Well it shows up on my secondary as "Not Applicable" and the places I lived has just been one town in Washington my whole life so the portion of the application where I list cities was pretty simple. I am completely submitted and the check is on the way to them now.

That might be verification enough then.

Got MD rejected today as well. Cali resident but still applying MD/PhD.

The letter said "hey your OOS... Bye for MD only" lol. MD/PhD is national so should be fine 🙂.

So, I'm guessing all the people who got notifications of rejection today were MD/PhD? I got the initial letter saying they've received my primary app, and that's it.

Just got the secondary invite this morning. Good luck to everyone, including you Cali MSTP applicants!

I got the secondary. WA resident. My stats make me a huge underdog for UW, but I'm going to do everything in my power to try and get in. UW is my top choice. Go dawgs!

I am an Oregon resident...but in AMCAS, there on questions on where you were born (Spokane, WA) and where you spent most of your life up to 18 (Vancouver, WA)...think they give any weight to that, or am I just as OOS as someone that's never seen the west coast?

Seriously, I hope Oregonians get some love from UW as I know OHSU shows some serious love for Washington residents.

Is anyone else having troubles logging in right now? I had the application almost complete and decided to take the weekend off. I tried to log in and I get the message "Information for ID not found (ARWARN 426770)"

What!?!?!?!

Edit:
Finally logged in. I realized I was using the wrong username. I was using my first letter of my first and last name, and not the first two of the last name. Dangit! I even emailed them about it too.

Got a secondary from here this morning! So excited 🙂

OOS resident, applying MD only, stats are decent but not amazing. I do have a strong background working for underserved communities though.

Jealous!!

I just got the "initial letter" email saying they got my AMCAS app this morning so hopefully I get a nice reviewer and get a secondary invite!

For MD/PhD applicants: how are you guys planning to supplement your research experiences in the "preliminary secondary"? I was planning to update the experience I'm currently involved in, but for the others, since nothing has changed, is it sufficient to just copy/paste from AMCAS?

got secondary a few minutes ago--good luck everyone! I'm surprised this thread has been blowing up....this school is fantastic!

Any Idaho applicants know how long it took to get their residency status verified after submitting the form? With the essays and the supplemental forms for the residency form, this is taking quite some time.

Forgot to post this, but I was complete at UW three days ago. Hopefully I will be in the first batch of interviews. This is my number 1 school. I would love to be at the WSU/UI campus for the first year

Not long as I recall from last year. No longer than 2 weeks. This early in the cycle should be fairly quick

I have no recieved the secondary yet. when does it come out for people not in the washington/idaho/montana region?

UW is not nice to OOS people. They will review your application first. If they believe you will work in underserved locations, then they might send you a secondary.

For all of the OOS'ers...good luck. I imagine a fair number of those lurking on the UWash page to be from the UW. If you guys want my perspective on the process, the school, and whatnot, feel free to PM me. I graduated from UW myself for UG, but I wasn't accepted to the UW program, however I quickly found out that it wasn't my top choice school post interview. I'm working at a UW hospital at the moment, and have had a fair chance to speak with PLENTY of rotating M4s in my dept and those with perspective on the program as well. So say what you'd like to that, but lemme know if you have any questions. I won't be checking this thread much, so PMs are preferred. I'd be happy to share my perspective on it.

The one-liner though: Be careful on what you think to be your "top choice school," and I'd recommend staying away from Seattle for your first year site, as counter-intuitive as it may sound.

Haha you can't just say something like that and not back it up, that's just poor form.

Is anyone having difficulty paying the fee to the application?

UW doesn't do electronic fees, so I believe you'll have to mail a check/money order in. They give you an address on the secondary website.

Ugh. Now I feel stupid. Thanks dude(tte).

I noticed something: MSAR says 45% of the first year class are OOS, but USNews says 89% of students are in-state. Anyone have an explanation for this?

MSAR also says: "Residents of WA, WY, AK, MT, and ID are considered 'in-state.'" So that's not the explanation.

This cannot be accurate. From the WAMI states (WA not included) alone there are 80 matriculants which constitutes 40% of seats. That's not yet accounting for Washington residents.

WY = 20 seats
AK = 20 seats
MT = 20 seats
ID = 20 seats

Total 80 seats

I believe WA is about 60-90 seats, but I am not sure. It could be more than that or less, this is just my estimate.

My low ball estimate is 63% if including surrounding states (60+80=140 140/219= 63%)
My high ball estimate is 78% if including surrounding states (90+80=170 170/219=78%)

Anyone know the actual data for acceptance from WA residents?

Acceptance rates for 2012 matriculants (from the Dean's office):
WA 18%, WY 40%, AK 38%, MT 18%, ID 15%, OOR 0.6%.

As far as # of accepted students from WA, I'm not sure but 60-90 sounds accurate.

Woke up to an OOR rejection! I got an e-mail. 😀

I was officially complete today at UW! 🙂

OOR applicant so we'll see if they love me enough for an interview.

I complete the application at the beginning of last week when they received my check. However, I have gotten an email saying I am complete. Possibly because they haven't received my second MCAT score (comes out on Tuesday).

I really dislike that there isn't a final submit button that you can click to know that you are actually complete.

Damn, they denied one of my strong letter writer's letter because she didn't submit on official letter head and didn't sign.

Hopefully this won't delay my processing.

I didn't receive an email either but when I checked my application status online it said

"Your application is complete and will now be reviewed to determine your relative competitiveness for an interview."

Yours probably doesn't say that yet because of that MCAT like you said. Good luck!

Got an OOR rejection email today. 39Q, cGPA 3.89, sGPA 4.0.

To my shock and delight, received MD secondary despite being OOR. Yes, I have extensive experience working with underserved and I am earning my graduate degree at UCSF. My advice would be if you are passionate about devoting your life to working in an underserved community, be sure to articulate that passion and back it up with solid experiences in your personal statement.

I am interested in the TRUST program, but am wondering if it's more competitive than just applying under the regular MD program. I am kind of an underdog and want to do everything I can to get in to UWSOM. Does anyone know if TRUST is more competitive to get into due to the limited spots?

Have any Washington residents out there gotten a secondary yet?

6/28. But UW seems to just do some of these things slowly so if you're a WA resident I wouldn't sweat it too much yet. You'll probably be getting it sometime soon.

OOR Interview Invite...no date yet...3.72scic/umGPA 29 MCAT (7 VR). Lots of underserved stuff.

Seriously, I don't understand why more people aren't as stoked as I am about this school!

I would be stoked if I would get a secondary invite. I'm OOS though, so I'm still just waiting for their rejection email 🙁

Was expecting to get rejected, but got a secondary today with low stats and OOR.

You got an interview invite already?!?!?!

My understanding from reading the secondary and the UWs TRUST website is that TRUST is a pool within the application pool. TRUST is going to be competitive because it has limited slots, but not everyone applies, so I can't tell you how big the pool is compared to the number of slots. Your application for will be considered for regular MD admittance as well as for TRUST however.

Gee whiz, sounds like a way to up my chances because now I get two considerations from two committees! And if I don't get TRUST I can still get into UW and vice versa! The one small caveat to remember is that in the fine print, UW tells you that if you apply to the TRUST program, are accepted, and choose not to participate, you forfeit your slot at the school for the upcoming year and must reapply. So don't apply unless it's something you really want to do. There's a different third and fourth year rotation schedule, press for certain specialties, etc. Not to scare anyone off (I'm applying for it), but just saying since it took forever to find any information I feel like.

Hey all, by the way. Washington state resident here. Low-middle end of average cGPA, 26R MCAT (Yeah, screw you too physics; my 11V and 9B don't much care for you either buddy), 200+ shadowing hours, 125+ volunteer hours that were medical, 100+ hours that were non-medical, leadership associated stuff 15+ hours a week for going on four years... Hopefully the other stuff can make up for the low screening stats.

I'm thankful that they automatically review any WWAMI resident's complete file instead of just kicking you to the curb for slightly subpar stats. Talking to Stella (dean or director of admissions) at a tour/lecture she gave to about 50 students from my school in January when we visited, the procedure is for ADCOM to automatically send in-state/in-region applicants a secondary if they're over a 20 MCAT and 2.5 GPA in all areas (crazy generous I think), then will review the complete file, focusing on any upward trends in grades if you're low or reasons for poor performance. Come interview time, there are apparently three physicians, one of whom has access to your full file and test scores, while the other two aren't permitted to see your GPA/scores so they can make an 'unbiased' decision. Not sure how true this all is (just seems to good to hope for), but like I said, Stella is pretty high up in admissions and it was a bona fide tour. Maybe the underdogs have a shot after all!

Anyone else really hating the 'where do you see your personal and professional life intersecting 10 years from now' question? I feel like I could dig up one of those kid's decoder rings from a cereal box to use and have better luck writing a decent response.

From my knowledge, all of this stuff is correct. I have a lot of respect for the way UW does things regarding primaries and secondaries and such. I hear those interviews are way too intense, though.
