I got my primary app verified on Oct 22 and received an email from UW saying that they received it in late October. However, I have not heard anything from them about secondary app. Do you guys think this is a silent rejection?

I waited for about a month and a half before I got my secondary. Just wait a bit, it's the holiday season.

Hello future UW students!!!

If you're panicking about not hearing back yet, please don't worry. UW has accepted less than a quarter of next years class as of this week, and interviewed only a fraction of the total applicants. Still plenty of spots and lots of time left!. However there are a record number of applicants this year. Therefore the class is likely to be extraordinarily competitive.

I'm a currently a medical student at the dub, and I'm absolutely, positively in love with this school. It has everything a top-ranked medical school should --- supportive administration, wonderful classmates and excellent teachers. What you ask, makes UW unique from other top-rated medical schools? My personal thoughts are its patient-centered mission, large regional territory and genuinely nice (read: non-gunner) student population.

If any of you have questions I would be willing to answer a few of them when I take breaks from studying for finals.

Much love, ask away and good luck.

Just got an II from UW...Idaho Resident and first time applicant.
Total underdog applicant in regards to statistics...but have a unique non trad story and solid EC'S.

MCAT:27
Cum gpa 3.68
BCPM GPA:3.57
So if you havent heard back from this school keep your hopes up!!!!!!

Congrats fellow Idahoan! Maybe I'll be seeing you at the interview, whenever it may be.

Less than two months until the Alaska WWAMI interviews. I'm starting to get nervous. I want so badly to get in here.

Yeah all this waiting with brief periods of action reminds me of dating.

Also, today I received my Idaho interview date. I am interviewing January 9th at 2pm. The day's program is laid out as well: Some people have morning interviews, then one big group presentation at 11am, then catered lunch at noon, then more afternoon interviews. Very excited!

I received my Idaho confirmation today as well. Same interview time in fact. Good luck and see you there.

Go with the grey...especially if it is your lucky suit!

Anybody got the inside scoop on the date for the next Excom meeting?

Just received my acceptance to this amazing school! Totally beside myself.

Awesome!!!! I've been rooting for you! Did you hear via email, or phone call, also was it today you heard, and lastly when was your interview?

Congrats! Your MDapps says you interviewed 11/29? That's when I re-interviewed :scared::scared::scared:

Did they really call on Saturday?

Really? Were you also interviewed in the morning? If so I remember you interviewed around 9. I was an 8 o'clocker. They did call on a Sat, which really surprised me. Although, to their credit, they did call me first on Fri but no sound was coming out of my phone! So of course I was freaking out when I couldn't answer a call from the Seattle area. I fixed my phone this morning and luckily enough they called me back.

Sent from my HTC One V using SDN Mobile

I'm applying instate as an Eastern Washington resident. I've gotten an unscheduled interview invite way back in September. It's now December, and I haven't heard a word. The website says that Eastern Washington regional interviews are in February. Does that mean I'll hear back closer to the interview date next year? Do you think I should call the admissions office just in case they forgot about me? xD

I'm not overly concerned atm because I have already been accepted to medical school this cycle, but UW is a great medical school so I may want to give it a shot here.

I'm in a similar position (interviewing for the TRUST program in Feb in Spokane) and haven't heard a date yet either. In fact, I don't think they've sent out any dates for that yet. From last year's thread, it looks as though we may have to wait till late Dec or early Jan to get a date. That said, If you do call to check when we might hear from them, could you post what they say?

Nope, mine was at 1pm or so. And since it was a re-interview I just drove up (3 hour drive) for the interview and went back home afterward, so I only met a couple of the 11/29 interviewees. I wasn't expecting to hear anything until around the 20th, so I am going to try & keep my cool until then.

All things considered, this is the top choice of the 3 schools I'm in the running for right now & the only one that lets me stay in the west...nervous!

Congrats ocimy! As a re-applicant I have been rooting for you too! Do you remember who your EXCOM member was?

Yeah I was Wednesday before you. Process seems so varied some people here via phone before excom meetings, some by phone after and one kid only by email he says!

Just interviewed last Monday, they say they'll let us know in about 3 weeks. I'm guessing that's the next Excom meeting.

I am pretty sure that 3 weeks is the figure they give to pretty much everybody, so I assume the committee meets more than once every 3 weeks. Or here's to hoping!

Interviewed 11/26 in Seattle with no news yet...I was also told 3 weeks...

C'monnnn! :xf:

I'm getting all kinda of nerves about my upcoming interview. Any advice from veterans out there??

Just be yourself and have a good time, everybody at UW is super nice. Honestly the panel was also much less intimidating than I expected it to be.

Just make sure to think things through...don't make rash statements. Take your time, take deep breaths, and ask questions about the questions, especially in the role play. Think logically and always, always take the interests of the patient first.

Ditto; especially the part of taking the interests of the patient first during the role play.

thanks all for your advice!

Also, if you haven't yet, take a look at the medical ethics page that's posted on the UWSOM site. Some of that information helped tremendously with the ethical role play.

weekend crash course in bioethics coming up!

it really shouldn't be a crash course for me since i've taken 2 bioethics courses...but i sure seem to have forgotten a lot of it!

My roleplay involved dealing with another physician, not a patient, so be prepared for that as well!

Just got a still under consideration email. So very happy to still have a chance, but really want an acceptance. Got the same email a few weeks ago and interviewed early November! Good luck to everyone else!

I interviewed 11/1 and then got pulled back 11/29 for a re-interview. Just got the "under consideration" email also. I'm crossing my fingers since they said ~30% of people on hold get accepted eventually, but it's still feels like bummer city.

Just got my 2nd SUC letter here as well! Cortisol levels are through the roof but also feeling very thankful and thrilled to still be in the running.

They said last year 46% of those initially still under consideration were eventually accepted.

Got letter for still under consideration. Glad it's not a rejection. I interviewed this past Monday.

This is so frustrating. Still under consideration. Make a decision already!

I was contacted for a second interview today. I initially interviewed on 10/19, received 3 SUC emails prior to today. At least it is just a short drive for me.

Just received an interview yesterday, not sure why or how Haha but I'll take it. the interview itself sounds like high stress from what I've read, so that'll be fun...

I interviewed fairly recently & in the "under consideration" email they ask for updated grades & activities since the interview. I have new grades now, but should I wait to send an update since my interview was only a couple weeks ago? I was just offered a job last week, but other than that I don't know that anything else will come up for me to send them in the near future.

Accepted yesterday! OOR non-trad applicant with avg stats, but good amount of community service/research experience. Super hyped on UW. Best of luck to all of you!

I was in your shoes a bit earlier. I spoke to a fourth year and he recommended I hold off until January to send any updates. My main concern with that was, what if they reject me before then?! I would send the updates rather than wait until it is too late... but that's just me.

Does anyone know when M1 starts? If I get accepted I am trying to figure out if it's feasible to do the Wonderland Trail around Rainier before school starts. It sounds like it's best to wait until August or so to be clear of the rainy/snowy season, but a lot of med schools start in August.
