I wrote a LOI

I submitted my GWU secondary on 8/4, but I was not verified by AMCAS untl 8/28... so I have no idea when I was labeled as "complete", but for the past month my status said "hold for re-review."

It is 10/16 now, and I am still on hold for review... so do you think I should submit an LOI?

If so, what aspects should I highlight in my LOI?

I have little experience in writing LOI's so any help would be much obliged!

You'd be considered complete some time after you were verified. If GW is your #1 school then send an LOI (can't hurt), it seems to have gotten a number of ppl interviews that were on hold for re-review (myself included), but don't if it isn't.

Thank you for your input! Yes, GW is definitely my first choice (should I mention this in my LOI?)

Waitlisted at GW but going to withdraw so hopefully someone else will move up a slot!

You should explicitly state this, yes. There are tons of online resources about LOIs, you should check em out.

Interview invite today! Complete since sometime the end of September/early October (not sure exactly when the status changed) They scheduled me for Nov. 30th Super Excited!

EDIT: I had to reschedule for December 4th since I have an exam and a group presentation on Nov. 30th. It's only a 2 business day delay but I hope that doesn't hurt my chances.

Do you mind sharing your stats? I've been complete since July 27th so I'm trying to gauge where I stand. Thanks!

Hey all, probably will be withdrawing my waitlist position soon. I know I'm just one spot on there but I remember the agony of the waitlist last year and how seeing even one less person on it inspired a glimmer of hope for me Haha. Good luck guys!

Same here. Withdrawing today.

I actually had turned in my app around the end of July too but one pesky letter writer did not turn in his letter until the end of September which sucks and I thought I was . But to be honest I am not a super applicant (average stats/extra-curriculars) but I really tried to write essays that showed my interest and make me stand out so I think that was a factor. I know I didn't give you specifics but I hope that helps. Good Luck!

+1 - wow, what a turnaround...
I'll tell you one thing I just looked at your MDApps and we actually have similar stats and you have a lot of great extracurriculars so I think you still have a shot.

Not really helpful, no, as I would imagine we all tried to write the same type of essays, but thank you for the good luck. I will continue to refresh my email every 20 minutes.

I've been complete for 1 mo now. Should I email them and ask to see what's up? Or should I just continue and wait?

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. 🙂 I'm trying so dilligently to learn some patience; but it just doesn't come easily to me. LoL

EDIT: I actually just had one of my first-author pubs accepted yesterday and need to draft an update to all of my schools. I'm just nervous b/c I already sent one in and don't want to seem too annoying.

You're sassy. I like that. Also, me too...

I am indeed. Perhaps we'll interview together.. because obviously they know we're obsessively refreshing our emails so they're going to send our II's right away.

accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Submitted my secondary over the weekend. Now the wait for II.

Turned around my secondary the same day I got it (10/9) along with wistful story about how GW is my top choice and how I know I belong, etc. Any estimate on how long the change of status might be?

Mine was about 6 weeks. Actually a fairly quick turnaround compared to lots of other places. Anyway, on that note, I just got an II this morning! I'd be so, so happy to go to GWU....

Congrats and good luck!

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! 🙂

If you're on the waitist and you're seriously considering GW, I suggest that you send a letter of interest in a month or so. Waitlist movement doesn't happen until early May, so the wait can be very agonizing. You should send as many update letters and LOIs as possible (without annoying the admissions office). There was a considerable amount of waitlist movement last year, so there is still hope!

If you have any questions about what GW is like, feel free to PM me.

Hi everyone,

I am interviewing on Nov 9th and I will like to book a hotel room for overnight stay. Does anyone any good hotel that is close to the campus and is cheap too?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

I stayed at a hostel. It was clean and cheap. I stayed there 3 nights to see the city (first time in DC) and I met some cool German med students to tour around with.

Two metro stops away from the school. Hard to beat $30 a night

Sent an in the area email today and quickly got a response that it was added to my file. Has anyone had luck after sending one? (I don't really feel like re-going through the whole thread to try and see haha). I was but on hold recently so I don't know if that affects things at all.

Also can anyone with a recent interview invite share when they are currently scheduling interviews for? My in the area dates are mid January so I don't know how that fits in with where they are at with invites. Thanks!

A few of us have, but it didn't make a difference.

Interview invite yesterday scheduled for early December. On hold since middle of August.

Hope that helps

Are they still sending out IIs? I'm really hoping to get either a December or a January (latest) one.

to everyone on hold right now, just wanted to chime in that last year they even added an interview date randomly the first week of May-- it's not over until you get rejected. good luck yallll

Hey bro, its been a long time since I was last on this thread. Did you accepted into GW?

Also, have there been interviews for those on hold?

Sent from my DROID3 using SDN Mobile

Do you guys remember when GW said they'd notify you of merit scholarships if you're qualified?

"Alternate List" 🙁

Interviewed early September
