II just received! So excited! Also one interview I don't have to fly to, so that'll be awesome.

Edit: Marked complete 7/31

Invite today at 2pm! Did not expect this one. Super excited and honored to be even considered by Hopkins. They scheduled my interview for 9/06, which surprisingly is quite soon. What's your date? And how are you getting to Baltimore? Train, bus, cab?

Nice job to both of you, definitely something to be proud of!

When did you submit? I heard it might take a very long time to be marked as complete.

I had to change my date to the 28th (I was originally scheduled for the 6th) due to another interview. I actually work in the DC area so I'm just going to drive the hour or so up to Baltimore the day before. I will probably stay with a student host.

Interview Invite!!! I cannot believe this, I never thought I would get an interview. My hands are shaking even as I'm typing this. I am so beyond excited!!!! :soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:

How do you know you were "complete", I didn't get an official complete email.

Does anyone else applying with a fee waiver see this message when they log into their submitted application?

"Application Status: Completed on 8/6/2012
Application Fee: Not Received"

I received the "Application Complete" email but am a little worried about the fee saying "Not Received."

Since you got the complete email, you should be fine. I also used a fee waiver, and (As far as I can remember) I had a similar status.

Interview invite - I'm incredibly excited! I was complete on 7/31.

Congrats to all those who have been invited for an interview!! Interview day is awesome: fun, friendly, efficient. The last one especially, hope you all enjoy it! 🙂

Just wanted to congratulate those who have received interview invites! We just had our first day of M1 orientation this morning and can't wait to see you guys during interviews.

Hopkins on the 3rd page? Unacceptable!

Hey, if you tell them to complete my file and pitch me an II, I'll keep the JHU thread at the top of the first page the whole cycle. 😉

Can you reschedule their interviews? The date that they gave me is terrible for me, as it's full of exams.

Yes I rescheduled mine last year. Keep in mind that if you reschedule you must go to the new interview date. You cannot change it again.

I replied back to my e-mail saying that I need to reschedule, but I haven't received a response yet. Should I worry about the 24 hour limit thing?

When I needed to reschedule, they replied with a phone call. I think since you replied during the weekend, you'll probably get the call on Monday but I don't think the 24 hour thing will be a problem. Congrats on the interview!

Is it OK if we replied directly to the interview e-mail? It was still sent to the e-mail address that we should confirm the interview with.

EDIT: I'm starting to be a little too paranoid, lol.

If it was the same e-mail address then it shouldn't be a problem. There's no point in worrying over the weekend. I had a similar situation with scheduling an interview at another school so I know the weekend wait feels like an eternity! Just try to keep busy.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Would a flight out of Baltimore at 7:50PM be doable? I know they say the interview day is over at 5, but based on my experience (just one interview) that prediction can be inaccurate.

You're probably fine. I fly into/out of BWI with some regularity, and if you don't have to check any bags security takes no more than an hour. Heck, you'll probably get through security in 30-45 minutes if there's a crowd.

Thanks for the input. Flights weren't too expensive 🙂

I did a 730 flight last year and had plenty of time to spare. You are essentially done when your last interview is over so it might be earlier but it won't be any later than 5.

My 8/4 MCAT scores will be released next week. Do you think I should put in the date, leave blank, and submit the secondary this week or wait for the scores and submit? They sent me the secondary last Friday, so I would still be within the 2 week turnaround? I plan to apply whether my scores are competitive or not because it is my dream school.

Also, I am having a hard time coming up with a topic for the essay dealing with not being in the majority. How did y'all handle this question?

Solved that dilemma by not doing it. I know you can think outside the box on that one, but I felt I haven't really been in the minority for anything. I didn't want to force it. However, I lack an II so maybe you should disregard my advice.

You're pretty funny! Me neither. There were a few instances but I don't want to get controversial. Still thinking about it. Maybe I will have an epiphany over the next few days.

Also, it seems like you are following me around on this forum. First Case now Hopkins. What next Baylor or Pitt? Oops! I just let you know where else I was applying. LOL! Just kidding! Thanks for the advice.

Haha no, great minds just apply alike. No Baylor for me. It's way too hot for me down there, and Pitt just didn't interest me. I don't really know anything about it.

I hear you on the heat. I have been a southern resident all my life and I still can't get use to the heat. I am looking at schools for their clinical and research opportunities because I plan to have a career with both (not MD/PhD--too long). I'm looking at MD/MS in biomedical research or physician investigator programs. I know Hopkins doesn't have one, but IT'S HOPKINS! Good luck to you, though!👍

Congrats on the interview!
