Sure not too shabby, but one should not go comparing this school to a top 40 NIH funded school..

It is what it is... (I would have used the expression pay for, but the tuition is exorbitant)

4th year student here. Excellent Match Day results for my class. Very proud of everyone that will be attending wonderful programs across the board. I got my #1 and that was the situation for most people. Those that didn't get their #1 are still going to great programs. Only the most difficult specialties had some difficulty in the match but still obtained positions in surgery. Even so we matched students into Opthalmology, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics, and Radiation Oncology.

It looks like a great list! I'm glad that the first class did so well. Congrats!

I think our few problems with the match came from not so much non-competitive applications but people with unrealistic expectations and no real back up plans. It really won't kill you to apply to a 2nd specialty if you're applying something competitive. It's better to hand pick your 2nd choice than have the SOAP hand you your 4th choice in a location you don't like.

Thank you!

Thanks so much for posting the list and congrats!! I think its a great list and you guys should be extremely proud!! I am now even more excited about being a Class of 2017 member!!

Is it worth attending the revisit day if I plan to attend? I live 3 hours away by bus.

Not really. It's just a preening session. Sorry if I seem blunt. But it's just a "we are so happy you have come here. You are the future" kind of pep talk session.

However, meeting your future classmates might be worthwhile if you can make it.

But it's not something you cannot miss out on.

I recall the first revisit day had only about a bit more than half of the matriculating students.

Hey:

Go find upperclassmen who have the SECRET STASH. I've accumulated a treasure trove of vital resources which will definitely help you attain great success in med school, on rotations, on USMLE, for your future.

I have passed it down to those whom I deemed worthy (or whoever asked me for it)...

It's kind of like that secret book hidden in the library in American Pie.

Anyway, ask around the upperclassmen about this.

Can someone explain to me to me SOAP and scramble? sorry if this is a stupid question...i dont really know anything about how residency mathes work and would love to learn!

Google is a good place to start... Typed in SOAP residency and the first link explained everything....

Are the next batch of decisions coming out April 4 or April 24th?

Someone who interviewed in late February posted on here that decisions would be out on April 5th.

There is definitely an April 24th date, but they may have added a new notification date in the beginning of April. What's weird is they didn't send a mass email out about it like they did for the extra January date.

I think that they moved the April 24th date up to April 5th so that all accepted students would be able to attend the second look day on April 20th. They said that they were going to move the date up for this reason when I interviewed mid-February, but at that time, they didn't know when the new date would be.

Sent an e-mail to withdraw my application. Good luck, everyone else!

Thanks! Seems like you've got a lot of great acceptances, so good luck in making your final decision!

I interviewed last week, and they said the next response date is April 5th, and then the last one would be April 30. They'll make the wait list on April 30. 🙂

They interview through April, so they have to have a later date. I know a few people who have interviews on the week of April 8th, so the 5th couldn't be the last decision date.

That makes sense 🙂. Its what I figured, I'm just surprised they didn't send out an email like they did last time.

I was just relaying what they had said at my interview date. They must have added interview dates in April because we were told that interviews would conclude at the end of March, thus the need to add an extra date that we weren't informed about.

i recently interviewed there, and they told me that our batch will know the status of their decision on Apr 5th. Hope they did not change that.

Good luck to all!!!

I have an interview on April 8th week myself so I hope the 5th isn't final decision date lol. Expensive trip from down south 😵

They said at my interview that the 5th is the next date, but April 30th is the last date.

Notably, all of these SOAP'd applicants all went for Ortho. I will comment two of these did not have the most competitive of CVs and did not bother to apply to Gen Surgery; 1 individual had 15 interviews but had an acerbic personality; the final one was attempting a couple's match but had certain other politically incorrect factors going against this person; so take what lessons you will from this

Messed up to air your classmates' dirty laundry like that.

Has anyone who has interviewed since Feb 15th tried to call and see what your status is?

Well I guess a primary care focus is out the door for this school.

Primary care is defined as IM, FM, OBGYN, peds

This does not account for further subspecialties

It's merely a way for schools to inflate their numbers

Uhh no names

So privacy is intact

Moreover those close enough to figuring who it is would most likely have heard the gossip already (small town)

If this individual is mad at reading this? I say stay mad and use this as bulletin board material to get the spot this person wants.

Our schools website contradicts your definition of primary care.
TCMC website said:
30% of students matched in primary care (pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine), 32% matched in a surgical field (ENT, ophthalmology, urology, orthopaedics, general surgery and preliminary surgery)

Per TCMC's definition, apparently the 7 of us in OB/GYN don't do primary care or surgery...

The people doing pre-cardiology and pre-gastroenterology (medicine) are primary care but people doing OB/GYN aren't.

The urologist handing out Viagra and checking prostates when he isn't doing TURPs is more of a surgeon than the gynecologist who is handing out OCPs and doing pelvic exams when not doing a hysterectomy.

Not to mention the guy doing a surgical prelim year +anesthesia is more of a surgeon than an aspiring gynecological oncologist by TCMC's "logic."

I interviewed two weeks ago. They told us April 5th is the next batch and then April 25th is the last batch. Seems very odd that we all got slightly different information!

I was accepted via e-mail this morning!!!!!!!! I definitely wasn't expecting to hear anything before the 5th, and I also wasn't expecting to be accepted. Big surprise, haha. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting; hope you hear good news soon.

Congrats! I was rejected via email this morning. Good luck to everyone!

Wow, I haven't heard anything today. Guess I'm still deferred? 🙁

Rejected flat out post interview. I thought it went well?

For those who received news today, can you please share when you interviewed? I'm surprised decisions came out before April 5th.. this must be the first post-interview rejections correct?

I`m tired from getting deferred letters every notification date. Why not just reject a person? Sorry for a rhetorical question, but I don`t know what they are looking for.

Sorry to hear that. Did you by any chance interview around the second week of January? I remember seeing a psychologist in my interview group, and I thought they seemed like a great candidate.

Anyone else not hear anything today?

I had an interview in the middle of October, so it must've been another person. Thanks anyway.

Interviewed late February. Deferred this morning. Seems like it will probably be a wait list after April 30th? Anyone want to speculate how much wait list movement there will be?

I interviewed in November and was notified this morning that I was deferred again. There was hardly any movement on the waitlist over the past two years, so I'm not expecting much this year either. Seems that I picked a "bad" time to apply to med school as they have been having the highest number of applications over the past few years across the board. When I went to the Open House a few weeks ago, TCMC had received over 5,000 applications this cycle. I have also been trying to figure out what they are looking for given I was waitlisted last year as well. The biggest focus is on working in a rural area. Their other big focus seems to be if you are from (and want to stay in) one of the regions they were set up to serve.

Deferred this morning. Interviewed March 18th.

I was deferred for a second time also. I've been accepted elsewhere so am going to withdraw. Good luck everyone!

Deferred again. Pretty sure once you're deferred you're either going to be rejected or wait listed; I haven't seen anyone accepted after being deferred.
