^^^ Sure. I got a scholarship from Tech Lubbock. But still with the scholarship at lubbock (unless they would give me an insane amount of money), it will still be cheaper for me to go to UTSW due to responsibilities and so on. Besides I would have to physically be away from my kids and wife, unless she quits, but then the financial loss alone is greater than the scholarship. Not to mention the hassle of selling the house.
UTSW is 45 min away, and now I will even be able to commute via DART transportation (maybe 1h10 min each way with 15 min of walking). So despite the loss of time, I won't have to drive and will be able to use that time to do something (sleep, relax, listen to music, read...)
I am beyond thrilled.

I was interviewed but have yet to receive a pre-match offer from UTSW, and now I'm drafting up a LOI since I really was impressed with the school. Who should I send it to? (just the admissions office or more specifically mark it attention to a particular individual?). I tried to find a "dean of admissions" but could not.

Since interviews are still going, I am not sure how much info we can provide without being unethical. I know, it would be unethical for an applicant to try to contact an admission committee member (based on my past experience and attempts, so I was told).

However, I was told it was OK to contact Anne McLane, associate Director of Admissions. Let me tell you that she is extremely kind and very helpful. Personnally, and it is NOT an understatement, I owe my acceptance to her. I have been in contact with her for the past 2 or 3 years and she has always taken the time to answer my questions and provide me valuable info to act upon. I did as she said, and it paid off in the end. So look her up and email her. I don't know how busy she is right now, but it is likely that admission folks are overwhelmed. I can't guarantee she will get back. I always contacted her outside of the application season (past April and before Septembre).

Best of luck.

Got my package...

10K a year scholarship!!! 😀 I have no idea how I am going to turn this school down. I still have interviews at 2 and am waiting to hear back from another school that i have interviewed at that i have "above" of UT Southwestern, but i don't know how i would even attend unless they match Southwestern's offer. Is that possible? 😕

Enjoy...

probably not, but it doesn't hurt to try. go to the other interviews and rock them. if u get in somewhere u like better than southwestern then tell them they're your favorite but that money is a factor, and attach a copy of southwestern's scholarship offer. just be polite. worst case scenario, they tell you no they won't match it, you enroll at southwestern, and become a total friggin baller.

Are you OOS or in state? Is the scholarship you recieved the one they give to OOS students to match instate tuition?

Yup, my only prematch. Thanks a bunch! I'm still in shock of how unpredictable this process can be 🙂

Thanks  Good chance we will be classmates next fall!

Thanks, definitely still working on getting in at the other places! Do you have any experience doing this and if so, how did it work out? I think i'd feel a bit weird sending a school a scholarship offer from another school and asking them to match it, but i guess tha'ts really the only option.

I'm in-state.

did the scholarship info come with your acceptance letter with the form you fill out? or was it mailed separately?

My scholarship offer came with the acceptance letter, it was just a paragraph in the acceptance letter that mentioned it

It came with the form you have to fill out an return. Just an extra paragraph about the scholarship in the congratulations letter.

BTW, anyone is creating the fb page? I would do it if I didn't suck at fb!

Anyone interviewing after Nov. 15th heard back yet?? I'm very excited to hear back from UTSW and I've heard they can be as quick as a week in some cases!

Currently:
220 acceptances sent out
~40 acceptance offers still on the table (subject to change) to be sent out between now and the 3rd week of December

Thank you very much! And of those 40, do you have any indication as to how many are OOS offers? Sadly, I'm confined to that small, small category!

Absolutely no idea.

You guys are off in your own little tiny world, I'm afraid.

Praying for an interview. I called the school because I had some questions about the academic programs at UTSW and the admissions staff is one of the nicest in Texas

Haha... I was afraid of that... I'm worried the OOS thing is what's going to keep me from getting accepted. My numbers are above ave for UTSW, but I'm not sure where I stand with out of state numbers. From what I saw at my interview the 16th, this is pretty much the perfect school for me!

Dahh.. Only 40? Crossing my fingers that some of those will go to people interviewing this weekend! : )

These do not include acceptances to be sent during the match, so there is plenty of acceptances to come.

If you interviewed it means you have your chances. They would not interview anyone who cannot make the cut, let alone an OOS applicant. Relax and hope, you may very well have an acceptance coming your way. When is another issue.
Good luck

I'm sure they will! Keep in mind that there really aren't many interview dates between 11/15 and Christmas, so I'd say your chances are good!

Thanks for the pep talk! I appreciate it! I'm just very anxious to hear back from UTSW... I'm going to post a list of all excited emoticons if I get an acceptance lol

Not to sound negative or rain on anyone's parade, keep in mind I am in the same boat as many of yall waiting but, UTSW traditionally matches virtually no one...

They get a relatively big waitlist movement of 100-150 students beginning in late april according to last year's thread...

I would say our best chance at UTSW is pre-matching on Nov. 15, or coming off the waitlist which is actually more promising than it sounds...

Best of luck to all...

I would say a pretty substantial chunk of my class got in via waitlist (both OOS and IS).

All I can really recommend is to be prepared for anything, and have your FAFSA ready to go as soon as possible (so that if you do get in off the waitlist, there won't be too much delay in hearing about financial aid).

Thanks for all the help! Now, if you can just put in a good word for us and forward an acceptance letter....👍

Here is the inside scoop guys. Between now and the 3rd week of december there will be about 40 more acceptances handed out. And then after that there will be waitlist movement around April, may, june.

Also there will be at least 4 more interview weekends. One this weekend, another before Christmas and 2 more in January.

so the only thing we needed to mail into SW is the 1 page saying "I accept etc etc", and then sign it, right? Just wanting to make sure I didn't need to make a deposit or anything like that

This is right. I faxed mine ( you can do that for free using faxzero.com). They acknowledged receipt of my fax. My status says "accepted and deposited". No deposit required.

Sent from my crappy phone

I mailed mine on Monday, I hope they get it today or tomorrow. Did your status change on the mygateway?

Yes it did change in my gateway. Trusting the post office with this, I couldn't. I was planning to bring it in person. I know I don't need to now...

After the interview, does your status in the gateway remain "interviewed" or will it change to "accepted" or "waitlisted" after the committee has reviewed you post-interview??

I applied to Southwestern on the last possible day (September 30th) and just got an II today.

For people still curious about interview dates, my options were 12/8, 1/12, and 1/19

congrats 👍 i'm signed up for the 8th, which means it hasn't filled up yet. does anyone know, on average, how many people are interviewed per date?

Holy crap!!!! I just got an interview for 1/19. I saw the following dates available were 1/19 and 12/8. So I guess everyone else filled up 1/12. I am so grateful for the opportunity to interview here.

I feel the same way, they have moved toward the top of my list after further consideration of my prematches so I want to ensure it gets there.

II today at 6:45 pm! Complete 8/1/2012.
They gave me a specific date, 1/12/2013, so I guess all the other dates are already filled up?

If I'm interviewing this late, does this mean I'm just interviewing for the wait-list? Can anyone shed the light on this? I'm extremely ecstatic to get this opportunity nevertheless!

I'd like to know that too

Correction: The e-mail that I received gave me a specific date, 1/12/2013, but there were three options on the drop-down list that I could choose from: 12/8, 1/12, and 1/19. Although my "assigned" date is 1/12. I'm confused...

They give you the option to choose. As long as clinical round spots are still available on 12/8 then you can pick that one, or interview then and skip the clinical round thing on friday

Anyways Im interviewing here Saturday and Im so freaking excited. Im flying to Dallas tomorrow and I can't wait. I hope this goes extremely well.

You should have scanned it and keep a copy or even email it. Let's not be neurotic here. I am sure you did what you were supposed to. Just email admission with your possible confusion and stress that you have accepted their offer. At least you will have that on record.

First world problems.... Lol... Congrats on the acceptance!.. I'm losing my mind waiting on one! Unfortunately, I'm OOS and just interviewed the 16th! Anyone else from that interview date here back yet???
