I have the same stats, 4 publications and lots of awards. Also on hold for re-review. </3
haha, well I don't have four but i've got one and some solid life experience living in a foreign country.
let's hug it out. hold me.

both.7... What is your most significant achievement outside the classroom? (750 characters).
Just wondering how you guys approached this one. Did you go with a more "physical" (tangible?) achievement or an "emotional" one? (i.e. completing a project vs saving the world with your volunteering haha) I have a few ideas that I'm tossing around but I haven't decided on one particular idea that I want to stick with yet....
hey 5lippy when were you complete?
lolz i actually don't know. i submitted my app 7/16. never got any "complete" email or anything like that.
Would this be an appropriate time if I just got an invite from georgetown to send a "in the area" email to GWU?
are u going to mention that u got an interview from GTOWN?
It seems like there are plenty of people in a similar situation and that schools are being receptive to their emails. You could always say something like, "if you've reviewed my application and there's a possibility that i will be interviewed... bla bla bla... i'm going to be in town on ___ for an interview at Georgetown, so it would be very convenient for me... bla bla bla" 🙂Yes, I don't think that would be a poor decision. There are a few things I'm not sure about. I've got a draft going, and a few things that need to be addressed delicately, namely how to hint at the desire to interview while there and the financial side of things. Obviously I want to interview while there so I don't have to purchase two cross country tickets, when one would do. But should I just say, "hey I'm going to be in DC, can I get an interview?" (with more tact obviously).
Put on hold for re-review...AGAIN. 🙁. I guess I'll just chalk this one up as a L

I thought they only updated on Thursdays? 🙁Your application to The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences is complete and has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date.
Same here.

im thinking about writing a LOI as a hail mary. anyone have any suggestions as to what is an appropriate length? would you say 12 pt font 1 page is too little or too much
I wrote one and submitted it this morning. I've been on re review since 7/10 so I'll let you know if my letter bears any fruits.

well what do you know? my application status updated. I was starting to get worried but things are really moving along.
I got put on re-view but I am not worried. I am not going to stress and instead wait it out patiently 🙂
We will all get through this. I believe in each and every one of us.
First, you might want to give it a couple more weeks before sending a LOI. I understand your sense of urgency, but it is still pretty early in the application cycle. The truth is, we don't really know with certainty what these status changes mean. The admissions office might be doing things differently this year, and honestly, you don't know how they'd feel about getting LOIs so early in the process. It could show them your enthusiasm. Or alternatively, it could give the impression that you are either pushy or desperate. I guess taking a risk is what you mean by "hail mary!" 🙂
That said, if you do choose to write a LOI make sure you focus on quality over quantity. A one-pager would be great if you can fill it with meaningful things, but if you can get out all that you need to say in a couple of paragraphs, that will be sufficient. Rehashing things you have said elsewhere or stuffing your LOI with fluff will not get you an interview.
Best of luck to you though!![]()
I wrote one too and submitted last night. I'll let you all know what happens with it.
hey buddy, a lot of people get put on hold for review. I heard you are in the range. They will interview you later on.
That is not necessarily a bad thing!! 🙂

I'm in the range? Do you mean stats? My stats are horrible (3.00/3.14/33)
What I am trying to say is that a commenter earlier said that a LOT of people get put on re-review. That means that you made it through an initial cut but did not make it to the top of the file. You actually were not rejected outright.
So i think we are making mountains out of mole hills when it comes to re-review statuses

Oh, I didn't know they already started rejecting people?
Hi guys!
So I'm having trouble with the 'whats your most significant experience outside of the classroom' question. So I learned how to swim from a class in college, but it required a lot of outside practice. Do you guys think I can write about it or is it still considered 'inside' classroom.
Thank you!!! and congrats to II and good luck to those who submitted!

Thank you!I think they are trying to avoid reading about academic achievement. Learning how to swim falls outside that category. You probably don't even have to point out that it was a class.

It's my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, but this is the kind of stuff they're after.

I don't think so? I thought re-review was a soft-reject?
According to someone from their admissions office, they have rejected outright at this point. On hold is a very common status, so it might just be awhile until they get back to those applications to actually review them. From what I've gathered, send LOIs if you want to speed that up a bit.I don't think so? I thought re-review was a soft-reject?

I gotcha.

Have they sent out rejection emails or status updates? So re-review is not the same thing as a rejection?
Not sure... I would assume email since we haven't heard of a rejection status yet but who knows.Have they sent out rejection emails or status updates? So re-review is not the same thing as a rejection?

i think its one of those things where you shouldent expct to get an interview when you are placed on hold, so dont set yourself up for dissapointment. But if you do come off hold and get an interview, just be pleasantly suprised haha
so anyone who lives near dc/east coast... What kind of weather can we expect for the end of august? Midwesterner here.
