Does anybody know someone who had been re-interviewed because there was a divergence of opinion that got rejected at the end of the cycle? I am curious.

I wonder how many people are in this situation? I too want to know the answer. I hope getting a re-interview is a good sign.

I don't know how much this helps, but I got a re-interview and I have had 3 SUC emails since then. Hopefully this turns into an acceptance :xf:

This is nervewracking! Haven't heard anything since submitting my secondary.

Back to work. Just needing to vent.

I submitted my secondary in October, then crickets for almost three months. Then interview invite, interview, and acceptance all came within a span of three weeks. So keep the faith and keep preparing for an interview because they don't seem to give much warning!

Ha! They must of somehow knew that I just posted. Just got rejected literally 5 minutes ago. In-state for the record.

That helps. Then we'll take it as a good sign. Did you call up the admissions or did you email them to reschedule for a re-interview? Thanks!

Did they offer a re-interview, or did you request to be re-interviewed and that prompted them to offer one?

I got that email that said there were "divergence in opinions" and that they wanted to re-interview me. The email came about 5 days after my 1st interview, and my 2nd interview was about a month later.

Alright. That is good to know ploichompu. I emailed them last week stating I am aware that I'll be heading for a second interview. I'll just wait for their reply then.

Did you have a med student in your interview panel?

Yeah, there was a med student on both of my panels (the 2nd interview had a whole new panel though).

I would suggest that you call them if it's been a while since you emailed them about the 2nd interview. They responded to my email the next day.

Did they send you an email invitation for an interview? Thanks again!

I just recieved my interview invite with UW. Anyone know if the WWAMI interview process is the same as other out-of-staters? Thanks

Yeah. They first sent me an email saying there was a divergence of opinions and they wanted to interview me again. I emailed them back, and they responded asking if a particular date would be ok. I said that it was fine, and maybe a week later they sent me the official email invitation to interview asking me to confirm it on the status page (the same type of email that you get for your first interview invitation).

I should note that I chose not to go to the entire interview day for my second interview since I had already done all of that the first time. You just have to let them know that you only plan to come for your interview, and not for the whole day.

OK. I just sent them another email and I am hoping they'll get back on me. Thanks again!

Idahoer here - Interviewed 1/10, accepted 1/12. 3.7, 37R.

My sister interviewed 1/11 and was also accepted the same day (reapplicant), but since we never shared stats I can't help you with numbers.

I was told that the adcom would meet friday Feb 9th and Sat Feb 10th (if necessary) and make their decisions, but since we received our acceptance calls directly from our adcom members, you might have to wait until Monday to hear back.

At any rate, all Idaho applicants should know their status rather soon, and you can probably check the application page to see if you've been updated.

Huge congrats, GoZags! You give me hope 🙂

Haha thanks! I still haven't received an email or anything yet tho...wonder if that will come here in the next few days?? Any other Idaho-ers have to wait a few days after their Adcom member called?

Idahoer here accepted 2/10. Excom said that email should be out on Monday or Tuesday - best of luck to all those still in the running!

Hey all, first post here.

Anyone here interview for the TRUST program last week? Anyone know about when they release the acceptances/rejections for that?

Im wondering if it operates like the regional interviews where the ex com meetings are pretty much the day after the last day of the interview week, thus the letters come out pretty much within a week or so.

thanks

For any current students:

So the website says that the deadline for the merit-based scholarship application is on May 31st ... if you fill it before is there a chance you would be informed yes/no before? Does UW offer many merit-based awards? There was not much talk about it on the interview day.

Thanks in advance!

I am from Idaho and was just informed that I am on the wait list (#4). Does anyone know how many people have been accepted off the wait list in years past? My guess is not many from the Idaho group.

Just got a rejection. Not even on the waitlist. 35O/3.88 Not too sure why as my interview went really well. Idaho applicant.

This is accurate as far as Idaho goes, because I know the #3 wait-list personally 🙂 and was the last to get in. Apparently the Idaho list getting to #3 had not happened in years, not much movement I guess :-/

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a conundrum and would like to hear your input. I'm an OOR applicant and I just received an interview invitation for early March. Now, I'm very grateful for this opportunity but the main problem is cost. I would be paying an exorbitant amount of money to attend. What are the chances for admission at this point of the cycle for an OOR applicant?

Thanks in advance.

According to the website FAQ, about a third of the people interviewed are accepted (oor and wwami lumped together). You're part of about a 2% who got an interview! How much do you want to go to uw? Do you have any other acceptances? If uw isn't a strong choice and/or you have acceptances to other strong schools, perhaps the exorbitant amount wouldn't be worth the chance. Personally uw is my top choice so I'd go though haha

Thanks for the info...even though it's discouraging. Hoping for a miracle.

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a conundrum and would like to hear your input. I'm an OOR applicant and I just received an interview invitation for early March. I submitted my secondary very late and received the interview within the one month period. Now, I'm very grateful for this opportunity but the main problem is cost. I live abroad and would be paying an exorbitant amount of money to attend. What are the chances for admission at this point of the cycle for an OOR applicant? Does UW do video calls?

Thanks in advance.

I'd evaluate where else I've been accepted and ask myself if I were to turn this down, would I be absolutely content with the decision and not have any regrets about not having the chance to interview at UW? I don't think interviewing late puts you at much of a disadvantage at UW because they really seem to keep who they want in the fold until the very end and have plenty of spots ready for acceptance if they really like you on interview day. But I do think having a video call with UW will probably hurt your cause because it shows that you're not willing to go all the way to say I will go there so that's the one thing I don't recommend. I'm a OOR applicant from the East Coast and I didn't even think twice about not going, but I can understand the brutal costs of traveling abroad.

So, I would not let the fact that your interview is late in the season deter you from interviewing. They wouldn't have invited you if they didn't see something they really liked in your application. They also wouldn't have invited you if they didn't have any intent of offering you a spot if everything goes will in the interview.

There are many who are waiting in the applicant pool until the end of march. So, I don't think you should worry about them having an open spot.

If it were me, I would go. Becoming a doctor is a very expensive process. But, sometimes it takes money to make money. UW is an amazing school. Just show them what they'll be missing if they don't accept you.

In the "Advice from the Dean of Admissions" webinars, Dr. Teitz said that they only fill half the seats by March. She also said that interviewing earlier at UW does not increase your odds of getting in. They seem to hold many offers until after interview season is over. Based on that, I'd say your chance of acceptance when interviewing in March is equal to the chance you would have had interviewing in October. My very limited understanding is that this is not the case at most medical schools.

As far as video calls, I don't think so. At least one candidate had traveled from abroad to interview on my day.

Thank you all for your responses! I've accepted the offer to interview 🙂

Wow, UW sure does things fast.
Got an II yesterday and wasn't complete until the sometime the week of the deadline.

Super ecstatic! And as an added bonus, maybe my parents will stop pestering me to take the GRE and consider applying to grad school...for a while.

In-state, WWAMI region, or OOR?

Anyone that got in: are you all 4 year grads or did any of you do community college and then transfer?
