YES! I just got a secondary! Out of Region with >3.5, >35. Initial letter came 7/19

As of today: "A status update will be mailed to the address provided on your MSTP application."

Anyone else get this, or get something in the mail?

Sorry to say, it might be bad news then 🙁. Don't know why they would be mailing you the letter though.
Yeah. I don't know why they'd email rejections to MD folk and send them for the MSTP, but I can't think they'd be mailing anything good.

Rejection notice in mail. Guess it's nice they'd spend a few cents mailing it.

Rejected 🙁 Semi-expected as an OOR applicant though. Truthfully, I'm just glad that if they were going to reject me, it was before I had to complete the secondary!

Just received the interview invitation email!!!! I'm SOO excited 🙂🙂🙂

OOR applicant and I'm amazed at even getting a chance to interview at this amazing school.

Good luck to everyone!

Interview invite this afternoon!

Washington resident
Complete 8/3

Good luck everyone!

What kind of experience did you have, and do people generally have, in working with underserved populations? I'm trying to figure out what to do and could really just some suggestions! Thanks.

Received Interview invite today! Idaho resident. So excited! 🙂

Same here! Doesn't look like my interview will be until March. Plenty of time to work on those interview skills I guess.

Rock on. Congrats you two. I am just waiting on Idaho residency verification and one last letter of rec.

March seems late. Did you request Seattle or Boise? I believe the Boise interview was in January last year.

Boise interviews are Jan7-Jan14 this year. The Seattle interviews are in March

How late is it now to submit the primary application as an OOS?

I would say it is fine. Better today than in a month.

Got it. Does anyone know if we have to put information for our evaluators in the AMCAS application or is it just the secondary (if it comes to that)?

Both primary and secondary.

First AMCAS under Letters of Evaluation, then go to your Medical Schools and add/designate each letter to the schools. (Just check all for each school)

Then in the UWSOM secondary write out each letter that will be sent and also additional letters beyond 3.

Then you should be good. Don't forget to consider the time lag between UWSOM downloading/receiving letters from AMCAS. I've heard it can take up to six weeks

Interview invite this morning! As a California resident, I'm excited!

Way to go!

Did they give you an actual date or just the whole we tend to interview OOR applicants in ____.

Finally complete! It took five weeks for my residency verification to be processed.

I'm an OOR applicant with strong ties to the state. I haven't received a secondary, and no word on rejection pre-secondary. They confirmed my AMCAS 8/7/2012. Is there any way to let them know my particular interest in UW/ties to WA state?

I've been wondering how long it's going to take for my verification to come through. Four weeks and counting!

They ought to have the committees up and rolling by now, so it ought to be soon. The first eligibility committee meeting for Alaska residents was in mid-August.

I got my initial letter on 7/30 and still no secondary invite. I'm starting to feel a little doubtful on this one.

No actual date. They just said this:

Your application has passed through this screening and the Committee on Admissions would like to invite you to interview.

You can expect a future invitation to interview with your precise date and time of your interview appointment as well as additional information on the interview day schedule. Currently, we are working to solidify the schedule and our office will follow up with you via e-mail as soon as possible with your interview date.

The schedule says sometime between October 1 and March 15.

EDIT: Congrats on your interview invite as well!

Interview INVITE!!! This is my top choice! Excelsior!

I really dig UW and their mission. But. No secondary. OOR. I've lost hope. Are they rejecting pre-secondary regular MD applicants yet?

Any in-state applicants still waiting for an II? I guess it's still early...but still....

Thanks for the info, its so early in this long process I should probably stop worrying/hoping so much. I wish being a PNW native counted as in-region!

WA resident needing help.

Already submitted secondary, but won't technically be complete until I send in the WA state verification questionnaire form. I have all the additional paper work (i.e. vehicle registration form, proof of bank account, WA drivers license, etc) except for my voter registration card.

My question is whether my paper work will be considered incomplete without a copy of my voter's registration card, or can I simply send in all the rest of the paper work and hope that my residency is verified?

Rejected today
In state
33R
3.68 overall GPA
3.97 science GPA

Interview Invite!! (No Date Yet) Complete 7/17, in-state, 34Q, 3.62c, 3.81s, awesome ec's.

Congrats on the II's!

You should be fine, I submitted mine without my registration. But beware, the residency verification office will take a while.

I don't think not having a voter registration card will matter. I imagine not every applicant is a registered voter and may not have one.

In the state questionnaire, are we supposed to just wikipedia the populations of the places we've lived? My family moved a lot during my childhood, but I mostly grew up in Vancouver, WA, a city whose population has changed a lot over the last couple decades.

That's all I did.

If you want to be super exact:
http://2010.census.gov/2010census/

But I think wikipedia will be fine. It isn't like this is a major portion of your application. You will not lose an acceptance because you listed your town's population as 50 more than it should have been.

!!

Strong GPA & MCAT....any possible ideas at why you didn't get an interview??
I can't say for sure, but I've asked them for feedback. I'm a relatively older (33) non-trad with 10 years of (nonmedical) business experience and 6 years in a management role. I have unusual ECs, about 100 hours of shadowing, but almost no volunteering and zero research.

Thx for the reply. I ended up sending state verification without my voter's card. Contacted UW and they said if you don't have a voter's card you could print off your voting history through MyVote by searching access washington, myvote.
