I think I figured it out. If your interview date is for march 2nd, I think you still have a shot at an outright acceptance, (the "few reaming seats" email a few of us including me got). If your interview date is for march 23rd, you're interviewing for a wait list spot. Is that consistent? Can anyone back me up...

This sounds right. I interviewed March 25 for a spot on the waitlist only. I was allowed to choose between March 25 and April 8, so I assume these 2 dates were the designated "waitlist only" days, they might have corresponding days for this year.

Congrats to the newly accepted group. U guys should join the fb page. And hope I see u all in aug. :)

Is there anyone else who has been pooled since early September with no interview invite?

For those of you who have had interviews, does the tour take place mostly inside, or will there be some walking outside as well? I'm trying to decide how warm I need to be.

The tour is entirely inside, at least it was the day I interviewed. (And it was around 2 degrees and snowing, so that was a good thing.)

I've been swimming in the pool since late august (OOS) and nada. I asked about my status recently and they said they send invites into the month of march, but im not sure how late they go. Hang in there bro.

Just withdrew my application and interview invite from MCW (got into my top choice). My interview was scheduled for March 2nd (for the few remaining seats and waitlist). Note that it's NOT for March 23rd which is waitlist only. Hope it goes to one of you who really needs it! ...and you own that interview, for me

does this school take letters of interest/ update letters before interview? i have been small pooled since jan and would love the opportunity to atleast interview here

Wasn't sure if I was just dreaming it, but did they say we could send in thank you notes through email to the office? And updates as well?

Did anyone who sent in their credit report get any type of confirmation email? I sent mine in a month ago and I tried calling/emailing the financial aide office and no one has gotten back to me yet.

I didn't get any confirmation.

I remember this was the case when I interviewed in November. You could also call and ask them. In my experience, they're really friendly & helpful. Hope that helps!

I remember sending the financial aid office an email when I applied. I don't think they send out confirmation emails so you're probably fine.

I faxed all of my info in and then called to confirm they received everything.

waitlisted. interviewed 3/2. this is my third waitlist position. so so so disappointing. anyone who could provide a little encouragement, i would really appreciate it.

- applicant losing all self esteem

Definitely keep your chin up. Waitlisted doesn't mean no. People are going to start making decisions soon, and as such, seats will open up everywhere. May is when a lot of things happen so keep it up! All there is to do is wait now, which is hard, but just keep positive! Maybe consider sending an LOI if one school really stuck out to you. Send thank you notes (if you already haven't) and try to be noticeable.

Thanks I appreciate it! in the meantime, if anyone wants to give up a spot to go elsewhere at UW Madison, MCW, or George Wash, I would be ETERNALLY grateful! :)

I'm giving up my spot at MCW so I hope it goes to you. I feel your pain but don't give up. Last year I had three waitlists out of four interviews and didn't get in. This year I have 4 acceptances and 3 waitlists. It's a little bit of a game but it really does work out for the best. I know how frustrating the wait can be but it happens for a reason. Good luck!

Just received an interview invitation for the wait list. I was complete in July and received the small pool email in September, I think?

Has anyone in the small pool received a rejection lately?

II for waitlist only. Small pooled in Aug. Debating going as I have acceptances already, and this is only for waitlist.

+1 - I have decided to forego this interview in hopes that someone else picks it up that could use it. Good luck, all!

How much does the waitlist move?

It will vary by year. I was in the 2nd quartile of last year's waitlist, and I was offered a deferred acceptance for this year. If you are interested in attending MCW, be sure to let them know. I gave Jennifer a call every 2 to 3 weeks and sent the office 2 letters from people I started shadowing after my application was submitted. I'm not sure if the letters did anything, but it felt like the phone calls might have. Don't be afraid to ask how waitlist movement is either, Jennifer and the staff are all super nice about it. Good luck!

Sorry I didn't clarify... each quartile will probably have about 40-50 people.

How do you find out which quartile you belong to? call Jennifer?

If you are put on the waitlist, they will tell you what quartile you're in, in the letter you receive by mail.

Interview invite, but I don't think I'll be attending since it's only for the waitlist and I've already been accepted elsewhere. How do I withdraw my app?

ii for wiatlist. Gonna took one of the dates but will wait to see what happens with decisions i receive in the next couple days

I can't find it anywhere on the letter. Where?
Looking at last year's thread, people started saying their quartiles near the end of April. My guess is that they haven't gotten that far yet this year... And I'd hazard to guess that they won't "rank" people on the waitlist until the last of the interviews have been completed.

Anyone notice the new 2013 rankings for medical schools yet?

Anyone have any thoughts on the chances if one does go to the waitlist-only interview at this point? I received an interview invite (for the waitlist), but I have multiple acceptances. MCW looks amazing, but I am not really sure if it's worth the $300 or so it would cost to go as I'd be interviewing for the waitlist.

Anyone know whether or not MCW initially accepts more than their class size?

Last year, of the 674 who applied, 458 were accepted to fill 204 seats in the class. Since this is over twice the class size, I am wondering whether all 254 of the extra acceptances were from the waitlist last year or if MCW accepts, say, 306 (1.5x the class size) initially and then accepts as needed off the waitlist. Anyone know? Thanks!

MCW does initially accept more than their class size. It seems that there is good movement on the waitlist for the first quartile individuals (based on past years threads). In the end it all comes down to if you were eventually accepted, would you choose this school over the others. If the answer is yes, you should consider going to the interview. If the answer is no, then save your money.
