Any Idaho invites for March yet?

"I am highly interested in primary care service to rural communities in the Northwest AND performing cutting-edge biomedical research AND international relief trips to Africa" ...wtf, mate.

I'm guessing that's a quote from your app? All I can say is if you're sincere, it will come through in your interview. I think yours is today or very soon? Best wishes!

Not a quote from my application haha. I'm not that stellar. I was just playing on the fact that people tend to tell the interviews what they 'think' they want to hear. I bet they can spot a brown-noser from miles....as always, your future desire must be in line with your past experiences. Otherwise it's just hot air.

Yes I just got back from my interview...I had a great time. One of my fellow interviewees was an old friend from high school so it was nice to catch up. I was expecting so much more in terms of stress, ethical dilemmas, and role-play "intensity." It wasn't...at all. I left the room with a big grin on my face that I couldn't get off. We'll see though. There were strong applicants but some were also quirky (one had a piercing on the top of his ear) 😕. There was a very diverse crowd. Applicants with families, some younger and still in school, some from here, from there, many from BSU. All very nice. Extremely diverse applicant pool so who knows what the incoming Idaho WWAMI will look like.

Hey thank you, and good luck!! How did your interview go?

Is that so terribly odd??? I ask because I have three upper ear piercings and have been going back and forth about taking them out for interviews since I first started applying. They're pretty inconspicuous most of the time as I wear plain small gauge rings in them and my hair's curly enough it partially covers them even when it's pulled back in a bun as it will be in an interview.

On the one hand, they're somewhat unprofessional if you go by the old-school guidelines. On the other, I haven't taken them out since I got them (5 years ago) and having them out would likely be distracting (are the holes closing? will I ever get them back in again?...). Then again, having them in will probably also be distracting now that I've started worrying about them... 🙁

Thoughts?

I have an industrial piercing. I definitely take that out for interviews, but it's a 2-inch piece of steel. A few small rings that are probably covered by your hair seem like they might be ok.

Well I think that if you are a female and they look presentable and not punk rock, super huge metal ring hanging off your ear (like this guy), it would be completely acceptable. In fact, I like them on girls. But the ring, combined with a stand-offish, quite, awkward personality just resulted in weirdness. So no judgement here, just not if you are a guy. These are doctors evaluating you. Can you picture getting diagnosed by a doc with large gauge ring on his ear? Not me, and I'm pretty open-minded.👍

My interview was definitely more intense than it sounds like yours was, lucky you! 🙂
But yeah, I was expecting a lot more probing about interest in primary care/rural medicine and it didn't come up at all. Not sure if this is because my application was more research heavy or I just got lucky, who knows. 😕

You want these people to feel comfortable with you potentially operating on/treating one of their family members someday, so when in doubt, be as conservative as possible. In this case I'd say take out your piercings just to be on the safe side. It really shouldn't matter, but were I in your shoes I wouldn't want to risk it.

My interview experience falls pretty well in line with yours. At the other 2 I've been to I had one interviewer who seemed to somewhat intentionally get slightly confrontational with me (I'm guessing just to see how I would handle it). There was absolutely no confrontation in this one, even with the role play. So, definitely less stressful than anticipated. I just never really know how to feel overall though. I guess we will see (and hopefully before the end of March!)

The wait to March is going to be intense. This school has been my dream for some time now. And this entire process has made me want it even more! So I'm going to try to stay as busy as possible to get it off my mind and every time my phone beeps for an email, brace myself 😱:scared:

Missed a call from the Seattle VA yesterday.....where Le EXCOM works......motherofgod....could it be??

I wonder if your ExCom is the same guy who interviewed someone from earlier. I think he also worked at the VA.

I won't jinx it for ya, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 🙂

So, because you're not a TRUST applicant, you have to wait until March to hear anything for sure?

Eeeee pre-emptive congrats!

I was kind of thinking I would get either a call or a second SUC email today since it's been 4 weeks, but nothing.

Does anyone know whether all the people under consideration have a similar probability of getting in, or is the ratio of SUC:eventual acceptance different for OOR folks? Is it still an uphill climb compared to in-state? I'm still feeling like an idiot for being OOS for my own home state.

Did SUC go out today? My phone had been dead all day (and I am kicking myself for that now). I didn't get an email saying accepted, rejected or SUC. Either I missed their call or emails are going out later. I am nervously awaiting either.

I send in an update on Monday, so hopefully they saw it before voting.

I got nothing. I also sent an update at the beginning of the week. I guess now there really is nothing to do but wait. And possibly plan to move to Wisconsin in my case.

Well, I am planning on moving to Virginia if I don't get in state love.

I don't know how TRUST works, but there is one big Idaho voting that happens after the second set of Idaho interviews in March after everybody has interviewed. Basically, in my case, my ex comm member will present me and everything that I have shown them to the entire committee and then in a democratic manner, I need a majority vote to get that acceptance. I'm pretty sure that is exactly how it works for everybody.

Also, I mentioned this earlier in the cycle, but this year there may be an increase in the Idaho seats from 20 --> 25. Mr. Otter himself has mentioned the WWAMI this year and they are presenting their plan to increase the seats this month.

I had heard that there was talk about increasing the number of seats. That would be awesome and impressive.
That is a considerable wait...I thought they let some people know before then, but either way, good luck and hang in there!

Does anyone know when they are planning to let the Idaho TRUST applicants know a decision? Is it before March or the same time as the regular applicant pool. Thanks!

Did anyone else get accepted? Or has anyone received the SUC email? I haven't heard anything...

I thought I heard that there was an EXCOM meeting yesterday and I was assuming they'd make a decision on TRUST apps, but I haven't heard anything either...

Thanks Razor. Hopefully we find something out soon! If I hear anything I will be sure to post.

Accepted via phone call from interviewer! Washington resident, SUC x3

Congratulations to you! I thought I missed a call from my ExCom member but that was Thursday and its been radio silence ever since. Le sigh. Heartbreak. I guess that is what I get for jumping the gun. :/

Thank you! I hope you hear good news as well. I haven't received the official email yet so there's still hope!

Still have not received a phone call or email about acceptance, rejection or SUC. Did they just forget about me?

I have to ask: what does SUC stand for (if it stands for anything)?

"Still under consideration." It's a status email that a lot of folks get post-interview.

I'm still in limbo also. I wonder if we have the same EXCOM rep.

PM me the EXCOM name or description.

And SUC means "Still Under Consideration"

Way easier to write SUC. Plus, it's sucks to be SUC. That's why I like to write it.

Thanks guys. I interviewed in late October. Don't worry if you haven't heard anything yet, since I'm still waiting for the acceptance email too.

For all the other Alaskan folks, I received my invitation to interview Jan. 9. Interviewing on Feb. 4!

Yeah, if your Excom doesn't feel like it you won't get the pre-email phone call; I didn't. Wonder when the emails go out?

I got a phone call from an unknown number yesterday. My heart skipped a beat.. only to find out it was my landlord.

Every e-mail notification makes me anxious.

Just give me a call already!

II 01/15/13. Complete 11/28/12. I thought this wasn't going to happen. I am so excited right now, this school has been one of my favorites!

Good luck to everyone else still in the running! Don't give up hope!

I ended up calling admissions this morning about the emails, asking when will they will be sent out with our status. The school has been quick with the notification before this, so that is why I was curious. Nobody answered the phone and I left the question as a message. I haven't gotten a response yet. If they end up calling, I will post the answer here.

Hello all,

I decided to be the squeaky wheel like BABStudent and got through to admissions. They informed me that status emails should be going out "within the next week".

Anybody still waiting for initial action on their secondary? Seems like everybody here has already interviewed or at least has an invite. Am I the only dumb folk representin'?
