It's based on years of history. They can pretty well predict what students will matriculate elsewhere and who "for sure" would not be competitive at their school. Remember, they are very conservative about how many acceptances they send out so they'd like a high percentage to matriculate.

Well now I'm going to be checking my email every five minutes...

Oh the agony. You'd think they would send all rejection emails at once. At least I'm hoping this is the case.

A friend of mine just got a rejection email also.

I'm sorry! Have you heard back anywhere else? I wish you the best of luck!

I'm on two wait lists, and I'm still waiting to hear back from another 3 secondary applications that haven't been reviewed yet, but I don't expect much if they haven't responded after all these months.

Stats, if anyone cares:
MCAT: 12/12/13/Q (37Q)
GPA: 3.67
U of U activity categories: slightly below average on 2, WAY above average on the other 3
Undergraduate: Electrical Engineering

So the question is, at what time should we feel safe from the wrath of the rejection email?

If they are sending the emails in alphabetical order they must almost be done because my last name starts with T. I got my email just before 2:30. Good luck to you all.

Rejected as well via email. OOS applicant interviewed in September.

Those of you who got rejections when did you interview?

Sorry to all who have been rejected, and best of luck to each of you with other schools. Getting one of those emails is never a good feeling. To everyone else that is still in the running, as I assume I am (haven't heard anything yet), best of luck to you all as well. It's been a long cycle and a pretty rough 6 months of waiting to hear anything (I interviewed early september) but we're about to get an answer. Soon I wont have to be thinking about it every waking second and that is a good feeling regardless of the outcome.

Agreed!

If anyone gets information on how they send out rejection emails (all at once or over a period of time) I would be interested in hearing it. It seems logical to send them all at once. In fact, I can't figure why they wouldn't. I ask b/c the pessimistic part of me feels I got rejected and I haven't received an email yet.

So now that it's beginning to look like those who have not received a call or an email are on the wait list, any ideas as to how long the wait list generally is, and how high you need to be on it in order to have a good chance?

I just called the admissions office...if you don't like working with your pre-med adviser, then you can email Dr. Chan for more information.

Just drop it with the facebook group. No one cares now at this point anyway.

what does that mean?

I just called them >.> and they said they are not done with the admissions process. Since they are now sending out rejection emails...this is the last process they have to do. 😴

Hi guys,
I just got off the phone with admissions and this is what I was told: They are done sending out rejection e-mails for today. They will continue with both rejections and wait-list until the end of the week. Acceptance phone calls are STILL being made possibly through Thursday! Good luck
Ps. cannot believe I caved and posted something

I will repeat one more time...

Jonny just settle down. Your comments are really disrespectful to others on the thread and to the Dean of admissions at the school you want to attend. "the amazing Chan of the Chan clan," what does that even mean? Give the man the respect he deserves regardless of weather or not you agree with the U's approach to admissions. Dean Chan is doing what he feels is the best way to go about the admissions process. So they do things differently at the U, you knew this going into the application process, so don't complain about it now. Sorry to call you out here, but I am just getting tired of reading such pessimism and disrespect while sifting through this thread trying to get some useful bits of information during what I think we can all agree is a pretty stressful time.

While agree that the pessimism isn't helping anything, we didn't know at the beginning that they would be making phone calls. What we knew at the time of interview was that they would be sending letters out at the end of March.

p.s. I interviewed in December for whoever that was that wanted to know when rejected people are interviewing.

p.p.s. why am i even visiting this thread anymore? 😛

For all that don't know there is an ignore list. Just click on the individuals name and simply add. I haven't read Johnny Quiznos comments for weeks.😀

Bravo.

Point blank is that most of us didn't get in. We don't have to reveal stats anymore as those that got rejected should not feel shamed. if we reveal when we interviewed and our stats, those that are still in the clearing for wait-list/acceptance/rejection would think "Geez, I'm glad I wasn't that person." Pessimism is in the air for many right now and I don't think it is right for ya to call me out >.>. Also, with the last person that highlighted bolded statement, we did not know that there were going to be emails and/or phone calls and/or a third interview. The standard process was two separate interviews and now they tacked on a third interview and now they are thinking about doing MMI. Point is, the admissions process is over and the good information has to end. Its time to start for a new cycle anyway. So ya, if you don't like what I have to say, you can just kiss my grits.

Your terrible attitude is rivaled only by your terrible grammar. Please just wait calmly for the outcome.

Thanks Johnny is now ignored

I am just curious. . . who has not received an acceptance call or a rejection email?
