I just remembered. On my interview day, they said that the adcom is taking a two week hiatus from reviewing applicants/interviewees. Looks like the wait continues ha. I really like Iowa a lot. The only bummer was that my tour guide wasn't very enthusiastic or informative on the school. He didn't give us an exciting feeling, and I had to keep asking question upon question just to get anything out of him. Oh well, Iowa is still amazing. Best of luck all! :luck::xf:👍

oh no! if you don't mind me asking, when was your interview? i'm curious as to when the hiatus ends...

I just wanna say that no matter how applications are reviewed post-interview, OOS students have a 40% chance of being accepted which is great! So lets take comfort in that 🙂

Hmm.

I don't really recall hearing that it was a totally random pull of 25.

In fact, I recall them mentioning that there is a chronological aspect. But, I could be completely and absolutely wrong...

Oh well. Fingers crossed!

I contacted CCOM via telephone to ask about this a few weeks ago. I was told that there is absolutely nothing random about the review process.. as soon as one's file is complete it is reviewed by the ADCOM.

Hmm, sounds like we are being told two separate things then. I'm 100% sure they said the sub-com pulls 25 random files at a time to be reviewed and sent to the final committee. Guess we may never know how it works!

Is this pre or post interview?

What I mean by this is that you seem to have gotten an "initial decision", having interviewed a month later than I, while I haven't heard anything at all...

...can anybody offer input into this? Anybody interview before/after 11/15 and also get a thumbsup/thumbssideways (as I'm calling these sort of things)?

I interviewed the last week in September and haven't heard either way. When I called the office, I was told that my file had been reviewed but that I was still in the running to be accepted before January and final pool of the rest comes around. So I am now really confused as to how it works...does anyone know what this means??

did you just call the normal admissions office or anybody in particular? I interviewed early October and i emailed one of the admissions coordinators last week to see if the sub-committee had even reviewed my file yet and she said they weren't privy to that information. 😕

another tuesday today...another day of constantly checking email.

But they said we would be hearing today?? (sorry if this has been answered already!)

The week after this coming week will be when the hiatus ends, i.e. two weeks from next week (I'm nearly positive this is when they're having it).

JUST GOT MY ACCEPTANCE EMAIL!!!! yeeeeeehawww! OOS, interviewed 11/14.

Congrats to those above that were accepted. Seeing as they are different dates, I have some hope that things are a bit random.

So if you go into the secondary, and you check "contact info" there is a little box that says "Last Update: [Date] [Time]" Does anyone know if this has anything to do with being reviewed etc? My last update was December 14, and I haven't logged into the secondary since probably November so I was just curious.

Also, if you're final pooled, do you know on the tuesday that they review your file that you've been final pooled?
Did you call on that day for a status check? I noticed my last update changed after speaking with them. I think that might be were its from.

Does anyone know if we need to send them the list of classes we are signed up for next semester as an update? or do we just update them with the grades of this semester only?
BTW congrats for the people who got in today! well I can take 2 weeks off from checking my email now!

I had to push back my interview from early january to January 18th due to personal reasons...does that mean that I am automatically final pooled??

My understanding during interview day as explained was that everyone will have a chance to be reviewed before the final stage. The "Rolling" Phase of admission ends Jan 31, leaving you about 2 weeks to be reviewed

+1

Good to hear, Thanks!

Just got the email notifying me that my application is being sent to the final pool...:boom:

Does anybody know the relative acceptance rates once placed in this pool? How about the average size of the pool each year? Thanks. I'm OOS btw.

What day did you interview again? Hang in there!

Thanks. I interviewed on 12/6. I didn't know how the interview went because of its very odd structure, but I know it didn't go amazing I guess because of this 🙁.

Hopefully the final pool will treat me nicely. :xf:

So strange...lots of OOS people interviewing up to TWO MONTHS after me, and getting the initial thumbs-up/thumbs-sideways (re-review).

I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing.

I called and received similar information - that there wasn't much they could tell me.

Unfortunate - I really liked Iowa's campus, and want to communicate my interest in their school, but don't want to pester them.

Does anyone know if the committee will be meeting this coming tuesday?

Got a final pool e-mail Wednesday (12/28). I've got pretty good numbers (35Q, >3.9), so I guess my sub-par ECs finally caught up with me. Being OOS probably didn't help either. Oh well, fingers crossed! :xf:

Could you guys getting post-interview decisions please post your interview date? Or an approximation thereof, if you're worried about privacy?

It'd be great to get some idea of "where" chronologically they are, in terms of applications.

Whoops, sorry. I interviewed 12/5.

Very early December I interviewed. I was put into the final pool last week. :boom:

I am an OOS applicant.

Does anyone know how generous Iowa is to OOS students with respect to Merit based financial aid??

I'm still really perplexed at all of these people getting decisions, while I interviewed ~10 weeks ago and haven't heard anything at all...

Hate to be neurotic, but it's difficult not to be. :scared:

I'm in the same boat. Interviewed 10/28 and haven't heard anything. 😕

I interviewed a month before you did and haven't heard. OOS. Maybe tomorrow?

I'm also OOS. I don't know if the committee is meeting tomorrow. Kind of doubt it since it's so close to the New Year's holiday. Alas, the waiting game continues...

Well, the easiest identifier is that I was one of two girls (I think) not wearing a suit jacket with a blue shirt. From in state, and I'll graduate this spring.

Lol! I'm the other one. I had a pink sweater under the same suit everyone has. Congrats again, & hope to see you out there next fall!

Just got the accepted email, Interviewed Oct 5. So theres still hope if you haven't heard. Good luck to everyone still waiting, its a long process hang in there.

PS. OOS

CONGRATS!! Stats please if you dont mind

I hope they stick with a chronological order next year. I interviewed on the 9th of Nov. and have not heard, yet. I am glad that someone from the 5th of Oct was accepted today - congrats - all us oldies are still in the game. My bad luck is probably going to make me the last one to be reviewed. Anyways, if you look at last year's thread, a few final pool e-mails should be out later in the evening.
