Accepted, Idaho applicant. Not sure he exact date, but I got an email from a member of the admissions committee this morning. Those of you still waiting to hear good luck! I would say try not to stress but I know that's much easier said than done.

I have an update:

Just got a call from the lady I spoke to earlier...and she took back what she said and told me that all the decisions for idaho have been made: accepted, rejected, wait listed... And for those who have heard back it is because their Admissions committee member (who was their interviewer) called them or sent them an email. Some don't call or email though, and so ALL acceptances, rejections, and waitlisted applicants will go out via email by the end of this week.

It depends who your excom committee member is.

Any Idaho acceptances care to share theirs?

Waitlisted idaho applicant. Anyone know how UW waitlist works? Is there a lot of movement or not?

Usually 2, 3 if you're incredibly lucky spots each year open for idaho, however now they have added 5 more seats that 3rd wait list spot might be more common. Someone posted a nifty excel sheet a while back of wait list movement from previous years. Every year is different

Rejected and an Idahoan. Good luck to everyone else and congrats to the acceptances.

I directly copy and pasted this quote from the email...what the heck does that mean? I assumed that the waitlist was not ranked but apparently it is?? Anyone shed some light on this?

You have been selected as an unranked alternate on our Idaho alternate list.

Funnily enough, the email I received was not from my EXCOM member.

So, the waitlist is unranked according to the email, but according to the website it is ranked... Or maybe that's for Washington and OOR only. I can't recall from the interview day to be honest.

Rejected no alternate. I knew my GPA would kill me. I'm a 3.3 cGPA and 3.5 sGPA 32 MCAT with loads of research, service, and URM. But, they probably saw that 3.3 and said hell no!!! Shouldn't have doubled Biochem and Bio...

I'm going to reapply in a couple years after a post-bacc, most likely. Too bad no post-bacc is offered in the entire state of Idaho.

Addition: Rather than Post bacc programs, do night classes at local universities contribute to your GPA??? I already have my degree and a well paying full-time job that I cannot just leave. But taking about 6 credits per semester is doable outside of working. Any input? Thx.

I'll probably retake the MCAT prior to next cycle as well.

Congrats all and best of luck in the WWAMI-ly!

OOR applicant here waiting for UWSOM decisions. Should I send in an update letter? I haven't much to say (some more shadowing experience since apps) but I think it would make them see I'm really interested. Also, if I said I did shadowing, should I include the contact info of the family physician I shadowed? Aaaand congrats to all the newly accepted!!!

I didn't do a formal post-bac and things have worked out well for me, but I didn't need to do GPA repair. If I were you, I would keep your job, take classes outside work, and study like crazy for the MCAT. I would also see if it's possible for you to obtain any feedback on your interview performance. Plus, WWAMI loves re-applicants (at least in Alaska, it seems), so I'd try again no matter what.

Yeah, when I didn't make it in last year, I called the admissions office in Seattle and set up a phone meeting with the director of admissions. She gave me great specific feedback & I followed the large majority of it to the letter. I made it in this year with lower stats than most. I am a non-trad though who put myself through school and have tons of underprivileged service hours.

I would call the admissions office and take scrupulous notes of your conversation- that really helped me out. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I have just had an abstract accepted for presentation at an international conference (as a poster). Do you think that is something I should send an update letter about? I mentioned I had submitted it in the one I sent in response to the SUC many of us got a few weeks ago. I don't want to spam them by sending another update so soon, but of course I do really want to get in, so if it would help me...

Should I write to them again or just let it be?

did they mean all idaho applicants or EVERYONE? i'm a washington resident still waiting...

oh sorry i meant to hit reply to dddlynnn above who called the office about the idaho acceptances. i wasn't sure if the person they spoke to meant that everyone still waiting would hear back by today or just the idaho residents

That's just Idaho. If you read the UWSOM website, for WA and OOR applicants, the excom will meet for three days between the 15th and 31st. They will decide the final acceptances, waitlist order and rejections.

So the earliest we could hear is on Sunday if they started meeting today (which it is unknown when they will meet for those three consecutive days).

Thank you all for the feedback. (1) I WILL call the admissions office and get some personalized feedback. (2) I will begin volunteering (if possible) at a Boise clinic, rather than the hospital ER. All I do in the ER is stock sodas, flirt with nurses, and get in the way. (3) I will take a few night classes of upper level Bio's [easy A's at BSU from my summer experiences] and I know I can get a stronger MCAT. I was highly disappointed with a 32 b/c my practices were much higher on the AAMC's. My verbal was 2 points lower than my practice average so I'll address that specifically. But I guess 32 is still a strong store percentile wise so I should be okay there if I can't get higher.

Lastly, I hope to see you all someday in Seattle! Congrats on nearly becoming MD's! 'Insert cliche line here' ......Fight the good fight.

So I still haven't heard ANYTHING but all Idaho applicants were supposed to receive a decision by the end of this week? Interviewed 1/4 in Boise. Going crazy here! Anyone else from Idaho in the same boat?

I interviewed on the same date: I was selected as Alternate. Everyone that I know has already heard, sorry I couldn't tell why you have to wait longer!

A friend interviewed on the same day and was rejected. I would probably contact the office if you haven't heard by the end of the week. Good luck!

Thanks for responding (and thanks to SpacemanSpiff as well)! I think I'm the only Idahoan who hasn't heard back yet. I even checked my spam folder to see if the email somehow ended up there. It's driving me nuts! I'll call them first thing Monday...it's going to be a long weekend. Anyway, what day did you receive your Alternate email? I really hope you end up getting a seat!

I got the email on 3/12. It was sort of depressing as there is very little movement on the waitlist and at this point I am 5 interviews with 4 waitlists, but there is still hope! So I am trying to stay positive!

Does anyone know of any second looks coming up at the Seattle campus?

Think the conclave is meeting? Where do we watch for smoke?
Hahahaha. Love it! I just called the admissions office to inquire about the smoke. Apparently they're still making final decisions for some Idaho applicants, and I happen to be one of them! So the smoke is still black...but they said I will receive my decision no later than the end of tomorrow! The end is nigh, indeed.

I have a phone interview with a huge scholarship foundation on Thursday morning and I really wish I could tell them I was accepted here.

What foundation and how did you apply for it? Everyone is so secretive about medical scholarships which makes it near impossible to find out anything about them.

Anybody know approximately when we will find out our site placement?

#GoHawks

ACCEPTED VIA PHONE CALL 20 MINUTES AGO!!!!!!!

So excited!

CONGRATS!!!

Also, :scared::scared::scared:

Thanks. I am relinking my mdapps to my SDN profile now. I will post my update letters on the mdapps tomorrow or the next day. Right now, it's time to celebrate!

Let the champagne flow!

Mmmmm champagne!

Awesome, been rooting for you!

Since I am a WA resident, that means the acceptances will probably go out within the next two days (assuming I was day 1 of the 3 days of meetings). Best of luck to everyone.

I think the party line is that everyone will hear back by the end of the month, so I wouldn't necessarily read too much into that.. could be that the person who you spoke with just didn't have details regarding your specific case. I don't know.

They were looking at my file when they said that..... Because I called to make sure two other letters made it in.

The UW website says that they do the final votes by the end of the March... which would be at the end of next week. I think that is where the answer came from.

BABS, you changed your avatar! I am trying to remember what the old one looked like...Remind me of it again! I love the UW and Seattle skyline on the new one. That is awesome. Congrats again.
