Yes. I'm sure "pattawan" would be included. I am getting a VERY early start to preparing for medical school. I won't be applying until 2015. I know this has no place in an ultimate score, but I took the practice MCAT (test 3) and scored 7b/5p/6r with no studying or physics/OChem experience. I'm gonna be all up on this until that MCAT test day. Lol.

Stop doing practice tests until you are ready for them. You wasted one of the rarest practice tests. That was a true MCAT given in the past that has been retired. Every other practice test tries to emulate that.

Do rejections go out via email or hard copy?

Email.

You can take that practice test as many times as you want.

Yep. But taking it the second time (even months later) you will remember stuff. You grade will be artificially high. It will not be an accurate representation of your skills and knowledge.

Does anyone else feel like the next few weeks are going to be torture? I looked back to last year's thread and the final EXCOM meeting was on the 21st.

My final med school interview is on the 22nd. That would be pretty great if UW shot me an acceptance the day before!

I am alternate listed for Alaska WWAMI. I of course check the alternate list four times a week (even though that's silly) but I am curious how they pick alternates for Montana if they have an un-ranked alternate list.

just a miscellaneous question to take my mind off the waiting 👍

When were you notified about being on the alternate list?

Dare I ask what happened to MedPR?:scared:

Dear MT WWAMI,

I know you made up your mind on Friday. Just tell me if I'm waitlisted or rejected already, you bunch of cotton-headed ninny mugginses.

Seriously... If they're going to shatter my dreams just get it over with.

OP, I believe a better thread for this discussion is here.

I'm not trying to be a dick it's just that this thread is for those of us applying in the current cycle. Do not be afraid to explore those threads because there are TONS of helpful people that check them quite regularly to answer questions, offer advice, etc.

Best of luck on your journey!

they told me in the middle of february. we interviewed the 4-7 of february. friday the 8th they made their decisions. found out via email on monday the 11th.

Good Luck to everyone in Idaho who is about to hear back. I think they start letting people know the 8th right?

I'm one of the applicants who got an SUC last week. I haven't really added any new activities since my interview in February and am out of school, so obviously have no grades to report. Do you guys think it's necessary to send an update letter? Would it look like I'm not interested if I don't?

What would look worse, sending an update letter that included nothing or just not sending anything? Personally, I wouldn't send an update and waste their time. However, if you really feel the need to send something, you might reiterate the main points of why UW is perfect and how you fit the school mission.

I interviewed on 2/13 but haven't heard anything yet. Today I got a certiphi screening request. I am waiting to hear from 3 schools, so one of them most have requested this. Did anyone else get the background check request without any acceptance/waitlist info?

It is my understanding that only accepted students get it. It couldn't be from UW because they don't vote until sometime between the 15th and 31st. Maybe call the other schools and find out your status. I would tell them you got a certiphi screening request without an acceptance and were curious about your status.

Ok, thanks! I was wondering if maybe they decided early about the wait list and sent them to those people, or something. I guess I will call around.

Well, you never said what state you were from so I am assuming you are from WA or OOR. If that is true, then they won't vote until the 15th to the 31st. It says so on their website.

If you are from a WWAMI state other than WA, you might have gotten an acceptance since they vote at different times.

For those interested in the second look event: I emailed UW and got a response from UWSOM's Center for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) confirming that it is planned for April 5-6.

Schedule for Second Look Event:

- Afternoon: 'Meet n Greet' w/ deans and support staff
- Evening: Reception dinner & Physician panel discussion facilitated by students

April 6th:

Is this OOR specific?

Not sure. In my email I told them I was OOR, but either way - this is the only second look they have planned so I assume anyone is invited.

Have any acceptees received an invite yet?

Mystery solved. Another school was a bit slow with their emails. Thank you for helping me through the suspense!

Does anyone know how many spots are left? I am surprised that no one got in from WA the last month.

Idaho applicant just got the phone call for acceptance!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 interviewed 3/5

That's awesome, congratulations! Did you get an email or status change as well? I'm out of the country currently so I'm not carrying a phone, and just wondering if I would hear about the decision via email or otherwise.

So, for folks already at the school, I have a financial aid question. The website says that financial aid cannot be used to pay down credit cards, but can they really enforce that? I can't imagine that they monitor where you put all of your living expenses if you take out more than you absolutely need to get by.

I ask because I have a lot of things I've been putting off because I'm a broke undergrad - my computer either needs a $300 repair or needs to be replaced, for example. I'm saving my income from work for move-in expenses if I have to relocate, so I don't really have disposable income right now. If I put something like $2000 on a credit card in the next 6 months they can't tell me to keep that on my card for the next 4 years, right?

I know plenty of people who have used their student loans in med. school to pay off a credit card, and I fully intend to! I think what they mean by that is that you can't say, "I need to borrow an extra $2000, because I have this credit card..." Where as you can borrow extra for a new computer, health insurance, child care expenses, etc.

They have not sent me an email yet and my status on my portal has not changed. But maybe that could change since I only found out Friday afternoon. I feel like they would send you an email if they couldn't get a hold of you, but I can see why you would be stressed! Good luck!

Question, does anyone know of a Facebook page that has been started for this class of 2017? Thanks.

Accepted today. Idaho applicant.

Idaho applicant just got the phone call for acceptance!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 interviewed 3/5

Congratulations you two! No phone call here 👎....looks like I'll have to find a way to try again next year. But I have still no email and I'm just waiting for fate at this point.

Could you guys help us Idahoans out and let us know your GPA and MCAT? Just to see how we fared. Thanks. Enjoy the WWAMI and Moscow!

Don't give up hope! There is always the waitlist that you could get in with.

Sure. GPA: 3.65, MCAT: >28, lots of life experience, both medical and volunteer. Good luck everyone.

Has anyone else checked the new ranking of UW? It dropped in research out of the top 10 and is no longer number 1 in primary care. They had it for 19 years straight!

😕

I wonder what UW will do in the next year to change that.

Well if you haven't heard anything yet, then there is still a chance! I still have some friends who haven't heard anything yet.

My Mcat is 32P and my GPA is 3.85. They did give me some feedback on the phone as to why I was selected. It seemed that my interview itself was was impressed them most, and that combined with my GPA/MCAT was the reason they selected me. I hope maybe that helps a little and good luck!

What can they do besides just keep striving for excellence as they always have been? The changes in ranking from year to year don't matter all that much, besides getting some good publicity. The only notable change in research ranking criteria was a decrease in residency director score by 0.1, and for primary care, UNC-Chapel Hill had 60% go into primary care residencies. But the students choose their specialties, not the school.

This saddens me🙁. But in the long run- it makes no real difference! The school is still stellar.

I am just hoping it is a small bump and not the start of a slow, continual decrease. I agree that the school is still amazing, has a unique clinical experience, has awesome research chances and would I would love to go there.

I just called the admissions office concerning Idaho applicants and I was told that they're still reviewing idaho applicants at EXCOM meetings. I asked how many applicants had already been accepted, and she wasn't sure.

Same thing happened last year I do believe, group of Idaho accepted immediately after the last interviews in Seattle (within one day after) and then the rest came after the fact I think.
