I was complete on 11/03. I was really surprised with the turnaround. That being said, like others, I have been on both sides of this thing. I have received rapid responses from schools and I've also been waiting for more than two months with no response from others.

Wooo!!! I got accepted!!!!!:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:

Interviewed on October 17th! My acceptance letter came in the mail, and my mom opened it and texted me. Oh asian mothers

Congratulations!! That is very exciting 🙂

It came in the mail today? and are you IS?

Just checking in.

I received the "received your second stage application" email 8/11 and haven't heard anything since. 😴 I'm IS BTW

received 2ndary Oct 13
completed and returned Oct 13
received e-mail invite for interview on Nov 10
IS with terrible mcat, 3.8 gpa, and copious extracurricular activities

Congrats on the invite! Would you mind saying what your MCAT score was. I recently applied, and I'm trying to figure out my chances.

for those who got accepted, do we just have to send 2 forms back to them to reserve a seat in the class? (the accommodations page and the "reserve a seat" page) Just wanted to double check and make sure I'm not forgetting anything! Thanks!

Is anyone else still waiting for a yes/no for an interview?

Yeah, that's what I did.

Did you send an update letter after being placed on hold?

Anyone know what the cost of books and supplies is here for the 1st year? super pumped to attend

Has anyone heard from UMD post-interview this week? When I was there a few weeks ago they said that we might get our decisions the week before Thanksgiving and now I'm dyyying with anticipation waiting to hear from them!

hey guys,
for those of you that have sent in update letters since being placed on hold (getting II or not) what exactly are you saying? I can easily talk about my interest in the school but am worried that I dont have anything significant enough (like clinical experience) to update them on. my advisor suggested waiting for my grades to come out, but i personally think she is wrong. i think the hold status was basically begging for an update.
thanks!

all my letters were received around mid-October, but I didn't receive any complete email.
Do they send a complete email? I am IS. Has anyone who completed around that time heard back from school?

I was worried about this too so I called admissions on monday. She said that if your app has been submitted/certified correctly and your letters have been received, you are considered complete. I asked if I should have received an email saying that I was complete and she said no. My stuff was received Nov 1 and I have not heard anything at all.

Does anyone know if Maryland is usually slow getting back to out of state students? I have been complete since September 8 and have not heard anything yet. I'm not sure how to feel about this, but it seems like it can't be good.

Can those who have interviewed already give some details about the interviews?

I would appreciate it : )

there are two interviews: generally a faculty member and a student. my faculty interview was pretty standard. my student interview was very casual/conversational, but i've been told some students are very tough so don't let you're guard down.

ACCEPTED!! MD/MS in BioE. interviewed 11/2, heard back on 11/30. good luck everybody!

for people that got IIs after being placed on hold...would u mind sharing how long it was before the II came?

I got my interview invite on 11/21 and was placed on hold on 10/27, so it was almost a full month. I did, however, send a letter of interest a day or two before I got the "on hold" email... dunno if that had any impact, though.

accepted! MD/MPH...interviewed on 10/10. Mail sent 11/30 OOS...good luck everyone and don't lose hope if you haven't heard back from them for awhile

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting in after being waitlisted at Maryland as an OOS applicant? I loved this school so much - trying to keep hope alive! 🙂

I wish I knew, too! When did you hear that were waitlisted?

Does anyone know if Maryland does silent rejections? I'm OOS and have been complete since August. I have not heard anything yet...not even a pre-interview hold. I wonder if I should call them...

Don't lose hope. I just received an II and I was complete the first week of August, and I had not head anything from them since their "complete" email. Best of luck.

in state btw

Rejected yesterday. OOS, complete since July. I was never placed on pre-interview hold. I was literally crafting an update letter/LOI when I got the email

anyone hear back post-interview lately?

Hi guys, besides turning in the two papers, do we need to complete all the medical stuff (shots) before hand also? anyone checked up on this? It's the report of medical history form

I know that you need to submit that form within 8 weeks of receiving the entire packet. They said that if you don't have specific shots, it's their responsibility that you get them. The offer the shots you need on campus before classes start I think. But it probably wouldn't hurt to submit your immunizations as they are now, or even get up to date with them when you go to your doctor to fill the form.

They also said that if you don't have TB testing done yet, that its best to wait until a month or two before classes start to get a more up to date one. I just had my doctor fill the form out, sign it, attach a copy of my immunization records and sent it in. The person I talked to on the phone in the health center said to send the copies and keep the originals.

did they send you the complete email?

I submitted my secondary in September, and I haven't heard anything from them.

I don't know what happened to my application.

Same. I was complete in August and have heard nothing.

Hey guys,
I wanted current medical students to chime in these questions (taken from MikeS 78th thread of what's important in medical school)

1)What is the 3rd year like and how is it structured?

2) Where do 3rd year evaluations come from?

3) How are medical students protected from scut?

4) How receptive is the administation to fixing problems and/or disciplining out of line behavior, espcially from residents?

5) how good is this school at focusing on the bread and butter?

Thanks in advance

Where do you send an update letter/ letter of interest. Thanks for the help.

I interviewed the Monday after Thanksgiving and was accepted Dec 20.

Hiya! I was accepted about a month ago.
It seems to me like my options are Jefferson and Maryland at the time being -- was wondering what people thought about the two schools?

If there are any current students out there, I'm also very interested in:
1) How well does UMD prepare you for the USMLE?
2) At UMD, is there generally time for students to do research outside of class? Or is most of it spent studying?

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone who interviewed before Thanksgiving not heard back at all? Thanks!
