I'm confused. I had the "on hold for rereview" status up until yesterday. Now I've got, "your file is complete and will now be reviewed by the committee...this may take several weeks.."

??

This is the first time I've checked it though - so who knows what has happened in the last couple days. Oh well - haha - you all seem to keep me updated well enough.

btw, I read on last year's thread that status updates are only processed on Thursdays, which seems to make some sense of yesterday's circus of updates.

seems like the ones that were changed to "you'll receive an email shortly...." will prob get the II this week, and the ones moved to "file is complete, ready to be reviewed," may be looked at in the next week. **

Last year, the website clearly said that updates occur once weekly. This year, the status page states that updates occur daily. Remember again that last year GW had paper applications.
 
Just checked, i had the we are reviewing your app status, and now I have the "your app has been reviewed and you are on hold for re-review"

Welp, guess thats my first rejection of many to come!

They come back and re-review applications periodically and pick up new applicants for an interview every time. I suspect they're just starting with the upper-tier applicants first and working their way "down." Being put on hold is not a definite rejection, especially so early on in the game.

I don't think so. I was taken off the re-review status. 3.00c/3.14s/33
 
If it makes you feel better I don't think I've come off the on hold status yet this season 😛

I don't think they are starting with top-tier applicants; after all, GW is never made up of a class of people that had the highest test scores and GPAs. I think they are looking for applicants within their score ranges. If memory serves me, that seems to be how it started last year. Of course, that is just an interpretation, they may be doing something behind the scenes we can't comprehend simply by looking at stats.
 
Lol wow. Yeah it's super early. I have a 4.0 33 too so who knows what they r looking for. Should be an interesting year for sure!

Let's hope their entire class is 33 MCAT 🙂 Not higher or lower.
 
Why do so many people apply to GWU and GU anyway? I mean, I get that they're good schools and stuff, but there are a lot of good schools that don't have 10k+ applicants.

They will probably send out e-mails if there is something significant that they would like you to know. Until that happens, I think it would be a good idea to just check your status once at the end of the day so that you're not too stressed out over it.

I wonder why their average MCAT is so low considering how desirable this school seems to be.

The low stats probably contribute to how "popular" they are.

well, considering that DC gets so few "in-state" applicants, there is virtually no chance whatsoever of in state preference. i.e. all 180 spots of the class are up for grabs. to anyone, from anywhere. other private schools that say they're not giving preference to their in-staters are lying

Got my FAP today, so I could finally send in my secondary! I am complete now.

Uh.. Don't you need to use FAP for primaries to be eligible for the secondary fee waiver?

No you don't. FAP just isn't retroactive, so all the schools I applied to first cost me money on the primary. That's fine with me, I had waited months for my parents to send me their tax info and wasn't expecting them to finally send it. AAMC only took about three days to approve me.

And how I know FAP can be used without using it on the primary is I logged into Stanford's website after being approved and they didn't give me an option to pay with a credit card. They said they received my FAP paperwork and took away the fee. So I clicked that I am a recipient of FAP on the GWU secondary and they said they would check and verify.
 
I still have this status

"Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed."



Man I hope I can get an interview, it's so early and we all are already freaking out :laugh:
 
how many days will it take to review our applications if we are within their ranges AND we have all other factors being strong? Not to mention, we are the early birds 🙂

I cant tell if you are being serious in asking this, but there is no way to know. With med school admissions, you could be within their ranges, have a strong overall application, be early, and still get put on-hold until March and then get flat-out rejected pre-interview. It's a crapshoot.

i was being a bitch about those status updates because I am freaking out about being a reapplicant, and now I'm okay with admitting they might mean something. haha.


I never checked that status site until after I got waitlisted this year, I didnt even know their was a status check site last year bc our app was all on paper. can anyone confirm this means an interview?

I submit last Monday and never had the hold status, just the "credentials received" one.

Alright..was just wondering because I also submitted the same day as you (I think) and my status didn't change yet lol. I have a 3.4/35S so I'm not really sure how they view gpa vs mcat...
 
I have the on-hold status as well. Solid numbers and EC's.
