When will they waitlist people? After May 15 meeting?

According to last year's thread, wait list letters were sent May 23.

My understanding is that as well as accepting more people at the May 1 meeting, all the other NFAs are either rejected or put on the wait list. They rank the wait list, but you can't find out your ranking. After the May 1 meeting, they'll send out acceptances and rejections but will hold off on sending wait list letters for a few more weeks.

But then after May 15 (the final double-hold deadline), they see how many spots have opened since May 1. If it's 15 spots, they'll immediately send acceptance letters to the top 15 people on the potential wait list. These people are accepted outright, without having first received a letter saying they're on the WL. Then, when they have a deposit down for every single space in the class, everyone else still on the WL is notified via snail mail that they're on the WL. Some of these people will be accepted during the summer as acceptees get off WLs at other schools and withdraw from LSU-NO.

I actually interviewed 3/18 as well so I was in your group haha small world. So basically odds are that all letters after the 4/12 meeting will be NFAs for the March interviewees?
Haha small world indeed. Not too hard to figure out which one I was since I was the only OOS person that day. But from reading forums from last year I've come to the conclusion that we will all either get NFAs or rejected. I don't really see them giving out any spots at all at the time our letters will be sent. I mean maybe one of us will get lucky, but I can't really see any other option at this point, unless they've already had a spot open up and they're just holding it for somebody they really like. I'm just waiting for my NFA (hopefully) and hoping that the next month goes by quickly.

My tribunal met last week (12 April). From what I gather, nothing but NFAs and rejections on the docket for the foreseeable future?

Most likely NFAs mailed tomorrow or Wednesday, but at least you won't have to wait very long to get another letter! We'll all be thrown back into the mix on May 1. :scared:

ETA: Now that I think about it, it seems strange to hold an adcom meeting and not offer a single acceptance. Surely some people have already released their spots (in fact, I know a few who have). So, maybe not all NFAs and rejections for this last round of interviewees?

Ok, if I'm lucky enough to be accepted in early May, I'd love to sign up for Camp Tiger. But I just found out that I've got a family vacation starting on May 24th (the last day of Camp Tiger).
Can any current students please tell me if I could do Camp Tiger but miss the last day? Or is it an all-or-nothing thing?

If you don't mind me asking how many people do you know that have given up spots already?? I hope quite a few!

You should be fine. Just let them know you can't be there on a friday. Friday is usually a half-day (for the kids, longer if parents can't pick them up that early). It should be no biggie.

Got my NFA today, dated yesterday. 🙁 Hurray for sitting around waiting til May 15

do you live in New Orleans? I still dont have mine yet. Wondering what is happening...😕

I think they're actually transported to an LSU mail facility in Baton Rouge and then properly mailed there. The NFA I got in March was stamped that it was mailed from 70810.

thank you guys for clarifying.
Congrats to you MCSquared for getting the NFA letter at least! There is still hope!

Congrats to LavenderGooms for getting accepted!

hahahaha, nope, I'm still NFA.

LavenderGoos,
I thought I read you wrote that you got accepted. But there is still hope right?
I just got my NFA today too. Congrats to all who got an NFA! At least we are one step closer...🙂

Just got my NFA letter in the mail.. Guess we shall keep on waiting.. :
:scared:

Keep faith...my acceptance letter from last cycle was dated May 08 after being NFAed in March

So how does it work again? NFAs will become either acceptance, waitlist, or rejection right? And we will find this out sometime in May? After their final meeting on May 15?

Yes, NFA will either become an acceptance, rejection or waitlist, but the last advocacy meeting is May 1st. I think they also make the waitlist at that meeting too. I looked at last years application thread and it looks like people that were accepted received letters on May 9th, so I think people should expect letters around then for this year!

Yeah our date to watch is May 7 I would think, letters should be going out for acceptances the Tuesday after the advocacy meeting. So most of us should get our letters around May 8 if we hit the lottery.

I know the thrill of the thick envelope must be awesome, but I wish I could trade that for a quick acceptance e-mail so I'm not on pins and needles for an entire week after that advocacy meeting. :scared:

my letter was not so thick so i was thinking rejection ><

Would an RN with a 27 mcat and decent GPA stand a good shot at getting an interview next cycle?

I certainly think so. If you're in-state.
The RN thing is a huge plus; when Eubanks talked to my undergrad about the admissions process, he said the thing they most want to see is experience in the medical field (be it through volunteering or other avenues where you're getting clinical experience) so they know you're committed to this decision and understand what a medical career entails.
Get your app in by early August :luck:

I just spent a few minutes snooping around in last year's thread. The difference between last year and this year is that last year's big advocacy meeting was Friday, May 4. This year it's Wednesday, May 1. Last year's letters did go out on the Tuesday following the meeting (5/08)...so, two business days later. We've seen that pattern during this cycle with the Friday meetings followed by Tuesday letters. But perhaps this time, since the meeting is on a Wednesday, they won't wait til the following Tuesday to send out the letters? I think they'd break the Tuesday pattern in this case, and send the letters out two days after the meeting (Friday 5/03). They want to hear back from people as quickly as possible and get deposits to finalize the class so the wait list can then be set in stone (WL notifications go out a couple weeks later when the class is full).

Or am I just over-analyzing things to cope with my anxiety? 😳

Now here's a post I can get behind 👍

Just wanted to wish everyone NFA'd good luck today!! Can't wait to see those acceptances!

Does anyone know if letters were mailed today?

I just called the office. My Friday theory was wrong 🙁 All she said was that the letters from the May 1st meeting will be mailed "next week." She said she wasn't sure which day.

Thanks for finding out. I was hoping for a letter today but I guess Thursday will have to do. Hopefully.. Does someone know if we are all going to get letters?

I think it's only acceptances and rejections for now. They don't send out wait list letters until they have a deposit for every space in the class. Last year's thread said acceptances went out on May 8, and WL letters on May 22/23.

Hey I just called the admissions office they said they hope to send out all letters by the end of the week (acceptances, rejections and wait list) and there is a slim chance that we will receive them by this week. I plan on calling back tomorrow just so I know when the letters are mailed.

Thanks for that info! Ugh, guess I won't expect anything til Friday at the earliest. Did they say whether the letters are being sent out all at once, or are they being mailed throughout this week (as they're completed) with the goal of having them all mailed by Friday?

Sending wait list letters earlier than last year and the year before makes me think that they've had more accepted people put down deposits than perhaps they expected? They're not waiting two weeks to see if they can accept a few people from the potential WL before sending out the official WL letters like they normally do. They must be confident the WL is basically all set, with no chance of movement until the summer.

I wouldn't read too much into it. I think it changes every year and they were just trying to get the letters out all at once. They said there would be a small chance that they would send the letters out earlier in the week so I am thinking they send out all the letters at once. But if you're worried you can always call the office and ask, they are really nice on the phone.

I just called and got a very short "next two weeks" when I asked about letters going out. Idk I wish they would do this through email or something!

The letters are going out in the next two weeks, or everyone will have received one in the next two weeks?
Surely they know that the middle of May is non-refundable deposit time for people who have to make a decision...

Don't worry guys. You will get your decisions before that deadline as long as you are to be accepted and not WLed. That would be poor form if this was not the case. WL on the other hand are different.

Hey I just talked to the admissions office and asked specifically when they will send out ACCEPTANCES and they said they mailed them today!!!! Good Luck everyone!

Thank you for calling and getting that info! Now I am so nervous :scared:
I thought my interviews went great but I know that roughly ~40-50% of interviewees aren't accepted. Fingers crossed the dream I had last night comes true, haha.
Good luck everyone :luck:
