I was rejected too. 38 3.9, complete in mid-September. my mcat and gpa don't mean a thing just because I applied late. I have 6 interview invites, I interviewed at 2 places so far and both wait listed me. I think I might have to re-apply next year.

+1 totally know what you mean. My stats aren't quite as high as yours but I feel like applying late really killed my chances and I'm already considering my re-app

For those of you who have been waitlisted, there is hope! Pitt has a very dynamic waitlist, and you should definitely wait it out to see what happens. Most of our first year class were waitlistees (including myself), such that I didn't hear back til around March.

Will there still be a lot of waitlist movement even if this year is the first year they're switching to non-rolling? Or will be seeing something totally new in terms of acceptance patterns and waitlist movement such stuff?

We asked this on my interview day, the response was interesting. 1) they don't actually know. 2) there are two waitlist tiers. Tier 1 means you are much more likely to be reviewed for an acceptance. How this works in practice, nobody knows yet.

Anyone else get a card from PittMed for the holidays? I thought it was a nice little touch. I'm glad that I was aware of their rolling-admissions policy, otherwise I might have been really disappointed!

Nope [but I haven't checked my mail in a couple days]... if I end up not getting one, I can only assume it means that I'm rejected and those that get one are accepted. :meanie:

Yep, got one. Thought it was really nice. 🙂

Looks like I received a card afterall! Obviously everyone gets one then. :meanie:

I'm not surprised they are the only school that thought to send a card -- their interview package was really great compared to many of the other schools.

I did! I was so scared when I received it cuz there was no return address or anything. All it had was my address and a postage stamp from Pittsburgh. The size didn't seem like an acceptance package... I was going to faint thinking it was my rejection letter... Turns out to be just a nice holiday card. Sure gave me an heart attack though. lol

Anyone get an II lately? If so what date is UPitt booked up to? January is creeping up...and time is running out 🙁

I thought the christmas card was nice 🙂

I'm interviewing real soon, very excited!

I have no idea if II's are still being sent out or not, but apparently they've upped the # of interviewees per day from now until the end of the interview season. I think there were 14-15 today, when there's usually around 10. Hope that means good news for some of you still waiting!

It's going to be cold for my interview (high 20s to low 30s). Should I bring an overcoat to the interview or will my suit be sufficient do you guys think? I'm not worried about being cold, I just don't want to look unprepared.

No one is going to judge you for not bringing a coat. It all depends on what you're used to. I would bring a coat if I were you, though, because it always feels colder than the weather channel says. Oakland is also up on a hill, so the wind will make it colder. You'll be going outside for part of the tour also.

Interviewed here a while ago.

Its a pretty awesome place. I loved my interview there (was actually the high point of the day).
The students I was able to meet seemed pretty relaxed too. Liking this school more every day!

This wait...oh so painful.

If only they waited one more year before switching to the nonrolling approach. 😛

It's not much different from being waitlisted for months with everyone else. 75% of people interviewed were waitlisted and then would be accepted in big batches in winter/spring, except no one knew when those acceptances would happen. Just imagine you're all waitlisted right now and Jan 31 is a mass acceptance date! 🙂

Ha, yea, I suppose.

I would have embraced the october waitlist... It is the prospect of "January 31st = You are rejected" that get's me like this: :scared:

That feel...of having to wait 2+ months between scheduling and attending your interview :meanie:

I'm with you here. I loved Pittsburgh when I interviewed, I can only hope I have the opportunity to attend! Or go to second look and decide..

Just rejected. Can't say I'm surprised given Pitt usually invites for interviews within a week an I've been waiting over a month. Complete 10/17. Good luck to all the rest of you...it's a great school! Adios!

Bring a coat. It's cold here and you don't want to be miserable the whole day. Plus it rains and snows a lot, and you don't want to end up with a wrinkly suit from it getting wet and sitting on it! 😛

Pitt is a great school, and I would have loved to end up here. Best of luck to all of those still in the running. 🙂

Sorry to hear about the rejections. Hopefully you have better luck elsewhere!

And to those of you waiting to hear back post-interview, I feel ya. It's a long process and sometimes the wait sucks, but it all works out in the end. If you already have an acceptance somewhere, just try to relax. 😛

Man I love it up north. The cold is invigorating and girls look good in winter clothes 😎

Who knows, Pitt may still like to utilize it's wait-list this year :scared: . The only bright side, is that, at least when I interviewed, this year they'd give you an idea of where you sat on the waitlist with the tier system. And to be honest, if I'm not going to get in, I'd rather know NOW, not in next August.

Now... waiting for January 31st is killing me. I think my biggest fear is entering February on all waitlists, no acceptances. Rejections happen, waitlists... are sucky.

Welcome to October-March.

Here, we can see a person who clearly isn't in a really cold place or doesn't have a clue about how to dress for cold weather:

1. Lack of winter coat, esp. the waterproof variety; layering never makes up for a good coat
2. Leggings - actually make you colder
3. Ugg boots - not actually designed for slush or snow or water

This is a model of how many girls dress all winter long at my university.

'Tis always very cold and 'tis always slushy... Ergo we conclude that fashion statement/ego > comfort.

Wishing you health, peace, and joy
this holiday season and in the new year

Has anyone received a letter inviting you to apply for pstp? I don't know if this is another thing that everyone receives or if Pitt pre screens applicants for this invitation.

I got it. It said something like "Given you background and past interests.." so my guess is they screen at least a little bit? Maybe not, though I think the letter was hand signed 😀 I am certainly intrigued.

Yeah me too! I'm considering applying but wanted to see if they actually think I'm a strong candidate for the program...

For what it's worth, I did not receive a pstp invite last year. So my guess is that not everyone gets that letter; you guys were actually selected 😉
