I know I read some earlier posts about letters being marked as not received... anyone have any luck with calling the admission office? I submitted my secondary 9/16 and letters are still marked with a red X. Time to call?

Hey I called yesterday because schools are marking my letters as received but not md. The lady said they're "playing catch up" and are behind...like every school.

Thanks for the info! Guess I'll just hold off on calling then.

Last year the first acceptances were 10/18 even for people who interviewed the last week in Sept. Hopefully this year it's Monday the 17th 🙂 9 more days!

Good to know!

Does anyone know how you send in the in-state tuition form in? is it by mail, fax, or email? and to which address?
I can't find it on the secondary app...
thanks!

on this note..do you need that in to be considered for an interview?

To your first questions, I am not sure. However, I am claiming Maryland residence and have not turned in the form yet but received an interview invite sometime last week.

Nope, I called and they told me you do not. They forward it to another department so they don't even look at it. You will need to have it in to claim in state tuition if you do get accepted though!

Also, does anyone know what Maryland interviews are like? I have one soon and its my first interview ever so I'm a little nervous. Do they ask you a lot of questions about health care and health care policy or are they the kind of school that just wants to know more about you as an individual? Thanks for the help!

Check out the Interview Feedback link at the top of the page.

First of all, I had the second day of interviews so there were two faculty interviews and no student! That may be different now, but at the time the students were preparing for tests so they didn't let them interview us.
They definitely want to get to know you, but I did have two harder questions on this interview. One interviewer asked for THREE weaknesses and the other asked about healthcare. One specific question was whether or not people who don't pay for health insurance should have access to all the same benefits as people who do. He didn't grill me or anything and when I said it was a hard question he admitted they've been trying to find an answer for years.

Overall though, it was still a good experience. The one interviewer said "I can see from your grades/MCAT that you're capable of going through medical school, so I just want to get to know you".

Don't stress too much, good luck!!

Go to this link, there is a "click here" that pulls up the form. And it explains that you mail to the Committee on Admissions address at the bottom of the link I posted.

Those of you who have interviewed - what time were you done? I'm hoping I will be able to make my 5:30 flight..

If you have a morning interview you will have more than enough time to catch your flight...I was done at 1:30 or 2. But if you have an afternoon interview you might be cutting it too close

Secondary Submitted: 9/25
Interview Invite: 9/29
Email Confirmation of Secondary Completion: 9/30

Haha, so yeah, for those of you waiting for the "Complete" email, it may be after your interview invite. =)

FYI, I'm in-state. 3.8/31Q

My very first interview!!! Ahhh, I'm so excited and nervous.

I was crossing my fingers that I may get a response today. This thread is much quitter this year. Anyone hear anything?

I already got my mail today and nothing from UMD in it 🙁 My ringer is on loud though just in case :xf:
I live close so I think I would have received something today if they had sent anything out Fri/Sat.

Yeah same here I only live about 15 min away. I'm hoping that it will at least come this week and not next; I remember Dr. Foxwell saying they may not send anything out till the 22

Best phone call ever 😀

Just got a call from Dr. Foxwell that I was accepted and a letter is on the way!

Hi

I am a Massachusetts resident and wanted to apply to the University of Maryland. I was wondering if out of state appliers have to have better stats to get accepted to such schools as the university of Maryland, University of Virginia, and so on. Or are applicants from out of state less likely to apply and attend because of the great difference in price. THanks for any info concerning this sort of issue.

Do they inform students based on when they interviewed (i.e. 9/21 students get informed before 9/26?) or is it more random

Looks like the people who got the call last night interviewed during the 2nd week of interviews so they were just now reviewed by the committee. I interviewed during the first week of interviews so I'm guessing/hoping they reviewed us last week and our stuff is in the mail. They couldn't call if it was before the 15th...positive thinking haha.

Congrats to everyone who got the call last night!🙂

I was interviewed on 9/19 the second day of interviews. I got another call today from a student so they might be making more calls today. Good luck to tilton!

So it sounds like not everyone will get a call then? Since the very first interviewees are not yet called, I guess we are getting mailed?? Or at least that's the case for most of us? Any one else interview 9/21 or earlier get a call?

Hope the mailman comes quick!!! :xf:

Waitlist for me by mail today. 9/21 interview. 30/3.92/3.86 IS

Totally shocked and confused. My interviews felt good. I don't know what else to say. Letter says no re-review until April (confirmed on the phone).

I interviewed the 21st but nothing for me yet...so nervous...maybe something is in the mail. Sorry about the waitlist Tilton...I have similar stats...so I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed

i also have not heard back...someone i know who interviewed around my time already heard back ...guess that's not good news for me...haha...was so excited when a random number called me yesterday...only to be a miscall lol funny thing was i thought the interview went well too like tilton lol

YAY!!! Just came in the mail today! A large package 🙂 I didn't get a call though. Also, they think I am out of state, which I am not. I sent in the paperwork a little late, so I guess they are just swamped with more important things. I'll have to call them to sort things out...

So just because you don't get a call, doesn't mean you're not accepted! Good luck everyone!

Accepted!!🙂...got the letter in the mail yesterday night!...also did not get a call. Good luck to everyone waiting

Has anybody gotten a REJECTION letter in the mail yet? I haven't gotten a phone call or letter yet so I'm wondering what's going on... =(

yea...im really anxious/worried too.

i thought both my interviews went really well, but the lack of response might indicate otherwise..=/

i was interviewed on the 26th

Wait list. Thought I had a great interview. Good stats and experience. In state... Will need a few days to regain my confidence... 😕

Sorry to hear that, CovertName... At least you're way up there on the wait list. When did you interview and when did you get your letter?

Damn I'm surprised at how quickly they're giving out the wait lists! Looking at last years thread there didn't seem to be many this early. Maybe this means the wait list will move more/more quickly😕

is no news good news? did the waitlist notifications come by email or mail?

Waitlisted also....very dissapointing. I guess I have to stay positive and keep up the hard work for the year.
