Interview invite this morning as well!

Interviews start Oct. 10th- at least that's the first day I see available.

Question- for those of you that interviewed for EDP, how late in the day were you there? Like what's the schedule for the day?

We got out around 2:30.

There was an interview day schedule in my online MCG application, under the Interview tab ("Interview Agenda")

I was wondering when you get notified about the EDP admissions decisions, do they also have your campus assignment(uga or Augusta) at that point or do they made those decisions after they accept reg. dec. students. I havn't made a preference yet, and they didn't really have a deadline when I asked, just "as soon as possible." Does it really matter if a wait a few days, or should I get that in now?

Last year we didn't find out until after the new year sometime, so I doubt they make those decisions this early. They want the Athens campus to be "diverse," so not everyone from EDP can go to Athens. I'd be seriously considering making a decision sooner rather than later, but I'm not sure it's necessary to pick right this second.

How long after your AMCAS was verified and Secondaries complete did y'all receive an interview invite for Regular Decision?

Also, what is the etiquette for asking the status of your application...is it bad to call and ask if it's been reviewed? Or is it better to just ask to make sure all the paperwork is received and acceptable?

It's september 1st. I would chill out and be patient.

Just got an interview invite (regular admissions).

I'm interviewing on 10/31!!

I'm kind of in the same boat here. I completed my secondary on 8/18, which I know is a bit late. My AMCAS is still not verified though. It's been just over 4 weeks, so I'm desperately waiting.

The interview invite will come AFTER you AMCAS is verified. From there it depends on how long it takes them to get to your file. Last year it took about 6 weeks from verification to invite and this year closer to 3 so it just depends.

Hope this helps!

Dint know about you guys but getting ansy over here for early decision acceptances to go out. Told us at orientation they wanted to let us know by this Saturday. Was about sick from nerves waiting to find out about interviews, probably going to be bad by Friday.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the ad-com will make the final decision tomorrow night and the emails will go out on Friday. Pretty nerve wrecking!

Yep, the waiting is getting hard. Looking at last year's thread, ED acceptances were sent out the Friday after the second Thursday in September...so hopefully two more days. The stress/suspense from MCAT day through the end of the app process is pretty ridiculous.

Just got my acceptance email. Hope others waiting get the same good news.

My AMCAS finally got verified on 9/12!! I'm just worried that it's a bit late. Hopefully it won't have a major impact on my application.

Does MCG send out an "Application Complete" email? I checked the webpage and they have received my committee letter but that's all it says.

Thank you!

No, when they have received all of your letters then your file is complete

question, does MCG require a pre-health advisor letter?
I just started my secondary today. Is it possible to
just use 3 personal letter from professors?.

Congrats to all the ED's. WOW you guys were on a roll.🤣 Hope that "favor" extends to us RD's. Still waiting for verification from AMCAS, however I've completed my secondary about a week ago.

Straight from their website:

"The Admissions Committee will not review an applicant’s file without having received all three letters of recommendation. The three letters of recommendation include one from the Pre-Health Advisory committee from the undergraduate institution and two personal references. It is strongly recommended that one of the personal recommendations come from a physician."

Unless your school doesn't have some sort of Pre-Health committee, you're shooting yourself in the foot by not using them.

After completing secondary, does mcg send you a notification that your file is complete?

I submitted my secondary 9/11; amcas verified 9/26
my application status for mcg still says application submitted. Should I call them and check if something is missing?

They will notify you if you are missing something. I was missing a Tax Return form, and they notified me via email. 🙂

This thread is kinda quiet this time around...I'm still hoping for an II (fingers crossed) 🙂

I was accepted without a committee letter. Through personal conversations with committee members I can tell you that most of the committee letters mean absolutely nothing. Most don't even read the letters from these groups anymore, as they all say the exact same thing. A personalized letter from a faculty member that actually knows you, can comment on your professionalism, maturity, knowledge base, motivation, etc is 100x more powerful than a generic letter from some committee that met you for 10 minutes. This is especially true for UGA, where the letters all say the same thing "blah blah blah... good applicant... would be in practice with them if I still practiced medicine.. blah blah blah...good grades.. blah blah blah... took my class.. blah blah blah".

Yeah, that makes sense.

In my case though, the head of the committee was my Biochem professor, and I was allowed to choose 1-2 more to be on it. I chose my Ochem and Cell Bio profs. All three people knew me well, both my personal story and how I did in their classes. My interviewer commented on being very impressed with the strength of the recommendation coming from my committee letter. Guess it depends who your "committee" actually is made up of.

Just got an interview invite!! I'd been worried about not hearing from these guys!

Here's my stats:
In State, 3.3 GPA, 38Q MCAT

Interviewing on 12/2, super excited!

The Admissions Committee regards the diversity of an entering class as an important factor in serving the educational mission of the school. The Committee strongly encourages you to share unique, personally important, and/or challenging factors in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, region of residence with respect to its health professional needs, ties to MCG School of Medicine, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or life and/or work experiences. Please discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine.

Please describe the geographical setting in which you think you would most like to practice following medical training. Include the following information if known: The region of the country, the name of the state, the region of the state and the name of the town and county.

If applicable, indicate any special experiences, unusual factors or other information not previously included in your AMCAS application or this supplement that you feel the admission committee should consider when evaluating your application.

Best of luck with your application :luck::luck::luck:!

Man, I'm only a undergrad freshman, but this makes me really nervous about getting into MCG. This is my #1 choice of school, and I was born and raised by a 130K+ salary family, in a nice neighborhood, in a nice town. I'm also white, straight, and may have some Nazi in me.

Man, not only do I not qualify for any scholarships because of my background, it sounds like I have no chance at my medical school of choice because of it too. 🙁

What a stupid post.

Are the invites by phone call or email?

Still waiting, hoping for an interview.

No chance only because you are a rich white guy??? NO CHANCE AT ALL?

Does anyone remember/know when they said we would be notified of our campus assignment. Would really like to start working on scouting out the area to figure out housing, work opportunities (for the wife), and daycare.

Then again really hope I go to Augusta, wife can work with research as a copy editor and I know MCG as child care 😛

Because MCG wanted to see my covered grades from my first semester freshman year, and that process of uncovering took some time, I was only complete mid-September (don't have an exact date) and got my II Oct 7th
