of urm status). Life experience counts for a lot, especially in a profession where you connect with so many different personalities. Kudos 🙂.

This is definitely not true, if at the very least for this year.

We were told that very few decisions are sent at first (to the very top and very bottom interviewed applicants), and that the rest will hear back in 2012.

They told my interview group the same thing as well, that they like to hold spots for qualified applicants who applied later in the cycle.

Thank you! I was complete a couple months later than you were, so I'll keep the hope alive! Best of luck my friend! :luck:

Thank you! A HUGE congratulations goes out to you for getting in with your stats. I saw your brief description of experiences, and wow, those are certainly impressive. Good for you! 👍

Congrats! Are these acceptances mailed or emailed?

thanks, its very telling of what type of people that dartmouth is looking for, they like a very diverse crowd, lots of interests, and very self motivated people... good luck to everyone :xf:

acceptances are emailed, but in the mail a few days later I got a the same letter along with a hand written note from the director... pretty cool that they do that, not sure if other programs do that, i know stanford does personal calls, which is also pretty sweet
