I'm interviewing this week. So nervous, but I hear the interviews are pretty laid back. Hoping to make a good impression :luck::xf:🙂

Yup they're definitely laid back 🙂 Fairly standard questions as well, so just be confident in yourself.

Hoping to hear back within 1-2 weeks now! 😱
 
How far in advance of your interviews were you invited?

Anyone receive interviews yet for January, February, or March?

I received an invitation for a mid-January interview in early December.

I've sent in like two updates and two letters of intent over the last five months and I'm still waiting for an interview.....is there any hope? GW is my #1 choice !

hi does anyone know the name of the dean of admissions here? the emails that have been sent to us in the past are from the assistant dean of admissions. thanks
 
Just got word that I'm on the alternate list. Someone asked a question along these lines earlier...but to be clear...is everyone who isn't accepted post-interview placed in the alternate pool?

Yup that is the case. It's either accept or alternate pool, there is no outright rejections (though the dream I had last night says otherwise!)

Mind sharing when you were interviewed?

Hey- they do reject- <10% of interviewees get rejected though. But GW does interview a lot so there is a very large alternate list it seems. I'm waiting with you on the AL.
 
Dang, alternate-listed today. I also felt that I nailed my interviews. So what gives? I guess it just comes down to a numbers game. Wait-listed as well at the other school I've had an interview at. Grrrr...not making this process any easier to handle. At least I have a well-paying research job. Hopefully they'll keep me if I don't get off any wait lists. UGH. I was looking forward to getting in SOMEWHERE just so I can relax a bit.

How do you all feel about sending in LOI to schools you haven't even been scheduled an interview at? I remember hearing that was a big no-no if they haven't contacted you for an interview...thoughts?

My hold status says 'During this time, the Committee encourages you to update your file with new activities, experiences or with your specific interest in our program."

i did the LOI for another school about 2 weeks ago and just got an interview invite...i'd do it, especially if you only have waitlists at this point ...can't do any harm

CMoney, when did you interview? I interview 12/2/11 and I haven't heard anything yet.
 
Also interviewed in the last week of November...called today to see if there was a decision made but they said no decision yet. The person also said it could take as long as the end of February to make a decision 😕

I sent an update letter + in the area notification. Should I expect a confirmation or will they just contact me if they make a decision/grant me invite?
 
I'm in the same boat! I just sent in an update letter yesterday too - been on hold for a while. I live in the area though - GW is literally a metro stop away. Any hope?
 
I interviewed the last week of November. Blegh. Thanks for the thoughts, guys! Here's to fingers crossed.
 
every time i've sent in an update/in the area (sent two updates + 1 in the area), i only got the automated response "thanks, we've added your update" and then that was it. still no II so either they just don't care about me, or they don't really care about our updates lol

More updates does not equal more helpful. Need to cut it off at one in my opinion. Especially pre interview.

Yeah, I just got the same kind of reply: "Thank you for your message. We'll update your application with this information. We appreciate your continued interest in GW."

No acknowledgement of my in the area request, so I'm not expecting much as far as that goes.

So back in November when they started rejecting and I made the cut I thought that meant I might get a late II. I wrote an update to them and still nothing, starting to question my previous theory. Is anyone willing to share the earliest available interview dates that they are currently offering? Thanks

Going strictly by last year, I received an interview invite around this time and was offered a date in about the 2nd week of February.

Anyone have an idea of the next committee meeting GWU will be having? Still waiting to hear back from my interview in the last week of November
 
Guess I got my own answer.. Was placed in alternate pool today after interviewing on November 29, 2011

Applied last year and was placed in the alternate pool as well

Kinda sucks.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you eventually get in...it seems like you really want to go here.
 
Just Interviewed last week, now the 8-10 week waiting game begins.

I did like everything about the school. Wonderful facilities, great location, friendly staff. The Students seem to indicate it is a cooperative environment. I definitely hope I'm accepted.
 
also waitlisted today...real disappointing but still holding out some hope! i really love GW

Not surprised, though-- my interview went pretty badly. Interviewer did not seem psyched to be there-- at GW or at the interview. That was the only bad impression I got of the school, though. Everything else was great.
 
So I've been on re-review since August...no rejection or change. Any chance of an interview this late in the season?

I know a current student who was on re-review the last cycle from August and got an interview for March (and is obviously now a student there). Anyways, I'm a long time lurker and this is my first post, but I just had to allay your worry. Don't give up hope! 🙂

I interviewed on Dec9 and I just received an email saying that I am being considered for the decelerated 5 year MD program. Has anybody received a similar email?

It doesnt want to paste correctly... I just went into the George Washington Application 2010-2011 Forum and used their "search this thread" option, looking for "decelerated". From there you can find the conversations that mentioned it.
