This seems pretty stupid to me. Hopkins is in a terrible neighborhood of an actively dangerous city (I live about an hour south of Baltimore, so I'm familiar with the area). Where are students going to live? Who will ensure their safety?

I have to admit I'm not feeling overwhelmingly impressed by Hopkins right now. Some group of people had to sit down and decide that closing on campus housing was a good idea; if that's indicative of how intelligently Hopkins is run, or how much they care about their students, then it may not be all it's cracked up to be.

Any thoughts?

I can't figure out if this is a serious post, or if its a forum troll attemtping to deter other applicants from Hopkins. Please, oh wise one, show us how it should be done... lol
 
accepted this morning by phone call, interviewed dec 8
 
Thank you very much omelas and Nakita! And Nakita, I probably met you if you interviewed on the 8th. It was such a friendly group! Hang in there, phone calls might be spread out 🙂

It was a very friendly group! It was one of my best interview experiences. I hope you are right, but given the trends in the past, phone calls seem to go out all at once on one particular day. I'll keep my fingers crossed until I know for sure, though :xf: I know it was a long shot even getting an interview at JH, so for that I'm really, really grateful. I could not help falling in love with the school, though.

Called today and found out that my application hasn't been reviewed at all yet. I was complete (via email) on 11/15/11. Hope this gives us all (interview hopefuls) some hope!

Are they fine with people calling about their status?

It seems to be that way, although I was initially calling to confirm the receipt of a recent LOR. I just asked if my file had already been reviewed, as to infer if the new LOR would even be seen. Very friendly woman on the phone!

do you think we can call the admissions office to ask them if we got accepted or not or should we wait? I interviewed in early december.

I planned on waiting at least until Monday. I am just hoping they have multiple acceptance call days for those of us who interviewed before the holidays...
 
Accepted by phone call! Apparently I missed the phone call yesterday (but my phone didn't show anything) so I was expecting the worst, since acceptances seemed to go out yesterday. Got an email from Valerie Mazza this afternoon saying to call her back, so I just found out! I interviewed December 1st. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back!

Does Hopkins email rejection/waitlist decisions or mail them?
 
Has anyone who interviewed on Dec 9th heard back yet? I interviewed then and was wondering if the 9th was included in the recent batch of acceptances that went out (it seems Dec 1st and 8th were included), or if we should wait another week to hear back.

I interviewed on the 9th and am also wondering if anyone heard back yet . I am anxiously waiting ....

I tried calling yesterday but had no luck reaching anyone. Do you know though if Hopkins accepts letters of interest/intent pre-interview? From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like they would (accept anything pre-interview) but I was curious as to whether anyone knows for sure. Thanks!

I had called and asked earlier...they said they do not.
 
i interviewed on the 9th, haven't heard back. looking grim at this point... also, I didn't think that they said that every interview day would have a certain amount of acceptance spots, rather there was a set amount of spots for the month. so perhaps only 1 or 2 got accepted from the 9th, and they just dont frequent this forum. perhaps i am stating the obvious. sorry!
 
Just called the admissions office for those who interviewed on dec 16, the committee hasn't met yet. It will be another week or so.

what number did you call? How did you ask them? I am considering calling them to ask if they have met to make the decisions for those interviewing on dec 9th. thanks!

I called the admissions office to ask if the decisions have been made for those who interviewed on dec 9th. She said that the decisions haven't been made yet.

I interviewed on 12/15/11 and received my rejection letter by mail today...just fyi

I didn't get anything in the mail yet, and since others who interviewed on the 8th already heard back I am assuming the worst. I want to call... but I am too afraid. This is too much, I never expected to receive an invite, and now getting in is all I can think about. Why is this driving me crazy? Ahhhh... I just need to know one way or the other so I can stop this whining on SDN 😳

edit: received rejection today in the mail. And now I can move forward. Good luck everyone still waiting!

Hang in there, Nakita! The mail was postmarked Jan 17 so it could take a few days to get to you. If you don't hear or receive anything by Monday you could try calling.
 
Not yet man.... I was complete on December 6th and still nothing (secondary submitted mid September). Anyone? and when does interview invites come out usually (what day?)

Hey, no worries at all. From your Mdapps you will be attending a well established medical school next year, and will make a terrific physician. If I may ask though, I see that UM has not invited you for an interview? That is beyond disbelief, do you know why? I wouldn't worry about it at all, but that is incredibly strange. This cycle is making no sense to me at all thus far.

I'm sorry to hear that, but at least you can finally move on, no more anxiety over this.

Congratsss!!! but when were you completed?? I received my completed file Dec 6th and I am still waiting for an interview invite (secondary submitted mid of September).
