flying into reagan and taking a cab to my hotel.. more expensive yes but zero hassle.

Great to know! I received my interview invite for 8/31, and I cannot wait! 🙂 Does anyone else have an interview on this date?

Wow really??!! The sense of entitlement in this thread is appalling. You know nothing about me besides a couple of numbers.

Edit: sorry grabslamboot, that was meant for sjagan

👍 Application season brings out the worst in people. Just watch it get worse as the year progresses :scared:

Hey pal, this is interesting. 1289 with an MCAT of 29 got an interview right away. You don't? Your stats are stellar.

I have the same GPA as you with challenging loads and strong science gpa. My MCAT score is close to the average with each section at least 8 and above.

I have not heard back from them at all and they received mine on the 12th.

my status has always been "at this point...."

Hate to break it to you, but an 8 is nothing to brag about.

i'm on the 28th! the interview day here is great, good luck!

well let me bow my hat to you, because i am clearly not worthy of an interview. if there's anything I can do to give up my interview for you and your 8 above in each section, let me know. how dare I steal a spot from such a worthy applicant! shame on me!

yikes! didn't mean to start a war by sharing my numbers. congrats to everyone who got an interview.

Looks like someone needs to hug it out.

So what if GWU is "weird." That's how they are!

Let's take a moment to think of the electrons used every day around the world to rant online. Billions more dead every minute.

I didn't mean anything by the weird comment. Everyone knows admissions at all schools are weird. Some people get rejected and others don't for no apparent reason. Nothing takes away from someone earning a well deserved II no matter their stats because it was through hard work. Everything will fall in place for us all eventually.

+1. As long as they accept me I don't care how weird they are.

.For " your most significant achievement outside the classroom" do you think they would prefer to hear about experiences during college/the last 4 years, or are they looking to hear about an significant achievement at any point in your life?

thanks!

.

I do not have an interview (rats!), but I have frequently flown into DC. I'm not a huge fan of flying into Baltimore because depending on when you arrive/depart, traffic can be horrible and unpredictable. I much prefer DCA.

Good luck a the interview!

If you are looking for cheaper, sometimes Washington Dulles has cheaper flights than Reagan and they have a shuttle that takes you to the Metro. Its closer/easier than Baltimore (and is what I am doing!)

I still have this message

"Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner..."

As do many of you out there, I have this as my status...

At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that in order to do a thorough review of your file it may be several weeks until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process."

1289, I want to make it clear that I am happy you got an interview and I have no qualms about it at all.

I was starting to get frustrated with the process and felt it was odd how they were doing their statuses and all that. It was nothing personal.

I hope you get accepted and continue with your dream.

I am sorry I put you in a position where you felt upset and frustrated.

(that goes to others too that were not happy)

That is my mistake. I will be more careful before I post.

What is your most significant achievement outside the classroom? (750 characters)

My boyfriend and I keep debating whether or not tutoring is considered "outside the classroom." I earned an award from the bio department (my major) which is given to bio students for their works in things other than their major. IE, not for good grades or research achievement.

He says that tutoring and the award are both purely academic. They are both done in school, awarded by the school and for school, so it can't be used for my essay.

Thoughts, anyone??? Is tutoring considered "inside the classroom"?

I think by "outside the classroom" they are looking for anything except grades; they don't want an essay about how well you did in BIO 101 despite hardships, or how you always destroyed the curve in Honors Quantum Physics. In that sense, tutoring is certainly "outside the classroom." In fact, tutoring is an excellent topic to write about for a prompt like this, as it demonstrates your ability to communicate.

yeah, its one of those things. they have to cut so many people. nothing is guranteed.

regardless, good luck and respect to you. 🙂

Interview invite! 32/3.85. Sept 4th. Very excited! Complete July 16th.

Secondary is submitted! Too bad AMCAS isn't verified yet. The more I read about the program to write my "why GW" essay, the more I wanted to be there.

starting to think this "rereview" thing might just be a silent rejection....i hope not though!

According to their admissions people, they have already flat-out rejected some applicants, and A LOT of people get put on hold for re-review. To me, it sounds like re-review means you passed a screen of some sort, but didn't really jump to the top of the pile for any number of reasons. I was also told that sending letters of interest can bring your application back out for discussion, and that you're basically up for rejection anytime that they send out a wave of acceptances... so looks like we're all stuck on re-review until october unless our LOIs actually make a difference.

hey everyone, where are you from? I am from Maryland so DC is really known to me. Let's talk about something lively to take our minds off of the "process"

I'm from VA, but I go to school in Colorado. So I'll be making a lot of trips East for interviews. Going to be a fun time management exercise!

Especially DC. My favorite city!

Wanted to jump in and point out for anyone who hasn't received the app yet but might be working on it, that the character count does not include spaces or punctuation. 🙂

.7... What is your most significant achievement outside the classroom? (750 characters).

Just wondering how you guys approached this one. Did you go with a more "physical" (tangible?) achievement or an "emotional" one? (i.e. completing a project vs saving the world with your volunteering haha) I have a few ideas that I'm tossing around but I haven't decided on one particular idea that I want to stick with yet....

Mine was physical and emotional.
