I know someone mentioned this already. But I came here from another country, so what are some opinions on that being a good "achievement" as far as adjusting to a new lifestyle and such. Also, for that question, are we just being really direct, or would it help to make it like a story?

For the last questions about GW specifically, are we supposed to be specific about certain GW programs we're interested in? Or general stuff?
of course you should be specific to GW.

Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that in order to do a thorough review of your file it may be several weeks until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process.
for me

Still for me

hey pal, I have the exact same status as you do. They received my application on the 11th. I think we both will hear from the committee by the end of this week. You think?

I honestly have no idea, but I would definitely like hearing back by the end of this week 🙂

George Washington is moving fast. It seems that way. Temple has been slowwalking I hear.

Temple is incredibly slow. Apparently they had trouble processing payments submitted in 7/11. They didn't get my payment even though I have a confirmation number and charge on my CC statement. They didn't notify me of it until yesterday.

I emailed last night and called today. Still no solution.

Just got an interview invite! Secondary received 7/5, AMCAS complete 7/6 (submitted on 6/6), and submitted secondary on 7/12. Checked status compulsively (haha, maybe this helped?) and only ever saw the following message:

"Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed..."

Ahhh I'm so excited! 🙂 Good luck to the rest of you! I'll keep ya'll posted on my interview experiences.

I really hope that is the case for me. I have only had that status since they received it around the same time as you did. How much time did they take to send the actual interview email after the "happy status correspondence"? Congratulations to you and the poster above who just got an interview today. I should be hearing from them shortly.

Here is my status:

"Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. Files are re-reviewed by the committee periodically and there is no set schedule for decisions. We do interview from September through March. You are welcome to update your file via [email protected]. If we require any further documentation or if your status changes, we will contact you immediately. We do sincerely appreciate your interest in our program. Thank you for your patience."

Do not despair. It is very early. 🙂 Stay calm.

That's the message I currently have. No interview invite though.

I received no other correspondence from them apart from my receipt for paying to submit my secondary on 7/12 (so, 1 week between secondary submission and interview invitation).

Can those of you with invites share your stats?

MCAT=mid-low 30's, cumulative GPA ~3.8, science GPA similar.

I spent a lot of time ensuring my secondary reflected my strong desire to go here.

you have a high chance of acceptance 🙂 80-90% of those with these stats got accepted into medical school 🙂

As a medical school re-applicant (but first time applying to GW), I hope you are correct. 🙂

:luck::luck::luck: to everyone!

I did too. 4.0 33R on hold 🙁

Ugh, at times this process seems frustratingly random. You'll be successful so long as you are persistent! Bear in mind what sjagan1 said to me, which also applies to you:

Haha I keep telling me that 80% of people like me will get in, but then I'm like oh no! What if I'm in that 20%?!?!?!

That's the message I currently have. No interview invite though.

This is interesting, we are two people who submitted on the 11th-12th and they still have not sent us a message. Someone who sent on the 13th already got an interview. What is going on?

They might just need to.send your app through a few more reviewers before they decide hold or interview right now. This process is a marathon.. don't expect prompt responses from the majority of schools.

They probably have better stats/better secondary.

Congrats!! So - did all of you with interview invites find out through checking your status or did they send an email as well? Just curious... I'm trying not to check the status pages all the time!

Email long before status change

Email first. Btw, this is what my status was changed to after I received interview invite:

"Correspondence concerning the status of your application has been sent to you via email."

If you consider an 80% acceptance rate, if you say they will interview 5 people, 4 of the 5 will get in. Man those are amazing odds. I'd say that last person has a serious weakness with their application. Last time I applied that was me! 80% odds, I was that one that didn't get in 🙁 but I admittedly had a weak spot that is hopefully fixed this time around hehe. I think that if you seriously think you have the complete package (unless for example you have absolutely NO clinical experience, or are applying to only Harvard), you are most likely going to get in.

Just my opinion!

My status is the complete one too... received 7/5, submitted 7/18.

For those of you with interviews:

Which airport are you guys planning to fly into? Baltimore seems a ton cheaper for me, even with the price of a shuttle, but it's an hour away. Is everyone else just flying into Reagan and taking the metro (which seems really convenient)?

I'm trying to weigh the advantages of saving money to convenience and less hassle.

I do not have an interview (rats!), but I have frequently flown into DC. I'm not a huge fan of flying into Baltimore because depending on when you arrive/depart, traffic can be horrible and unpredictable. I much prefer DCA.

Good luck a the interview!

flying into reagan and taking a cab to my hotel.. more expensive yes but zero hassle.

Take the free shuttle to the MARC to Union Station. It's an extra hour versus flying into Reagan but the cost savings...

on hold also D:

35Q 3.75gpa.

Hey pal, this is interesting. 1289 with an MCAT of 29 got an interview right away. You don't? Your stats are stellar.

I have the same GPA as you with challenging loads and strong science gpa. My MCAT score is close to the average with each section at least 8 and above.

I have not heard back from them at all and they received mine on the 12th.

my status has always been "at this point...."

Wow really??!! The sense of entitlement in this thread is appalling. You know nothing about me besides a couple of numbers.

Edit: sorry grabslamboot, that was meant for sjagan
